Crabtree is the #38 WR in my standard scoring league. I would say with the bye that he is a WR3/WR4 right now. That could change but he only has one game with double digit targets, 100 yds and a TD. All in the same game against BAL. If I am keeping a backbencher, I want one with high upside and at this time it would seem to be DGB. The trend is good and with the injury to Douglas the door is open for him to solidify a place in a wide open position.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt confirms Dorial Green-Beckham could be in for a bigger role if Harry Douglas (ribs) misses Week 7, but says the team still doesn't want to "overload" the rookie.
Green-Beckham didn't play football last season, but sometimes the Titans talk as if he's never played football. If you think Mariota in this role...no running is good for the guy with a bum knee and he can sling it too.
It should be very similar depending on Douglas. These are two of the stronger armed young QBs in the league. Experience level is somewhat close. This isn't 8 year veteran versus rook. They do have some similarities.

LOL hey man...this is what fantasy is all about! Look at Stefon Diggs. who on earth saw that coming 3 weeks ago while charles johnson was still playing? Diggs saw an opening...a crease of light...and he ceased it.
DGB is a different type of talent, but a beast nonetheless. If he starts and goes 7-95-1 how are they going to sit him down after that for harry douglas? they will find a way to get him his targets moving forward.
It's a gamble, and honestly, I don't even have him in my starting lineup this week. I do believe that if douglas sits DGB will be a factor. But I have other proven options in my lineup. I'm OK with him blowing up on my bench. I look at DGB as my top bench stash in every league. The one that could light the league on fire in the 2nd half of the season and propel my team to unbeatable heights. and if I'm wrong, it won't be the first time, and I'll eat my crow and move right along to the next guy!

I really think your 7-95-1 DGB scenario is going to happen this week. Not starting him either though.

We made this a Rotoworld headline not because Douglas matters. It's because his inactivity against the Falcons puts Dorial Green-Beckham on the WR3 map. Green-Beckham played a season-high 41 percent of the Titans' offensive snaps last week, and should hit the 60-plus percent range on Sunday. Green-Beckham is a tree with 4.49 speed, and Week 7 starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger is a more-than-capable outside-the-numbers passer.

The Titans cut Coffman and activated Rico Richardson. This should scare DGB fans in a very typical super frustrating Whisenhunt way.
He's that typical guy that scoots across the field often from the slot.
I don't like him, I'd have activated McBride.
He is far more like Douglas than DGB.
Hunter and Wright know all three spots. DGB doesn't know the slot. I'd put this at only 70% likely that what you thought yesterday with high hopes for DGB actually happens now. Whisenhunt loves this Rico guy and it's maddening. I don't know of a single fan that has ever been like "yeah Rico" except Whis.
Ya gotta go with DGB, I am. I just hope Whis doesn't rip all your hearts out this week like a comic book villain.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Zach Mettenberger is going to throw deep on Sunday as Marcus Mariota’s injury replacement.
It’s what Mettenberger does best.
He’ll stand in and he’ll take a shot and he’ll launch the ball with a plus-caliber arm.
The question is if he can endure the pounding that could come if the Tennessee Titans' pass protection continues to struggle.
The Titans have given up 20 sacks in five games, and Mariota has taken a lot of hits beyond that.
Mettenberger is less mobile than Mariota, so he can be an easier target for the Falcons' pass rushers.
Pass rush has not been the Atlanta Falcons' best attribute, as the Falcons have only seven sacks. But the Titans have helped some teams get right in areas where they have had troubles.
Mettenberger needs to connect with receiver Dorial Green-Beckham. The rookie has not been the deep threat he’s expected to be so far, and he will play more snaps as receiver Harry Douglas (ribs) is also out.
“We know if we see Mett in the backfield and he’s the quarterback, we know whatever route is deep we’ve got to run those,” Green-Beckham said before Mariota was declared out. “Because there is the possibility that ball is going to be out there.”

Fbg sells subscriptions that provide this info. Even the free podcasts talked DGB up big time this week. If Mettenberger starts the next few weeks expect the DGB train to officially leave the station.

So what happened today ? Picked him up as a stash in my 3 leagues. Wasn't expecting an immediate explosion but a doughnut is not a particularly good sign

Yeah, I picked him up this week hoping if there was going to be any game he would show up it would be this one. Back to the waiver wire for him!
If you're talking to me, or even if you're not. I'll eat some crow. I felt as though this would be dgb's week. I was wrong. I paid the price with goose eggs in every league I started him. Oh well. On to next week.

I like DGB's long term value but a lot of people in here are as disillusioned as the guy who picked DGB in the 14th round in my redraft league.

Yeah, I am holding on in my keeper league, but expecting nothing this year. Like most, a bit bummed that Whizz said he was unleashing the beast last weekend with Douglas out, and then nothing.

