Lets all face it. Incognito would kick the living ##### of out Martin if they got in a fight. I don't care how big Martin is, he wouldn't stand a chance. There is no doubt about that.

Martin might be a moron - I don't know. But I do know he did the right thing by not retaliating. The facts so far show that he had other options and he took one of them.

I understand your frustration - trust me - I'm a hot head and actually enjoy a good fight. But age brings wisdom and I now realize that VERY rarely is it worth it to fight.

The part I find most interesting is the time line. From what I can gather the abusive text messages nd VMs occurred in April. Not sure about the Vegas trip. Yet the straw that broke the camels back seems to have been the lunchroom prank. In between the two seemed to be on OK terms, hanging out and even pranking others (the Josh Samuda incident stands out).

So my question is has the abusive bullying/threats persisted or is this now coming up as evidence

I hope Martin is OK. If he was really suicidal then I hope he's getting the help he needs. And that is really the danger of hazing. For most people it is something that is tolerable but for a few it can be a living hell. That's why you see many of the other players sticking up for incognito - because what was good natured ribbing for som.e was something much more severe for Martin.

I expect a lot more news to come out in the coming days which will incriminate all parties.

Actually agree with this to a point.If it's just Incognito giving him a hard time and the threat is limited to one on one duking it out, sure, Martins got to stand up for himself, although I agree with a lot of Hoss' above post as well.

But if it's a group of players or the threat is perceived to extend to life and limb I dont think brawling, in closed practices or otherwise, is a viable solution.

Martin is either extremely soft compared to the generality of the NFL culture or he had valid reason to fear retribution beyond just a punch in the face.

Greg brings up a good point - if Incognito is indeed the leader of the Bully Squad then other players might just want to distance themselves from the situation altogether and fly under the radar.

Let's wait a few days and see if any Martin defenders come out of the woodwork. That will be telling one way or the other.

I do not agree with this either, but 15k for a guy making about 1.2 mil a year is like .0013% of his yearly salary. Comparatively, that is like less than $50 for a person making 40k. This isn't like a mafia level extortion ring or anything.

Ralphie got another mention later on in the thread. Apt comparison if you ask me. Ralphie was getting bullied, and went the TCB route. No more bullying, and in fact, probably led to his brother not getting bullied later by the little thug leprechaun that the bully hung out with.

If a bully smells blood in the water, he's going to needle you until you snap. Those guys feed on weakness, and some Stanford silver spoon Carlton Banks type is low hanging fruit.

Martin appears to have handled Incognito quite effectively.

If I worked with a bunch of guys I thought were douchebags, and they invited me on a trip to Vegas, I would find something else to do that weekend.

The difference here is that Martin said he would go, incognito made the travel plans and set things up, THEN Martin tries to back out. That's not cool
