Do you invest $ to try to win the Toilet Bowl? (1 Viewer)

So I got bounced out of my playoffs last week (thanks AD) and now got put into the Toilet Bowl. My league charges $$$ for transactions. I could stand to upgrade one of my WR spots, but do I put in more investment into this team that can max out at winning the Toilet Bowl? What do you guys normally do in this situation? Keep dropping money to win a small pot for the Toilet Bowl or just roll with the team you got.

You haven't provided enough info.

I mean what does it cost for a free agent?

How much can you win?

Who are your WRs today?

If it were me, I would be inclined to try and win. I mean isn't that why most of us play FF "to win the damn game" - Herm Edwards

i didn't want to make it look like an A/C question, thus i left out the WR info

we have $10 a transaction charge and i believe can win $100 for the Toilet Bowl

sounds like spending $10 to try and win $100 in the toilet bowl probably isn't worth the risk reward. Seriously how much of an upgrade is it. I'm only considering spending $ to try and win the subplayoffs in my league if I get in the extreme situation of having no starting QB (I have Rivers Bulger and Schaub :goodposting: )

well without turning it into an A/C thread, i want to upgrade Donte Stallworth in a start 3 WR league. I already have a pretty big tab of transactions as well.

I am in that "extreme" situation. I wish I could spend a couple $s to upgrade my QB spot but there are no waivers anymore at all in my 2nd league. The last week of waivers, I swapped Griese for Grossman and at that time my sucky QBs at least include 3 starting QBs and now, the first week of the Toilet Bowl (play for the #1 draft slot), I now have Bulger, Harrington and Grossman. I know, it is a very deep rostered league, so anyone usuable is already gone. Even other scrubs like Losman and Dilfer, who were starting, aren't starting anymore. Even if I tried to roster all of the backups, like Frerotte and Griese, I would still be out of luck.It kind of sucks to be in lock down roster mode and watch a couple weekends of play and realize that no matter what you get a 0 from your QB in a 6pt per TD league. And then to watch your halfway decent RB2 of Dayne (drafted Green) go down as well, means that I am pretty much done without a chance. I know.:unsure:I will recommend that we allow pickups all year like in my other league. We used to lock down waivers, but with our week 17 championship, injuries and resting players kind of made it hard for some teams to have a useful roster and that kind of takes the fun out of it when you know you are going to lose because you can't pick someone up.

to get a more accurate answer, you'd probably have to provide enough details to make this an AC question.

depends on how much money you need to pay vs the reward ($10 for $100)

who you're dropping stallworth for

who's on your bench

and who you're facing

This is why most teams have a week 16 championship
I understand, although the one league I am in that has a week 17 championship allows waivers all the way, so that kind of offsets players resting as you could easily pick up replacements. The league I am in that locked waivers a couple weeks ago is the one with a week 16 championship. Just crossing my fingers that Bulger somehow starts since I know Harrington and Grossman are locks not to start.

yeah, now i'm thinking what's 10 more bucks. i'm gonna try to upgrade Stallworth but the choices are slim. Gaffney or Gonzo time.

We put a spin on the toilet bowl a few yrs ago in my 14 team $$$ re-draft league (dynasty would be tough, but possible if the owners buy in).

For those teams not fortunate enough to make the playoffs, the winner of the toilet bowl gets the #1 pick next year.

This accomplishes a few things IMO:

1. Virtually eliminates tanking / bad trades

2. Keeps owners active/trading - even when they're technically out of it by week 10

3. Gives the other guys something to keep managing their teams for (we seed it like the normal playoffs)

Probably too late in the game for this year, but I'd recommend it :goodposting:
