Over/Under snaps 2014?2nd rounder just 2 yrs ago. But it was clear he wasn't a starting caliber player. You can say that about tons of players in the league. No chance of playing time barring injury.

I mean none at tackle since they have 2 studs. Maybe they try and make him a guard but I don't see him being physical enough for that offense. Not sure when he will ever see the field.Over/Under snaps 2014?2nd rounder just 2 yrs ago. So you are saying zero?I mean none at tackle since they have 2 studs. Maybe they try and make him a guard but I don't see him being physical enough for that offense. ESPNThe Dolphins announced the move on Tuesday night on the first day of NFL free agency. San Francisco then confirmed the trade, saying only that it would send an undisclosed draft choice to Miami and that Martin still must pass a physical to complete the deal.
Miami will receive a conditional seventh-round pick in 2015 if Martin is on San Francisco's opening 53-man roster, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Martin's move cross country brings him back to the Bay Area to play again, and he has been at Stanford taking classes. "This is great for him to get back on the field and he's in Palo Alto right now. It couldn't be much better," his agent, Ken Zuckerman, said in a phone interview. "I just think everyone wanted this to happen. Harbaugh knows Jonathan, I think the Dolphins were compensated and Jonathan wants to get back on the field. It's a good day."
Feels weird to say zero this early, but it's not going to be high. What would you put it at?So you are saying zero?I mean none at tackle since they have 2 studs. I think he's going to be motivated to prove something. I think he's going to have support from the head coach. I wouldn't count special teams snaps like FG or XP. But, I could see 4-6 offensive snaps per game this year without an injury. I see him in the jumbo package on the goal line, or short yardage situations.Feels weird to say zero this early, but it's not going to be high. Do you know what happens when you have an idiot who is motivated? You get a motivated idiot.I think he's going to be motivated to prove something. IIRC, 49ers have a couple of OL contracts that will need addressed in 2015. (not to mention Kap and Crabtree) He has to know this year is one long audition. I also think it's a smart move for the NFL. If things don't work out, it was his college coach that will cut him and end his NFL career.
Why don't you give up on the "mom" stuff which you and some others have desperately using to bash Martin the whole thread? First it was "his mom is a lawyer" and she was setting up a lawsuit which didn't happen. Now his college coach will be coaching him in the NFL and suddenly Jim Harbaugh is Martin's "mom".Martin is simply getting a chance to have his old coach guard him to make it back into the NFL. This is like having his mom be the coach of the team, there was nowhere for him to go.
Not trying to speak for MOP, but I think you may have read a bit into his statement. I said it before and I'll say it again --- the 12-year-old kids in Stand By Me were far better at "mom" insults than you are. And they were 12. This just looks like you grasping for some way to trash Martin after so many people predicted that no team would sign him, and that Incognito would be snatched right up. Didn't happen that way.
Sour grapes on an 11-years-old-and-under level.
It's my fault Chuck. I should use the word mature/maturity. Martin is woefully immature and he had another totally immature person in Richie trying to lead him. There is an old saying about the blind leading the blind which applied here. Not trying to speak for MOP, but I think you may have read a bit into his statement. Also, I dont think anyone was using his mom to "trash" him, but rather to explain why things may have gone down as they did. Allowing for the possibility that his mother had influence on his choice to hire an attorney and essentially leverage the team to let him go and fire everybody that ever raised their voice to him was logical, and the sentiment was shared by many in the national media - not just people on this board. There was no lawsuit (yet) because that leverage got him exactly what he wanted. The team had to fire one of the best trainers in the NFL, possibly just to appease him. Had things not gone his way, that lawsuit would have probably still been in play. In fact, while the odds have certainly gone down, I still think it is in play. Not sure why else he would have hired that attorney, and thus far no answer seems to be all that logical to me.
Also, also, a lot has happened with Richie since people made the claim that he would be a hot free agent commodity. I dont think anyone has said that since he trashed his own car and was checked into a facility.
And yet still also, if anyone was the top dog at mom insults, it was Richie. Some "yo mamas", and "yo sister" jokes are really the extent of what happened here as it applies to Jonathan Martin (the trainer issue is a whole different story). Those guys from Stand By Me couldnt hold a candle to Richie in that department, but the guys that the comments were directed toward in the movie...maybe they should have hired a lawyer.
In the end, Jonathan Martin gets what he wanted, and the Dolphins get rid of a player that was not good for them, and did not fit in their locker room. I feel that as KC has pointed out, there is a chance that JM will recognize his full potential in a new location, maybe in a locker room where the coach is the alpha rather than the players. He is a very intelligent, very sensitive guy that may have some mental issues. Its a tough personality for the NFL, but maybe SF is one of the locker rooms that will work for him.
