Don Blankenship Official Campaign Thread (1 Viewer)

Is it o.k. if I have Jewish family? I love coal. Beautiful clean coal. Sexy, potent, black coal. BIG coal. Coal. For the children. Regardless of how many mines someone might have to explode to get it.

Sorry, no can do. I like his disregard for safety regulations and the lives of coal miners, but disparaging cocaine is a deal breaker.

I just hope the Republican voters of West Virginia can look past his bigger than life, engaging personality and recognize that there really is some depth beyond that, much like the depth of the collapsed mine where 29 miners met their death.

Harry Enten -

More

Still very early in WV... and with a big geographic component to the vote, it could be at least a little while. But right now Blankenship in a distant third...

I love how Trump disavows him not because he is a terrible human being, but because he can't win the election like Roy Moore (who he endorsed)

I don't think Trump endorsed Moore in the primary. He recently said about W. Va. that it would be foolish to do what Alabama did.

It was clever but snarky.  What Democrats want to really forget is they wanted Trump to win the primaries.
Yeah, the SNL skit where future Hillary visits present Hillary and tells her she's facing Trump and they whoop it up sure seems like some comedy writer somewhere missed something -- as did most of us, me included.

That isn't true because we were scared to death he might become President (and we were right in predicting this unmitigated disaster).

It was true according to internal emails within the Hillary campaign and their media minions  as exposed by WikiLeaks.

Maybe you did, but I don't remember a whole lot of that. I remember that when he started to gain a bit of momentum and seemed like a teflon guy, but I don't remember anything but really deep, snarky laughter when he won the primaries. That SNL skit that I mentioned above got major play and major laughter on the coasts and then turned to tears at pianos.

This guy was a student at Marshall when the horrific plane crash with the football team occurred. You would think that incident as well as the tragedy with the miners would have given him a sense of compassion and humanity, yet from what I have seen he seems incapable of showing even basic human emotion.

Why the Left Promoted Trump in the GOP Primary

Trump in this year’s presidential election, it’s worth considering the undeniable role her campaign played in elevating him as the Republican presidential nominee. The bitter irony is that her team started out determined to face Trump rather than any of the other GOP candidates, drawing on the belief that the politically inexperienced, blustering business mogul would be the easiest to defeat.

So what?  We learn more everyday how horrible DJT and those in his circle are -- so the assessment and tactic was spot on -

Maybe lets stop replaying the Patriots losing the Superbowl and work on getting our country back from these mobsters --

But they are repeating the mistake of hoping someone terrible wins a primary in hopes of having an easier victory in the general.   If the person is truly terrible, don't try to aid them.

To paraphrase a huge number of Trump supporters: "If both candidates are pieces of crap who claim to support the present administration, what can you do but pick the one who will be the most entertaining and destructive?  Maybe he'll burn everything down so we can start over."

:bye:

I was freaked out about it starting in about December of 2015.  I said a bunch of times during the GOP primaries that I preferred a 60% chance of President Marco Rubio to a 10% chance of President Donald Trump.

Not everyone agreed with me, but the split around here and with other left-leaning types I spoke with was about 50/50 on that.

I believe both you and squistion. I'd say there was a split here akin to what you're saying.

I wish he would stop following me around.   I try to avoid him like the plague, but he seems to pop up where ever I go.

Look I’ll admit there was a part of me hoping that Blankenship would win last night- sure there was. It’s easier to paint the Republican base as extremist and crazy. They have made some seriously bad choices over recent years. Last night they didn’t, and while intellectually I know thats a good thing, a part of me wanted the circus.

I never felt that way about Trump. Dude terrified me from the beginning. Because I have been dialed in to the immigration debate for years, and been freaking out about populism for years,  I knew from the moment he got off that elevator that he was a real threat to be President.

You guys are interested in all the same issues. Naturally you’re going to show up in the same threads.
Of course and I should be allowed to comment or make an observation on his posts. He made the statement that Blakenship had more Democratic support than anything, which I thought was, um, a bit over-the-top and arguably trolling, which he then admitted or justified by saying:

This whole thread is a sarcastic troll job
and also he later said that his original comment was meant to be:

clever but snarky
I'll agree with the snarky part. So I don't feel my comments here were out-of-line.
