DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket (2 Viewers)

my angle, the wife thinks its way to expensive, she pays the bill. Asked how much the ticket was, I had it last year with a sign up promo. Right away she says she can give me the superfan for free, I say thats great but its still to spendy and I have her figure out how much it will cost me to cancel the whole Dtv service, (around $150 to cancel) right after that she gives me 10 bucks off for 6 months. I talk to her a little more about TV packages, then at the end she throws in 3 months of showtime for free. this lady was really nice and helpfull, I didnt get mean with her or anything I just made my wife sound like a real hag. Took all of ten mins, so like 22 bucks a months for 7 months for the ST with the super fan thing + the showtime for 3 months, gotta like it.....
Funny, that was basically my exact angle. Well, it's more the truth than an angle. I got nothing. Maybe it's because I didn't go through with canceling? She sure made it sound like she was just going to cancel it and call it a day.
I would call back and get someone who cares about doing there job, it costs direct tv alot to hook up new customers thats why they try and keep the ones they have....

Nice...When I called, they wanted $299 for the HD DVR, but had a $100 rebate. The lame part is the equipment is still rented. If I ever leave DTV, the other $200 goes up in smoke...I get nothing back from it...nada, nothing, zip zilch.
Of course your other option is to rent the cable box for $15 a month (or more) which never stops. You'll reach that $200 rather quick and you'll keep on paying. At least with DirecTV you pay it up front and you're done with it basically.Just all what you prefer I guess. I'd rather pay more up front and have less monthly fees.

Does anyone have a good phone number for Customer Service that doesn't lead one into "phone robot hell"?

I need to make my annual call to try to negotiate a reduction in the Sunday Ticket Super Fan package.

Thanks

I just used that number one a page back, had to hit some buttons but it only took a minute or so.

I just got off the phone with Directv, and I originally was going to only cancel my Sunday Ticket where there were going to charge me $229.00. The representative immediately started offering me discounts to my bill, and this is what they decided.

- $50.00 immediate credit

- $10.00 off my bill for the next six months!

That's $110.00 off the Ticket!

So basically I'm getting the Sunday ticket for $119.00!! :lmao: :lmao:

-Twist their arm folks, they will give you a discount! I'm not saying it will be as easy as mine, but Directv knows the price they are asking for the Sunday ticket is absurd.

OK so I just called and got $100 off my autorenew price.

Maybe not as much as some others, but not too bad for 5 minutes work.

$229.00 - $100=$129 Net

Thanks guys

on the phone with them again.....

ooooh...being transfered to the cancellation dept.

funny how you are on hold for 2 secs when ordering stuff, but when you wish to cancel, you get put on hold and hung up on.

Now I am pissed!

got the $100 credit off to start with!

AND

$50 off Superfan!!!!!!!

SWEET!

She then asked me if there was anything else she could do, so jokingly I said, I really want to see the UFC 73 fight tomorrow night, and she said that since I have purchased alot of these events she would give that to me for $25 instead of the $49.95

So it looks like they are giving things away at half price now.

If someone wants to watch out of market games or more than just local games are there any options if you can't get directv?

side note

if you call and ask for a deal on the college football package they will give you one. last year I got the college pack for for $49, regular price was $99

Just did it. She said she couldn't take any price off the Sunday ticket but she could give me $10 off for 12 months. Wooohooo!

I've been a long time customer of Directv, and a Sunday Ticket subscriber for 5 years. I also have the Total Premiere package, which runs $100 per/mo. I played this card and got the following:

$10 off per/mo for 1 year - $120 savings.

$100 off the Sunday Ticket as well.

Total savings of $220

Even if the Sunday Ticket was $300 I'd still pay it. For me going to a Sports Bar every week would certainly be more exspensive. Here is a conservative estimate on what it would cost me each Sunday

6 Amstel Lights or Corona's at 3.75 a piece = $22.5

Basic bar food, burger/fries or chicken sandwich $8.00

Food/drink total = $30.50

20% tip = $6.10

Grand total for 1 week $36.60

$36.6 X 17 Weeks = $622.20

Of course these numbers are subject to change. I may have a week where I drink 10 beers over the course of the day, and or buy a round for fellow Steeler fans. After 10 beers I would also incur the Taxi ride home expense, and the potential wrath from the wife.

