Draft Chat With our Draftniks Matt Waldman and Sigmund Bloom Tonight D (1 Viewer)

Ingram has devastating knee issue according to Lombardi :)We'll see if it happens.
I missed that, did he say that? I don't think that is accurate at all.
He said leading up to draft that teams were taking Ingram off boards due to degenerative knee. Just being a smart aleck about Lombardi's calls.
ok gotcha. I don't like Lombardi and Lacanfora. Seem like a couple geeks to me. But then my wife thinks I'm a total geek right now too.

:lmao:

"Michael Lombardi said weeks ago that the best thing for Ryan Mallett is to not get selected high"

I thought that was why he's in the third round.

NE takes Mallett to

1) trade Hoyer to a QB needy team for way too much a la Whitehurst

2) develop Mallett and trade him for a king's ransom a la Schaub

The Vereen train continues to sputter.....Avoid Pats RB's at all costs.
I don't know Ridley isn't that much better than Charles Scott. If this pick was Delone Carter or Bilal Powell, yeah Id worry. Ridley was a misfire imo
Really strange pick, I agree. I guess they think Ridley can do what BJGE did, Vereen can be more effective as a 3rd down back and Woodhead can continue to be a gadget player. If Ridley stinks up the joint and they don't re-sign BJGE, Vereen could definitely walk into a good situation. Hard to put my finger on what is happening.

I think Mallet is the best QB of this class...Ras-I Dowling was the CB I hoped the Steelers would get.....Cant stand that the Patsies got both these guys

Gruden is the only one I enjoy. I would probably like Mel better without Boomer, who really really needs to go

If Rams don't take a Hankerson or other WR here, you have to think that they are feeling good about Avery and/or Alexander and have a tentative deal in place to bring Clayton back

Titans need Dline help for sure. Solid pick. Titans are addressing needs in this draft though, not drafting BPA. Never a good thing in my opinion.

Rams get Austin Pettis, a possession #2 type wideout in a best case scenario. People will overdraft based on Bradford and their lack of a proven #1. There are probably at least 5-10 WRs not drafted yet I will take over Pettis.

Washington does have good opportunity, so I won't be surprised to see him get into the first round of a lot of rookie drafts, but I see him as a #2 who will only flourish with a strong #1, and he is inconsistent - think Massaquoi

#Packers WR coach Edgar Bennett said Cobb has ability to carry ball in Wildcat and out of the backfield.
Also talked about his intelligence, maturity, and instant fit with team. Wouldn't be surprised if Nelson is odd man out despite heroics.
Cobb is slow. Nelson will stick. At best (for Cobb) for the first two years would be the same number of catches as Nelson
Not talking immediate. Talking down the line. Cobb isn't slow unless you think average speed for a WR is 4.3 - then yes, I agree he's slow.

Packers say he has good hands. So that makes him the antidote to Jones
In a ppr league, there weren't many better fits for Pettis than St. Louis.
agreed, but Ill let someone else buy that ticket. Not sure he will get separation consistently or do much after the catch. Not a recipe for fantasy stardom.

Good opportunity for him from a depth chart standpoint, but they still need a QB answer.I'd like it better if Santana was sticking around for sure.

I could see #2 happening, but not #1. Whitehurst was a 3rd round pick who was traded for a 3rd round pick. Brian Hoyer was signed as an undrafted free agent who hasn't done anything to suggest he's worth trading a mid-pick for. If anything, he'll be traded for a late 5-7th rounder, but personally I doubt anyone would even give them a pick at all for him.

Freakin Pats:

@AdamSchefter: OAK traded its 2012 2nd-rd pick to NE for Pats 3rd and 4th this year. New England now has double 1s and 2s in 2012. Again.

The Pettis pick is a head-scratcher. Hands are first-round quality. Speed, routes, and play away from the ball needs a lot of work. Really think this was a poor pick with other receivers available. Pettis will have to become an insanely better route guy to become a solid starter.

Disappointed with this pick.

Cobbs going to be the new Donald Driver. Book it.

Hoyer has developed very well, looked the part in limited action and was far enough along as a rookie that the Pats let him be the only backup to Brady on the roster the year after he tore his ACL. He is well regarded around the league is one of the most likely current backups to get a chance to start somewhere eventually.

Only thing I can figure is that he could be a big redzone target. But still, I'm less than impressed with the Rams draft this year.

Not a fan of Titus at all, but I see what the Lions are thinking here. Bring him in slowly as a stretch the field slot guy and then transition from Burleson to him in time if he develops some physical edge and consistency.
Why are you down on Titus? I may not have seen as much of him as you (very probable) but I thought he was pretty athletic and had good hands. Nice opportunity here to become a very viable NFL WR2.
Inconsistent hands/ball skills and gets pushed around way too easy by physical corners
OK - can he be a slot / WR3 then? Detroit certainly lacks there as well. Moving to the slot could help with the press coverage, although I'm sure teams will scout him and jam him if he isn't in motion. If that's his game, then that does limit his viability and makes him a reach here in Round 2.
Heard on local radio today, Ochocinco has been catching balls with Calvin Johnson and Matt Stafford this week.
:unsure:I'd like that. Would think that titus makes a much better wr3/slot guy then a wr2.

He is short, and slow (compared to Nelson/Jennings) Nelson is 6'3" and ran the 100 in college at 10.8. (edit 10.6) (edit - Cobb is 5'10" - he will be the return guy and #3 WR when driver goes - Pack really needed a return guy)

Patriots just stole Oakland's 2nd rounder in 2012.
Please.Belichick has officially jumped the shark. What TALENT has he actually gotten in this draft? He basically traded it all away for future picks. Is wussing out of drafting for future picks going to make a team better?I'm astonded at how everyone is falling over Bill when he did NOTHING in this draft.Absolutely NOTHING.

had to switch to th NFL Network. Boomer is unwatchable. Both Kiper and Gruden look at him like your crazy uncle at xmas,, they silently and politely look his way, and then ignore whatever he just said. when he's done blathering they just start talking about something new.