I am obviously not a fan, and it would be disingenuous for me to say that I truly wish him the very best in his career, but I can say that I hope that he is able to reach his full potential in an environment more suited to his personality.
He is no longer a Dolphin, and as such, I no longer care enough to post about him. Its been a blast guys. No hard feelings on my end.
Well said.Let's not get crazy. I don't think JM will suddenly become a pro bowl player now that he's with the 49er's. If you step back, remove 90% of the drama, and look at it from a football/business perspective it makes sense for everyone involved.
The only person that has anything to lose is Martin. It will be up to him to determine if he succeeds or not.

Chuck ... you are aware that Miami didn't fire Kevin O'Neill because of actions committed against Jonathan Martin, correct? The team had to fire one of the best trainers in the NFL, possibly just to appease [Martin].

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/03/xtreme-morning-win-jonathan-martin-49ers/Martin enters into a unit that employs a three-time Pro Bowl left tackle in Joe Staley and a much improved former first-round pick in Anthony Davis on the right side. Veteran guard Mike Iupati and center Jonathan Goodwin have both been to the Pro Bowl as the 49ers own one of the most stable offensive lines in the NFL. Martin isn’t likely to crack the starting lineup, but if he’s got the desire to keep playing football, he’s going to find himself among a group of players that is more focused on a potential return trip to the Super Bowl than an offseason one to Las Vegas.
http://www.tmz.com/2014/03/11/jonathan-martin-traded-to-49ers-couldnt-be-happier/TMZ Sports also spoke with 49ers offensive lineman Adam Snyder who tells us he thinks the team is a great fit for Martin. "It's a great new opportunity for him. He's coming in to a great group of guys, specifically the offensive line."
When asked if Martin will be treated with kid gloves due to the situation in Miami, Snyder shot that down -- saying, "We're gonna treat him like any other free agent that comes into our locker room." As for his opinion on the trade -- Snyder says, "If he can help us win a Super Bowl, I'm all for it."

O'Neil has hired an attorney.
His mom is a lawyer...you have a hard time with cold hard facts. I stand by my posts, they don't need any defense or some troll like MTS to endorse them for me. For me and I cant speak for others but it ruins your board credibility which despite our differences I have always treated you with respect and would have appreciated the same in kind instead of juvenile analogies but have it your way.Why don't you give up on the "mom" stuff which you and some others have desperately using to bash Martin the whole thread? All along since he hired the attorney? Probably so. That's often the reason you hire an attorney. Maybe he needed to redraft his will, or start an LLC. Not sure what you are getting at.Ahah! That's been his plan all along --- to sue somebody!O'Neil has hired an attorney.
You've shown nothing his mother had to do with any of this, and there's no lawsuit, so you've been drastically wrong so far. You're not implying that Martin did something wrong, are you? I would say O'Neill did something wrong against a direct report (the asst trainer), and was called on it by Martin.ChuckLiddell said:... seems like its pretty clear that the team fired one of the best trainers in the league based upon testimony from Martin...
My money is on "attorney advises O'Neill that a suit goes nowhere". People often hire an attorney simply to check and see if they've got anything actionable worth taking to court.ChuckLiddell said:That's often the reason you hire an attorney.
How's this logic treating you?New kinder, softer NFL?Limp Ditka said:speaking of brutal and nut jobs, I present to you, RBM!Glad to hear you admit you were wrong. Lots of people would keep on slamming Martin.Martin was a victim.
Case closed. My speculation was wrong in regards to the severity of the taunts and bullying. And I based it on my own experience in high school and college baseball.
This was some brutal treatment.......you should not have to be subjected to this on a daily basis. A metally weak person would crumble. And a person who is head strong and confident......would not deal with this either. It came down to situation of how are you going to handle this? I always felt martin should have dealt with it internally first....I mean really pursue that and keep it in house.
He did not.
Because of that....a lot of players would never trust him. And trust is the cornerstone to being a teammate. Even though it was wrong, and now after reading a lot of this report.....I am disgusted with my favorite NFL team to allow this to go on for so long.....Martin's career is on thin ice as well.
In any case.....no question now. Martin was a victim here and Incognito the ring leader.
Let's move on now......let's start talking about footbal again everyone.
I think you're still wrong with the "players won't trust him because he didn't keep it in house" thing too though. If you run a locker room where players are treated like humans, there's really nothing to worry about.
