I think Red Wolves is a little clunky. Redtails seems like a no-brainier to me. Don’t just eliminate a negative, turn it into a positive. Also fits Rivera's criterion of honoring the military

Two words is a killer for me.  I guess redskins was sorta two words.
I think they wanted to ensure they can keep the fight song.  And httr and burgundy and gold.  That accomplishes all of the above.  Also rolls off the tongue the same.  Maybe that’s why i like it.

Don’t like the Red Tails at all, horrible nickname for a sports team.  Much rather honor the Tuskegee airmen with something on the national level, not a sports team.  The Red Wolves are the top choice in recent polls locally, even Dwayne Haskins has come out as a fan of the Red Wolves, while earlier he was in favor of Red Tails.

I like red tails but i don’t see Snyder choosing it.  It doesn’t fit with the people he aligns with.

the more i hear red wolves though the more i like it as the choice.

If they did choose Red Tails, I just would hate hearing “Washington leaves town with their tails their between legs”.   I just don’t think “Tails” would turn out to be a good choice.  I want the Tuskegee airmen to be honored, just don’t think this is the best way.   But, of all the names that are mentioned now, if Red Wolves are not chosen, even though I think it’s a bad choice personally, the Red Tails does seem like a good choice of what’s being mentioned. It was nice in 2007 for President Bush to award the Tuskegee Airmen’s members, who were still living, the Congressional Gold Medal.

Sources: Redskins Expected To Announce Retirement Of Nickname Tomorrow

By Ben Fischer

Sunday, July 12, 2020

The Redskins intend to announce on Monday that the team will retire its nickname, two sources said, 11 days after naming-rights sponsor FedEx’s public statement asking for a change to the controversial moniker. The new nickname will not be announced immediately because trademark issues are pending, the sources said, but insiders were told today that the “thorough review” announced July 3 has concluded. The team felt it was important to remove any doubts as to the future of the name, one source said.

The timeline for announcing a new name was unclear, but the sense of urgency inside the organization is clear. In a private letter on the same day as its public statement, FedEx threatened to take its name off the team’s Landover, Md., stadium after the end of the season if the name was not changed. Pepsi, Bank of America and Nike later joined with their own public statements, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also said he was supportive of the review. A Redskins spokesperson did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

It will be interesting to see what the lyrics to the new fight song will be.  Here is a link to what they are presently and what they were originally.  Can’t believe they had “scalp’em” in the original fight song.

The new name should honor how the name change finally happened...The Washington Corporate Sponsors
Maybe the NFL should change all of the teams name to some professional grievance group instead?

How about, the Washington Transsexuals?  Maybe the Seattle BLMs?  The Los Angeles Code Pinks?  The New York Antifas?  The Las Vegas Bronies?  Do we have enough professional grievance groups to cover all 32 teams?  If not, then maybe just anyone who has ever been offended at some point or another in their life can have a team named after them.  Of course, none of these people probably watch football anyways and certainly won't pay anything towards the club, but that's okay as long as we're all made aware of whatever it is they want us to be aware of.

Just throwing out suggestions here.  Trying to help, that's all.

You don’t think African Americans, gays or transsexuals watch football?

The 2 Redskins hats I ordered arrived Saturday.  Got an old school one and a Military one.  20% off and selling out fast.  So anyone looking for Redskin gear better order it soon as once it is gone it is gone for good.  Some Redskin collectables on NFL.COM as well.

Isn't that kind of like ordering Confederate flags before they are banned?

NFL/TEAM - "We are moving forward from this image that has been deemed racist and hurtful."

American Consumers - "I need to get more of that before its too late!"

I posted this in FFA--

friend of mine is a huge Redskins fan- his basement has tons of TVs and all kind of pennants, jerseys, signs etc for the Washington Redskins-  not to mention clothing and hats..  is he, as well as all the other fans still allowed to wear their Redskin gear, or will they shamed and cancelled by the internet mob??

A buddy of mine that is a huge fan of that team said he asked yesterday if wearing his existing Redskins gear was going to be okay and the liberal dude in the group took about a New York second to compare it to the confederate flag and start shaming the guy.

Is Nike, FedEx, Daniel Snyder, Goodell, or anyone else exchanging that gear for the new gear free of charge?  Going to guess that's where these corporations that love doing the right thing draw the line and tell these fans they are SOL.

Anyone that bought Redskins merchandise for the last 20 years had to be aware this was going to happen eventually.

I've been to a flea market that still sells old stuff like that.  My favorite was a help wanted sign from the early 20th century that said "Irish need not apply".

Same goes for Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, New Orleans Saints and other fans?
Maybe the Indians, probably not the other two.  People have been talking about changing the Redskins name for being racist for as long as I can remember.  Until a few weeks ago I hadn't heard anything similar about the Rangers and Saints.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Saints logo. It's just faux outrage intended to deflect attention from the Redskins controversy.
Guess you haven’t researched the history of that logo.  It’s more gross than any other liberal sports outrage.  And I don’t give a #### about the redskins to be honest

There's nothing wrong with the Saints logo itself.

No one is seriously offended by a flower.

The fact that a small group of people misappropriated the flower symbol hundreds of years ago, does not mean that all current iterations of that flower are offensive.

This shouldn't need explaining.

Hey - you don't get to pick and choose who gets to be offended.  The liberal mantra is if it's offensive to anyone, no matter how slight, it has to go.

Oh, yeah, and you have to call that person/company racist.

:lmao:  at we used to brand this symbol onto slaves but this other iteration means something different.   That apply to everything else?  Confederate Flag?  Gator Bait chant?

Sweet - your posts are offensive to me.  ;)

Only on a message board would anyone attempt to create a (false) equivalency between a flower and the confederate flag. That analogy does not exist in real life.

A wise man once said that conservatives were better at outrage. Recent events are causing me to rethink that theory.

Are there people asking to change the logo of the Saints? I've seen you post about this at least a dozen times now.  Have you an example of people clamoring to alter this one?