Being able to spend Sunday's at home with my wife and 2 year old Steeler fan, watch any game I want, in a smoke-free enviroment, with clean bathrooms is well worth the cost of Sunday Ticket

My $0.02

When I called and canceled I got no such deal. I even said if they wanted to come off the price by about 100 I would do it. What's the magic word here?

Call back and tell them the truth, it's just too damn expensive and you're a loyal customer. They'll cave. If they start a spiel about how you are already saving money because you are an auto-renew customer, say nothing. This is all I did and she said "I'll put you on hold and see what else I can do".

Go to the bar for the entire day.

I have recently moved out of my teams area, and am now faced with having to pay to see them play. Are there any other options other than Sunday ticket to view all of one teams games? I don't need every game, just all of MY teams games. Or a pay per game thing, I read a little about NFL on Demand, but it didn't seem to offer every game, and you just pay X amount of dollars per.

FWIW ...new sub DTV promo out on Wednesday that's supposed to include Sunday Ticket...

For everyone that is getting the 10.00 a month.. Did you mention that you heard they did this for others & will you match that.. or did you have to just wait until they offered it up.. I'm going to renew this year for the $ 229.00 but I would love to get the 10.00 discount as well..

TIA.

When I called Directv, I told them that I'd been hearing from several friends about specific discounts they were receiving for the Sunday Ticket. I gave them the $10 per/mo example, as well as the $100 off the auto-renewal. The first lady I spoke with was able to give me the $10 per/mo discount for a year. She then transfered me to another dept (probably the retention dept). I explained to her that the previous rep was very helpful and I appreciated the $10 discount, but I was really looking for a little more, specifically the $100 auto-renewal. She put me on hold for a few moments, and when she returned she said she signed me up for the 2007 Season Sunday Ticket 5 payment plan, and two of the payments would be paid by Directv on my next invoice.

The manner in which I approached it was to just state facts. I've been a loyal long time customer that spends a great deal of money with them. It took me about 15 minutes in total to get these discounts.

Good luck

I just got off the phone with them.

I had billing problems with the genius' there...seems they had no record of me calling to cancel certain services the past two months....so they wouldn't back credit it. I told them I'd send them my phone records to prove it, fn idiots.

Also asked for a break on the Ticket. $229 w/o SF was the best they could do. Told her about the $100 autorenewal I'd heard about and I wantd SF for free, and she said thats the best she could do.

I really hate DTV.

Very serious about cancelling my entire plan.

Edit--called back.

Got a wonderful lady. Took care of my back credit, and also gave me Superfan for FREE. So its just $45.80 x 5, $229 total. I'm happy again.

Still hate the game you have to play to get deals, though.

Thanks.. This was the approcach I was leaning towards..

Personally the Sunday Ticket is really the only reason why I have Direct Tv in the 1st place. If Comcast had it, Id have Comcast service. For years prior to owning my own home, I did the sports bar thing every Sunday and for me I was spending way more money than I do now watching the games at home. Food and beer add up real quick when you are there at the bar all day long.

Must be nice to live in a place that charges 3.75 for Amstel or Coronas.

I am a new subscriber and a Bucs season ticket holder, I am tempeted for the right price but I just dont think I will be home enough to watch it.

I had no luck with them. I JUST had HD service installed a few days ago, and they gave me an incredible deal IMO. They came and upgraded my dish, and installed a new HD DVR for $19.95. I've been reading these posts, and decided to go for the Sunday Ticket discount. I complimented the service rep on my satisfaction with my new HD service, and as a customer to DTV..............but was unhappy with the escalating cost of the Sunday Ticket, and that I wished to cancel. #####...........he canceled it on the spot!! So I wait about a whole 15 minutes, and call back..........to ask another question on my billing. Had a real nice lady, and explained my situation with the ticket...............that I really like the service, but find it WAY overpriced. Made some reference to some of "these deals" I've been hearing about, but she stated the only deal was $40 off returning customer discount. No other deals. The Sunday Ticket is the only reason I have DTV..........and would pay whatever, I'll never not subscribe to the ticket. Oh well.............it was worth the try.

This is the reason I cancelled. I am not home enough anymore to justify it, and when I called to cancel/haggle they had little/no interest in dealing even though I have had the ticket for 4 years.

You can still get it, make sure you get Superfan, and Tivo the Shortcuts each week. This is what I do, so during the week, when the kids are in bed and the missus is watching some show, I can watch 3 entire NFL games in an hour. GB Shortcuts

Well it was $3.75 about 5 years ago, which is the last time I went to a Sports Bar to watch the games. I couldn't tell you what they cost now. I buy beer by the case from BJ's Wholesale Club

DTV Sunday Ticket promo is back: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/conte...?assetId=900044

Looks like you still get the receivers at no cost (with 2 yr), HD DVR is 199, and the promo is 4 months FREE of any DTV package with Sunday Ticket order...sign me up. :hey: Anyone want a referral? (PM me)

It's for new customers only...I will be dropping COMCRAP cuz they dropped the NFL Network from their standard lineup (moved it to sports package for extra $$).

I called two weeks ago and cancelled the NFL Ticket after being a subscriber for five years or so. Got my brand-new bill today, and - big surprise - they didn't take it off. My first installment was billed.

So I called to ream them, and then I told them I heard about these offers. So they gave me a $10 credit for each of the next 12 months and threw in the Super Fan for free, so I kept the Ticket, which I planned to do all along!

Anyone ever have Dish network. I have canceled the ST with no response about anything to try to keep me so I have looked into Dish and for the first 10 month it will be about $20.00 cheaper and the the next 1 year and 2 months it will be $10.00 cheaper then DTV. Any problems with dish that anyone knows about other then they don't have ST. But since I won't have it does not really matter.

Titan what sunday ticket deal are you talking about? it looks like its just like normal 5 payments of 49.00 a month, so where is the savings?

I just got off the phone and thought I'd share this here as this COULD affect several of you. For the last several years, I've just gotten Sunday Ticket by itself (without the base package) and then the last 2 years, added the high def package (channels 72-79) for like $9.99 a month. I was happy with this as I didn't want or need a base package, and they said as long as I didn't make any changes to my service (either package wise or getting new equipment) I'd auto-renew each year and not have to get a base package like all new customers.

Well as many of you know, in September, they will be launching the new satellite and high def channels, and if your current HD receiver is a a year or two old like mine (Model H10, which I bought new in October of 2005) you will no longer be able to get the HD games or channels without upgrading to a new HD receiver.

Of course, they will upgrade your HD receiver for free, but with that change, I'd no longer be able to get JUST the Sunday Ticket and would HAVE to get the base package. :lmao: And of course, to be able to get all these new HD channels, you'll need to get the base package that is $49.95 a month (the $29.95 a month doesn't have ESPN, and most of the good new high def stuff!)

I guess I've been spoiled the last few years that I've only had to spend $9.99 a month for ESPN,ESPN2 and the few other high def channels, and my Sunday Ticket, and now I'll HAVE to spend $49.95 a month, plus $5.95 if I want the Tivo service, PLUS the cost of Sunday Ticket.

The best offer they gave me to continue the service (I told them I was seriously thinking about canceling) was the following:

Free upgraded HD receiver (but I pay $19.95 for shipping) and new satellite

Free Tivo (250 GB)

$10 off for the next 12 months

6 months of the TIVO service for free (normally $5.95 a month)

Free SuperFan

Does this seem like a decent offer? Has anyone gotten a better one? Any suggestions? With a new baby on the way, just trying to keep costs down.

