When you don't have a stud QB, Do you let the running game matchup influence your starting QB decision? For example...If Pitt is facing a team they should be able to run all over because of a poor run D, do you downgrade the Pitt QB eventhough the passing matchup is not bad and he's your number 1 QB. This really would only come into play when you have a decent QB2.

With QBBC gaining popularity and fringe starters, this is a decision that has to be made often.

If the passing matchup is not bad, then there's no need to downgrade. It works both ways, too. The Vikings pass D, in a vacuum, was pretty good last season. But the run D was awesome. So the passing matchup was always pretty good, because you knew teams pass on the Vikes a lot. And starting your QB against Minnesota worked out pretty well last year.

While not exactly your question, I think teams with favorable RB match-ups are often ones where the QB's don't need to do much. Poor rushing D's are often due to the offense being able to get ahead and pound the ball. Not always, but often.

So, yes, when doing QBBC, I certainly look at the rushing match-up - just as I'd never play a RB if I think that team will be behind all day long (Like Edge always is). There are exceptions (pass catching RB's, etc), but I definately consider such things.
