Anybody remember that Engram had a medical condition last season that forced him to miss several games? Was it that long ago? I believe it was something involving his thyroid and that articles were out stating it was permanent and uncurable. Honestly, the guy is a career WR#3 and he has to be considered on the downside of his career at this point. And even with Engram healthy and playing, in my eyes it's almost an impossibility that Hackett is be on the sideline for any great period of time this season. The guy has to be considered a #1b in this offense and possibly #1a once the whistles start blowing.
Burleson sucks and should be considered a bust at this point. Last season they let him play a bit, even had a few designed quick outs and screens that went to him and he wasn't able to do jack with anything. He has trouble catching easy balls. He gets nervous in traffic. He can't get seperation. How was this guy able to catch for 1,000 yards at all is astounding to me. That guy is a major mental breakdown on the part of the front office during "Hutchingson-gate" IMO.
And if Engram is unable to participate at 100%, the flood gates could potentially open for the other Seattle WRs. Hackett is every bit the down field WR as Branch, but he also provides a big target ala Joe Jurevicious in the redzone. Just look at season Joe J put together a couple years ago and now glance over at Branch's career TD totals if you want to get an idea what kind of upside Hackett possesses. Hasselbeck is one of the top QBs in the NFC, and he plays in the weakest division in the NFC. That's gonna be points because someone has to score, and Hackett is in position IMO. Jackson gone. Stevens gone. Engram ailing. Branch is relatively new to the system and so is Burleson. Ironically, Hackett is almost the veteran WR in this situation despite getting very little playing time up until last year. It's surprising to me how low this guy is going in drafts even with his "sleeper list" status. Hackett will end up on a lot of my teams this year.
