Dr. Z = Bitter
Always look forward to this and he's usually dead-on. Great anecdote about Theismann at the end of this column. Here's hoping that we see more of the five star crew next season and none of Bryant Gumbel.
Amen! What an idiot!Loved his rankings....Only thing I would change is instead of 1 star for G. Gumbel, I would of given him 0 stars. I hate listening to that guy. I literally watched the NFL Netwrok games on mute.
Dr. Z = Bitter
definitely a good read! I'm not sold on Baldinger, though, he seems like a John Madden redux, he tries to hard to be a Madden-esque color guy..and Ian Eagle could lull a crack addict to sleep with his delivery. he is too dry and seems bland. We had to listen to him for years on WFAN here in NY, and that was painful, not unlike jamming yarn needles into your eyeballs. those poor Jets fans have to listen to him nearly every week. ugh..Vermeil is very good, Jaws is too. Nessler is vastly underrated as a commentator! Tirico hasn't got a clue as to what he's doing, its like he's just dying to say , with a whispered voice: "Tiger is using a 5-wood on this shot......."Buck is just plain lousy..We all loved getting Jaws and Vermeil in the same booth for that week 1 match up and Nessler is pretty good at setting his color guys up....Nessler can really get you excited about what you are watching especially a decent tight game that has some drama in the balance in the 2nd half.I agree almost across the board with Z in that article. Kornheiser is a joke but Mike Tirico is worse because he actually has been doing this for a long time....I hate him, there I said it. Madden and Michaels seemed to really climb a few notches this year but the production value of Sunday Night Football was on a different playing filed than everyone else. I was running to the TV to watch the games and get some insight from CC in studio...the studio crew needs some work but this looks like the show for grown ups.I like Pitts and have for a lot of years but they just cannot get someone that has any staying power with him. I think Pitts does an excellent job of making you feel like you are at the stadium with him.I like Simms and Aikman quite a bit but agree that Buck and Nantz, moreso Buck is basically a liability in that booth to the point you almost tune them both out.Z is pretty dead on with his analysis of the analysts.
This has had me laughing for almost a minute straight......and Ian Eagle could lull a crack addict to sleep with his delivery. he is too dry and seems bland. not sure why people are so down on him
i know hes overly opinionated but thats what I want in an analyst
i dont want a politician who plays it safe and dumbed down Phil Simms
