Two great comedies from the late 80s, and both fun little capers, but which is better? 

I would have said Dirty Rotten Scoundrels before, but after seeing A Fish Called Wanda again recently, I might go with that. Both are so good. 

 
The comedic talents of Cleese, Palin, assisted by Kline and Curtis knock this one out of the park. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels very funny, but not close to Wanda

 
Assisted by Kline? Assisted? I would argue he is the funniest one in the film, although Cleese and Palin are obviously hysterical as well. 

Martin and Caine both knock it out of the park in ...Scoundrels.

Both are awesome but there is a lot more talent packed into Wanda and a few riotous moments. DRS is more like a fine glass of red wine. I'm worried about the DRS re-make that is coming out sometime soon. 

Michael Caine and Steve Martin play off each other brilliantly. The lady in that movie, name eludes me but she also plays it really well. 

Wanda has a better script because the lines in that movie are quoted by many. Otto is an absolute loon by Kline, JLC is hot and sassy, Cleese and Palin are terrific. Both films are wonderful.

Wanda: Let me correct you on a few things. Aristotle was not Belgian. The central message of Buddhism is not “Every Man for Himself”. And the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, Otto. I looked ’em up.

Just like the OP, I would say DRS but haven't seen Wanda since it first came out but remember loving it. Must rewatch!

Unfortunately this is true. Despite having an absurdly good cast and two comic legends Cleese & Palin FCW has a mostly quiet subtle humor. Arguably the funniest scenes come from Kline going nuts on the staid characters around him.

Voted A Fish Called Wanda.  

Whenever I see a bueno post I read it in Otto's voice.  Helps me get through it.

If I were at a gathering where someone suggested putting on a movie and the two choices were the ones in the poll, I would say I'll go along with the group consensus since both movies are hysterically funny and I'm proud the group wanted to choose between this pairing.

I love both these films. Both in my top 10 comedies of all time. But Wanda edges it out by a hair.

Never heard of it.  I'd still give it a shot at being better than these.

Fish may hold the title for most overrated movie in my lifetime... the Emmitt Smith of movies.

 
Both of these are great.  I'd give the slight edge to Wanda.

Wanda is pretty funny, but I love DRS.