Their new promo is...Your first 4 months you pay:
$69.99/moYou get:

ALL DTV channels (250 channels + 31 premium, ie: movie channels)
NFL Sunday Ticket in HD
free install & free equipment (watch that one, they only give (1) $99 instant rebate)Seems like a pretty decent shake to me...

pretty much the same deal as last year, order the ticket when you sign up and get all the channels for 4 months, I think it was a tad cheaper last year (10 bucks a month). Got a cheapo dvd player in the deal also.....good deal anyways for the first year....

You may already understand this, but you do not need to upgrade this year. The NFLST and current HD channels that you are paying $9.99 a month for are not going anywhere right now and you will continue to recieve them on the same equipment as you recieve them on today. What you will not get with older recievers and dish is the new HD channels you allude to in September that have not yet launched.By this time next year, they may choose to move NFLST over to the new system, no one really knows. Also, you should be aware the 250GB TIVO you are getting for free will not receieve the new HD channels.Bottom line, if you are trying to pinch some pennies, you will continue to get the exact same programming you currently get (including Sunday Ticket) for at least the next 8-12 months.

For a lot of apartment renters, buildings have 4 sides... usually only 2 can face south at the same time, you know.

I'm a five year subscriber to ST. I called today and asked for free Superfan and $100 rebate. I got Free Superfan and $10 credit for six months. I thought that was worth the call and thought others would want to know.

I told the first rep that my wife thought the ST was getting too expensive (especially if we have to pay extra for HD games). I said I was calling to see if there were any specials available to returning subscribers that would help me convince her to keep it. The first rep checked and couldn't find anything but said she would transfer me to another rep who may have better offers available. I told the second rep the same thing about the expense and he put me on hold to check. He came back and offered me just the Superfan. I said I appreciated that and asked if there were any rebates available. He put me on hold again and came back and said he did not have a $100 rebate but could give me a $10 credit each month for six months. I happily accepted.

D* was very cooperative. I know that they counting on the fact that most customers won't even bother to make the call but I appreciate that they seem to be willing to give Superfan away...I'm not sure that I want the ST without the HD that you get from the Superfan and it would stink really bad to pay extra for the HD games when I already pay a monthly fee for HD service in my home. The entire call took about 10 minutes.

Took about 20 minutes but after speaking to 4 people I was able to get $10 off my bill for 12 months ($120 savings) as well as 3 free months of Showtime. I asked about a free Superfan package as well as an instant $100 bill credit, but they said no dice. I'll take it though. I had the $229 renewal rate to begin with so basically got the Sunday Ticket for $109 plus 3 free months of the Showtime channels. Great thread.

I know some people crap on the fact you have to call to get deal with DirecTV.

I see it the other way around. I like that fact that they will actually give you deals at all! Try calling your cable company and complain about the price of Extra Innings or Center Ice. They will just yawn and ask "so are you going to order it or not, thank you come again".

The screenshots of the new game mix and red zone channels look promising, and in HD...

Superfan 2007 Screenshots
Am I the only one that thinks the Game Mix channel still sucks? The screens are small enough, why waste more space with the stupid Game Mix frame... That was always my gripe with the ST, as it is the channel I kept it on most when I wasn't watching the Bucs. It would also be nice if they allowed you to select which audio you wanted to listen to on the game mix. I realize my ideas are light years ahead, so I wouldn't expect anyone with common sense at DT to think of them. :wall: I own a condo that doesn't allow the dish, but was a customer in the past. Just my 2 cents...

anybody have any experience with the package that Dish Network offers?? It is different than Direct TV right? I just got Dish Network about a month ago...

You actually can choose which audio to listen to on the game mix if you have an interactive receiver.

I'm hoping they soon offer a game mix where you can choose which games to put on it. Minimum of 2, maximum of 6. I'd watch the game mix much more if I could put 4 games on it and have much bigger pictures for each game.

yes...nfl...I wasnt sure if they offered an nfl package... Guess I could check out thier web page
