Do you ever trade with the team you are playing that week? (1 Viewer)

I have a pretty good trade offer that will improve my RBs while only giving up my backup QB. But it's to the team that just lost Romo who would otherwise have to start his own backup or use the waiver wire.

What's the conventional wisdom here? Do you just wait until after the game? I've always had a personal rule to not trade during the week I play that team, and it hasn't always worked to my advantage.

I dont care who I trade with, as long as it improves my team I could care less. People in my league will sometimes say I wont trade within my division, which makes no sense to me at all, why potentially hurt your own team just because you have to play a team twice?

It would depend...if I was struggling to make the playoffs and this game might make the difference in doing so, then probably not. That situation usually doesn't come up that often and if I were facing them later in the season it wouldn't be an issue.

I'm in second at 6-1, they are tied for 3rd at 4-3. I have a much better team and will only play them once (we don't have playoffs). I'd like to bury them before I trade, but who's to say if they will still trade after this week.

I did two weeks ago. Ended up picking up 15 extra points by doing the trade and, in doing so, won the game when I otherwise would have lost without the trade.

I tried this past weekend. I offered Randy Moss and Ryan Torain for Roddy White.

The guy accepted it, but the league doesn't let you go past the roster limit so he needed to drop a player off his roster before the trade went through. He didn't before gameday.

I ended up losing, exchange the points of those players and I would have won. I was extremely ticked, especially being a Falcons fan and while being happy as heck Roddy was tearing up the Bengals, it was bittersweet watching him demolish my team and he SHOULD have been on my roster.

Tried trading w/ the owner I'm playing this week. He's a Romo owner, and has no backup on his roster. Fitz & of course Kitna are available as free agents, but we use blind bidding only in this league & there are 2 other owners also needing QBs (one owns Eagles QBs--BYE & Favre--may not play; the other has Ryan on BYE & a questionable Vince Young, K Collins is rostered on another team due to need week 7) so he's not guaranteed getting either guy. I own Rodgers & Orton. He approached me, & I tried to get Jennings from him for Orton but he hasn't even bothered responding (it's a start 3 WR league & he also owns AJ, TO, Lee Evans).

I did last week. He was 0-6, I was 5-1. I ended up losing but I think it really helped me long term. It depends on how bad I feel I need the win at the time.

It doesn't usually enter into the equation. If it bites me back in the one game, but helps me in the other 5, 8, 10, or whatever, I'm doing that deal.

You're question is about strategy, and I think you take the trade if you like it.

I sometimes offer trades to my opponents for the entertainment value. Big fun.

I don't but thats just my personal motto. I just don't like the idea of the guys I give away beating me that week. I know its just superstition but I don't do it, ever.

I don't try to on purpose, but some reason it always ends up I trade with the guy I'm playing against that week. If you see an offer you really like, take it while you can because peoples' minds always change after a week of games

I just traded Roethlisberger and Best for AP and I'm playing my trade partner this week. Now it'll be my team:

Manning

AP

Rice

Calvin Johnson

Miles Austin

Cooley

vs

Roethlisberger

Best

J.Charles

Ochocinco

Seattle Williams

H.Miller

He had Romo and Stafford as his QBs beforehand

As long as I think I'm improving my team for the long haul, yes, I would do it. It does occasionally bite you in the ###:

Prior to week 6 I dealt (among other things) Bowe to the owner I was playing and got back Romo (among other things). Well, Bowe went off obviously, I ended up losing to him by .5 points....

and now Romo is dead.

So yeah, that one was a mistake, but was still a good deal that I'd do again if given the chance.
