Everyone rips on TO.....go ahead a take a rip at Archuleta.

As much as Gibbs prefers full participation at offseason workouts, he said he had made an arrangement with safety Adam Archuleta, who has his own conditioning program but has agreed to alternate between Washington and his personal workout routine on the West Coast.

Huh? If Gibbs isn't worried about this, why should we be?

BINGO....as is Parcells with Owens.Yet everyone rips Owens for missing workouts.

I've ripped on Archuletta over workouts exactly as much as I've ripped on TO over workouts. What more do you want?

So..... elobarate for us? What do you think of Archuleta? Is he selfish?

A cancer?

Doesn't care about his team?

I read it. What I got was this: T.O. remains a high maintenance prima donna that could not give his new and highly repected coach some respect on this issue. Instead, in his first act of fitting in with his new team he demanded, and got, special treatment, treatment that before was reserved for Cowboy legends, with injury, and who had served the franchise for a dozen years. Parcells refused to comment and Jerry Jones in an attempt to hide the growing rift again spoke on behalf of Parcells since he can not trust what might come out of Parcells' rightfully disgusted mouth.

Not at all.....I just find the irony quite funny and transparent.

I'm tired of hearing the TO crap.
If you are honestly trying to compare anyone's situation with Owens, you are clearly :fishing: I certainly don't think I'm an Owens basher, but he is his own worst enemy.

I am trying to prove a point.btw...I think it's working.

To be fair, you didn't really give anyone a chance to express their displeasure with Archuleta before you posted this. That story is buried in an article about the Redskins draft plans. Very few people even knew this happened.

I am giving you the opportunity to do so right now.Have at it...

Your thread title is "Where's the outrage" implying people should have already been complaining about this. That's my only point. I think workout attendence is up to the teams to figure out. If the coaches and players don't care, I don't care.

Sure, but your point is about this one thing, which makes up about 1% of why people bash TO.
I agree Owens has some issues. What percentage would you blame the media then for the other 99%? I am curious.

Hi Bankerguy,I'll say the exact same thing about Archuleta (who's every bit the workout freak that TO is): If Gibbs was worried about it, he should send his guys to work out with Archuleta. Guarantee it's tougher than what they're getting now.

If you are going to compare the two, I would first need to know if Archuletta has some previous bad behavior that he would need to compensate for and whether or not he promised his club and their fans that he wouldn't be a problem.

Oh, and the reason there will be little outrage is because very few people care about Archuleta. People are outraged more about things they care about.

I'll gladly change the title......my point is no one will say one word about it.

To add, I love TO. But he does this to himself.

It's exactly like Ron Artest. No way does Kevin Garnett get a suspension for the elbow Artest threw. Artest made his bed though. And he's held to a different standard. And I'm fine with that.

Sure thing.I never ripped on TO for his workouts.

I similarly am not ripping on Archuletta for his workouts.

A thread that starts out in an accussatory, all-encompassing manner like that seems intended to set the tone to lead to pointless, non-constructive bickering. Which happens more than enough on its own without setting things up that way from the get go.

Joe,I know your stance on TO, and I agree with you. I just laugh at all the other threads (That I included above) They all make this out be a huge deal when it was TO.

This post is designed to give equal opportunity to all those who posted about TO, to come here and tell what a terrible guy Archuleta is as well.

That is all.

Poor TO. The media is just so mean to him.
....and the media would never make up a story or overstate the truth. :banned:

Title edited, I fail to see the big deal with the original.

Of course the media would, that's no surprise. The rules of engagement between the media and celebs are clear. The problem with TO and several other celebs that end up being frequent media targets is that they either refuse to recognize the rules or just don't care. If you call your QB gay or say the team would be better off with another QB, then the media is going to cover it and many are going to blast you. It's pretty simple. If you go ahead and say it anyways it's no one's fault but your own.

I'm outraged . . . . that the Redskins are paying Archuletta so much money. Oops - different topic.

If BP doesn't care if Owens is at voluntary workouts, I don't either. ANd, if Gibbs could care less, me too.

Weak fishing trip here.

If you can't understand what TO has done during his career to deserve getting ripped on, I dont know what to say there.

I'll try harder on my next fishing trip. ;)

Not a bad point BG. I'd have to say multiple reasons....some not very fair, but there all the same

1. Past history, spot light is on Owens, everyone wants to know what he'll do next. Everyone is waiting for the next big thing, Archuleta not so much

2. Position, WR versus Safety?? WR needs some gelling with his QB, safety again not so much

3. Parcells and TO going at it is sooooo much more entertaining than Gibbs and Archuleta.

Personally I don't care who shows up for what workouts in April so long as they are working out.....particularly vets. So long as they around when mini-camp starts.

Not at all. As much as I believe T.O. is bar none the best wide receiver in the game and Archuleta has little more value than a flaming bag of dog pooh, Archuleta has something T.O. does not. That is the ability to be humble and apologize even if he doesn't believe he is wrong. It is part of being part of a team.FYI - Shockey gets ripped a lot in New York for working out in Miami instead of New York, so you might want to add him to your list too.

I see this more as a mutual agreement rather than a player forcing his will on his team (ala TO).

One of the things that intrigued Washington's coaches about Archuleta is his unique training regimen which focuses on explosive movements. It's something that the Redskins training facility probably isn't capable of handling easily. Therefore it was probably in both sides best interests for Archuleta to work out on his own.

I also agree that it's more important for a receiver to work with his team (and QB) than it is for a strong safety to work out with the rest of the defense.

Oh yah and don't forget Gibbs has allowed his University of Miami players (Portis, Taylor, and Moss) to work out in Miami in the past.