I don't consider him start-worthy at all this season but have seen enough to be excited about next season.
Whis reasoned it out as he doesn't know all the plays and if they give him too much, he has to run through them slower and not just run N react.
Ummm call the plays he knows. He's been there months it can't be that limiting PLUS Whis is the same guy that said he would be used more.

I just get the feeling that either DGB's conditioning isn't there, or they just don't think he's up for a full workload yet. I think you may see more of him than in previous weeks, but not a full-time role.
He obviously should, but this is Whiz we're talking about so it probably won't happen.

So whiz is gone now ... I am picking this guy up just to see what happens with a new coach at the helm. I think with all the WW action around the league he is not being talked about at all (for good reason) but with the WR1 getting injured, the old coach gone, there is a reshuffle happening and we could see a huge change in play philosophy where we could see him get more opps now like whath append with Lamar Miller.
I think it speaks to a poor coaching that in this day they cant get this guy up to speed to utilize his skill set by mid season when other coaches have got rookies playing fast right away or at least on the field a ton by mid season, contributing. Hey he will make mistakes, but you know what? Your team sucks anyway so lets get some excitement out there. Its not like the team is trying to play mistake free football to get to the playoffs. Let's see what we got in this kid. Raw Talent can still score if given 50/50 balls.

To be fair to the former regime, it may very well just as much be on DGB for being slow to pick up the pro game (remember he hasn't played in over a year before this season).
All that said, the guy has great physical tools - just throw the ball where he can get it and let him do the work.

This year Nicks spending so much time with the ones, in-game Douglas over either Hunter or DGB.
I really didn't have a prob with how they handled him til the regular season was here. He struggled to pick up the offense, hurt his hammy, returned with a perfect attitude.
It was unreasonable for Whis to hold rookies to knowing all 3 WR spots and vets could just mix in to one spot.
By week 3 of preseason, Nicks shouldn't have been with the 1s. Whis should have known by then. It was presented all summer as if he's starting then poof he's gone. Where's the usual pecking order?

I kinda hope they just force-feed him targets like crazy. Honestly, to me, he has looked lost on the field a lot. But he's big and fast and can catch. If they play to his strengths he can contribute.
ETA: Mularkey did say the young guys would have to earn their opportunities. DGB's mistake lead to Wright's injury, so kinda hard to say he's "earned" more opportunities. Still, the situation is what it is. I think he'll see more targets starting this week.

Well I'd rather see him crash and burn on 12-15 targets a game over the course of 3-4 games and then I can just drop him if he cant hack it. Its the constant not knowing that is frustrating. I mean if he had been getting the Kelvin Benjamin targets last season we would already know if hes worth keeping or not. Instead he costs a roster spot and each week we don't learn anything new. Its not just us, its the fans, the coaching the ownership. I don't think anybody knows what he can do yet from a redraft perspective and his value is cold right now. He is 6'5", fast and can catch. I don't need him to know all the route trees for every position on the field. I just need him to run fades, 9's, posts or hitches on the outside vs smaller corners. It's time to fine out what he can do.

Hopefully, but it's a long way from being good sometimes and looking good most of the time.
He's raw, he doesn't block well, he doesn't know the full route tree. Blah blah blah.
When you have a talent like that on a team going nowhere, put the future there and let him learn by fire.
Have him run some easy routes. Let him go deep fo a few targets per game. Some back shoulder fades, throw him some screens and jump balls on slants.
Just get the ball in his hands. He'll learn as he goes. So dumb. Part of what got Whis fired. Improper usage of the players

I thought he looked very green on a few plays and very slow where I could (I think) tell he was thinking too much and not just running his route. Some plays this week (and handful this year) he is such a beast, honestly Calvin is the only guy I think of. He's just so huge and his arms so long it almost looks unfair to the CB.
I finally got my 6-4 fast guy across from 6-6 fast guy lineup I've been not so patiently waiting for. As I (or really anyone, common sense) expected, the D couldn't matchup with those two and Walker. The result wasn't a pretty offense but the NFL pick on a CB offense. 3 in a row to Hunter or 3 to DGB or 3 to Walker. Boring. Mariota did very well but if he can spread that around better, that safety will start spinning wondering who to help on. Totally fine for a first time.
Now I'm hopeful Wright returns and goes to the slot. He can get plenty of work there and still be significant.
Hunter used to look like DGB some. Not as big but very upright and uncomfy. I was staring some and realizing by comparison he runs wayyy better now and looks the part. MM had at least 2 prob 3 bad passes to Hunter but he could have had a good day. It was there, he beat his man. At some point it hit me, Hunter has dived 7-8 times today. MM has to be more accurate. I don't expect DGB or Hunter to get their big frames down and catch many diving balls.
Very exciting step here. A bad defense which is a caveat here but if Andrews wasn't pulled they'd have had a 100 yard back, a line with no sacks, TE and two big WRs giving D trouble...surely the start of something. Mularkey needs to be the anti-Whis now and build on it instead of wreck it and put Douglas, Wright, and Rico out there next week.
