Let's just hope it's not something that will linger or keep him out for a long time.

I think he briefly returned to the game after he got injured, which suggests it probably isn't a season-ending type of deal.

We're not talking about Jamaal Charles, here. Martin was kind of an iffy play coming into the season anyway. And that entire offense looked terrible. Carolina's D is really solid, but I still have a hard time seeing him being a worthwhile weekly play.

However, it is concerning that he really, really sucked in the passing game. He whiffed on at least 3 blocks, several of which led to big plays the other way, and he had a bad drop as well. That doesn't bode well considering that Lovie/Tedford were already looking for someone to take the passing down role.

If you took Martin this year it was probably with a high daft pick and you have to wait and see I guess, but I don't see it getting a whole lot better. I would hope for a decent game sometime soon and sell for as much as you can get. Maybe you could pull a fast one on the Trent Richardson owner.

I'd say the bad part about that is actually you ranking Stacy ahead of Martin in the first place. Martin hurt his shoulder -- his leg didn't fall off.

And now Charles Johnson is out for a bit, though very much likely to be back before their next matchup. They likely looked good vs Tampa Bay because Tampa Bay just isn't that good.

Given all the trials (literally and figuratively) and tribulations of other RBs in the NFL, though, Martin may make a decent enough #2 type RB, especially in those matchups.

Even if Martin's ankle is healed up, he could very well be behind both Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims. Martin has averaged a brutal 3.36 YPC over the last two seasons, also struggling in pass protection. Inherited by this Lovie Smith regime, he was on the trade block at last week's deadline. Josh Gordon in a skillet (flash in a pan). Time to cut the cord. He is not endeared by his current staff and hasn't played well enough to make them shut up and take it. He will never be relevant in Tampa again. The season is close to being lost and Smith's in that "develop/build/finding out what the team is going to shape up to be" phase.

Smith is not going to spend the next month of meaningless games giving Martin enough run to make him fantasy worthy. there is no real-life motivation to do it since he would be better off tinkering while he is still in his honeymoon phase, finding out what he's got with this team.

Take out his 1 huge game vs the raiders and here are his numbers.

421 carries for 1659 yards 4.1. 8td, 57 receptions for 517 yards 1 TD.

Per game 20 for 79 .4 TD, 3 rec for 25 yards .05 TD

I think it's possible Martin takes over as the backup ahead of Rainey but all indications are the Bucs want to take a good, long look at Sims the rest of the way. That's smart. They need to find out if he can be a starting RB or if they have to look for one in the draft next since Martin almost certainly won't be back.

Not to be obnoxious, but what exactly were you telling at that point? That without the Raiders game he averaged 16.1 PPG in a PPR setting?

I will give you credit that you made the qualitative assertion that Schiano was force feeding him which speaks to a lack of confidence in his talent level.

He's had 1 game over 100 yards in the last season and a half... His rookie year was an anomaly and he looks to be done.