I'm interested if he's actually any good or not, because I think Seattle would be the perfect landing spot for him. He's got a couple Stanford teammates here, Baldwin has been vocally supportive of him, and if Sherm's got your back, nothing bad is going to happen to you. It's a progressive town, and Carroll is as supportive of players and taking care of them how they need to be as any coach in the league. I can't say for sure this kind of stuff doesn't go on here, but it would shock me. But if he's not good enough as a player, it's a moot point.Lots of rainbows and butterflies in your version of the NFL. Jeez man c'mon. This is a brutal, violent sport played by nut jobs. Speaking in an exclusive interview, Incognito said he was feeling well after treatment. Now he wants to get back on the field. He spoke to 7's Rosh Lowe about his future on the football field. During the interview, Incognito stressed the fact that he wants to come back to South Florida. He is currently in Arizona, but he wants another opportunity to play for the Miami Dolphins.
Rosh Lowe: "How much do you want to return to the Dolphins?"
Richie Incognito: "Returning to the Dolphins was my number one goal from the time I got suspended."
Incognito said he wants to play for the Miami Dolphins again.
Richie Incognito: "I want to return to the community in Miami and resume my playing career as soon as possible."
The offensive lineman recently sought professional help for mental health issues.
Rosh Lowe: "Why did you go into treatment?"
Richie Incognito: "Because I was stressed. I believe in post traumatic stress syndrome, and I believe in private mental health care."
Rosh Lowe: "So the message to Dolphins fans is what, Richie?"
Richie Incognito: "Dolphins fans, Richie is well. Richie wants to come back and play. But the business has to handle the business end, and that's it."
I could be wrong, but I think he goes on the invisible blacklist and never plays in the league again. If he appears to be staying calm and not doing things like Twitter wars and car beatups, I think someone will give him a shot later in the offseason. Not the Dolphins, though.
If there were no injuries I'd agree with you. But if a team loses several starting O-linemen during training camp or preseason and doesn't have much depth, I could see someone taking a shot on him.Touchdown There said:I could be wrong, but I think he goes on the invisible blacklist and never plays in the league again.fatness said:If he appears to be staying calm and not doing things like Twitter wars and car beatups, I think someone will give him a shot later in the offseason. Same thing, that's what some people don't get. People can't be serious when they say his football skill is unrelated to his disposition.Skypager, you're talking about two different things. Talent and baggage. Neither are really up for debate any longer. Incognito has been to a pro bowl as an NFL guard. He's also been in trouble with every team he's ever played on.
It's been discussed ad nauseam that it takes a certain aggressive behavior to excel in the NFL. The successful ones know when to turn it on, and when to turn it off. I really don't care if Incognito ever plays another down in the NFL. But, to say a player can't learn how to to do this with the help of professionals, is ridiculous.Same thing, that's what some people don't get. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/21/league-requires-incognito-to-be-evaluated-before-joining-a-team/Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports, citing an unnamed NFL source, that Incognito may sign a contract with a new team, but that Incognito may not receive compensation or play until he undergoes a “comprehensive [evaluation] by NFL-NFLPA designated medical advisors.” Commissioner Roger Goodell then must review their report and, presumably, approve or reject Incognito’s ability to play.
Given Incognito’s behavior both before and after his suspension, it’s fair for the league to have concerns. It’s not fair, however, if Incognito is being treated inconsistently, or if the NFL is using this requirement as a pretext for further punishment. Indeed, the mere imposition of this requirement could make it even harder for Incognito to find a team that will give him a contract.
While Incognito is hardly a sympathetic figure, he deserves to receive the same treatment as any other player or non-player. Which leads to an obvious question.
Will Colts owner Jim Irsay be required to submit to a similar evaluation before he’s permitted to return to the team?
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/dolphins/2014/03/24/incognito-pouncey-jerry-face-medical-evaluations/6842689/The three offensive linemen named in the Miami Dolphins locker room harassment report completed by an investigator in February will be subject to medical evaluations before being subject to potential discipline, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday.
Investigator Ted Wells concluded Dolphins players Richie Incognito, Mike Pouncey and John Jerry harassed and bullied former teammate Jonathan Martin over the previous two seasons. Incognito was suspended by the Dolphins on Nov. 3 and is now a free agent, but neither Pouncey nor Jerry, who signed a free agent with the New York Giants earlier this month, have been punished.
No punishments will come from Goodell until after testing for any medical or psychological issues. Goodell said the league and NFL Players Association have agreed that this is an appropriate first step.
"Once they have been evaluated, our joint medical professionals will make a determination on whether any treatment is necessary, and if that is a requirement they must fulfill that," Goodell said.
Goodell was asked Monday evening if suspensions are possible, and he refused to speculate.
