Does Brandon Stokley drop Marshalls Value? (1 Viewer)

Only very slightly.... Stokely is a slot WR who plays across the middle like a TE in most offense schemes (his strength along with down field blocking).

I still like B Marshall's long term value as Stokely's 1 yr contract could be more of a mentoring assignment too. Walker might not be the "tutoring" type.

No, and I have my doubts whether Stokely has recovered from his torn Achilles' tendon. Even if he has I don't think you will ever see his value as good as it was in 2004. That's ions ago.

Stokley was a #2 when he was in Baltimore, and did pretty decent considering his poor QB at the time.

Stokely will compete to make the roster with Kircus at the 4th WR spot, maybe 5th.

If he's 100% (and he's not as old as you'd think) he could do more, but not that likely.

I think Adam Schefter first said that since Denver plays Indy this year, he might also be a way to get inside the Colts' playbook.

Brandon Stokley is a 31 year old, often injured player attempting a comeback from a ruptured right achilles tendon. He will probably have difficulty making the roster.

Marshall's a stud? On what planet? I think Brandon Marshall negatively affects Brandon Marshall's value. Sell sell sell, and sell some more.

These are professional athletes, a ruptured achilles tendon is fully recovered in 6 months. Football shape in less then 8 months. That put's him right on schedule for the pre-season. He may miss camp as did Javon last year because of his knee. He will be in the slot and has the hands to move the chains. He can get deep but doesn't need to. However, he may catch a couple of people slipping on some seam routes. He is more stability for Cutler. Marshall will develop into what lelie was, the deep threat only Marshall has Heart and will go get the ball. He is a powerful 6'4 220+ and will be on the #2CB so at the very least a physical mismatch. Watch for many endzone jump balls to the corner for Marshall.

I don't buy signing Stokley to get into Indy's playbook. Indy's offensive playbook is very vanilla. They don't get fancy, they just have their set offense that they run over and over again to perfection. With Indy, everyone knows exactly what their offense is going to look like- the reason nobody can stop it is because Indy runs it to perfection.I do agree that Stokley will be competing for the 4th or 5th WR spot. I don't think he hurts Marshall's value at all- typically, anything beyond the 2nd WR will have no fantasy value in Denver, and no way does Stokley become Denver's WR2.

Brandon Marshall was a rookie last year. He looked like a rookie- a pretty good one, but still a rookie. Brandon Marshall is neither a stud nor a bust- he's a prospect- and the only smart thing to do with prospects is hold them and wait for them to develop, unless someone else absolutely falls in love with him and offers you a king's ransom to acquire him.

Marshall will NEVER develop into what Lelie was. Their skillset is entirely different. Lelie was a burner, whose only skill was getting downfield in a hurry. Marshall is nowhere near as fast as Lelie was- he's more of a possession guy, an absolute horse who is a beast to bring down once he's got a full head of steam, complete with great leaping skills. Marshall's strength lies in the short-to-intermediate zone, and most particularly in his after-the-catch skills. His nickname is "Baby T.O.", and the reason is because his game is remarkably similar to Owens's. Other players with similar skillsets include Chris Chambers (but hopefully Marshall can catch more than 39% of his passes), Anquan Boldin, and Andre Johnson. Besides, Denver already has a top-notch deep threat. Javon Walker is currently playing the Ashley Lelie role, except with better short and intermediate routes, too. If I had to compare the players to Smith/McCaffrey in their prime (1998-2000 or so), Denver's dream scenario would be for Brandon Marshall to be a bigger, stronger Ed McCaffrey, and for Javon Walker to be a faster Rod Smith.

Stokley has missed 50% or more of his starts in 5 of 8 career seasons.
