Draft Day Surprises (1 Viewer)

Right about now(week before the draft) we feel like we almost have the entire first round figured out. However, there is always a few head scratchers that completely blindside us all on draft day.

Remember last year Darius heyward -Bey was the first WR off the board...who saw that coming?

Post your draft day surprise so you can brag later about how you knew this was gonna happen all along.

I will go first....

Jermaine Gresham will come off the board before Dez Bryant.....

If CJ Spiller is on the board when the Titans draft, he will be a Titan....CJ and CJ on the field together would be nasty and unstoppable.

Which would mean PleasantlyPlumpDale would be going somewhere, and maybe make my acquiring him on the cheap this offseason worthwhile... :coffee: Since these are just surprises and not necessarily needing to have detailed analysis behind it, I'd say Tebow to MIN at 1.30 provided Jimmy is off the board then...

Lendale will be traded during the draft, he doesnt want to be there. If you are gonna keep you backup RB on the bench you might as well get a newer one.

Sticking to the prospects I know, I will say I wouldn't be surprised if Devin McCourty is the first Rutgers player drafted, before Anthony Davis.

I have a sneaking suspicion that things get off to a bang right away when the Rams trade the 1 to Cleveland and drops to the 7 and they progress to drop down further doing a trade with Philly to get another 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the pick giving them the 24, 3 2nds, 3rds to work with to rebuild a team with a ton of holes in a very deep draft.

I'm not really up on the Titans needs, so I don't know how feasible that is. I can't imagine a defense trying to stop Chris Johnson and CJ Spiller splitting out of the backfield.

More of a hope than a guess, but mine is that the Steelers trade Ben R for some decent value (1st and 2nd rounder picks at least).... Raiders (because of their reputation for taking on questionable character guys), Seattle, or SF (because they each have 2 first round picks) are my guess/hope.

Not a chance. He'll never be accepted there.

Demaryias Thomas to San Diego

Ryan Mathews to New England

I am 99% sure that the Vikings will not take Tebow with the 30th pick. That is just a lack of respect for the team that hasn't had a bad draft since Childress became the coach.

Lions will shock the world and draft Okung, then Tampa trades down for prized Suh, since they are too cheap to pay top 3 money. It will be the Suh sweepstakes.

The only reason I thought this up is the glaring need for a return specialist and the possibility of them moving LenDale. If they could get a second rounder for White and feel pretty confident about there depth at other positions, I would almost think it was a possibility.

What reputation of "character guys"? The Raiders of the 1970's were some characters, but the Raiders of now are mostly clean. Which player strikes you as bad news on the Raiders? They have some immature guys yes, but no criminals. And no, please keep your Big Ben. No thanks.

Oakland drafts CJ Spiller.
Spiller is not a first round talent, he won't have the room to kick it outside like in college. He's comparable to Reggie Bush, but not a main cog in any offensive plan. I like J. Best much better. Raiders don't need another offensive weapon, Cable already hinted that both lines need major help. That's where he's going.

Claussen to SF given they've stated numerous times Smith is their guy, they signed Carr as backup, and FBG favorite Nate Davis is their 3rd guy.

No offense to the current group intended... I'm old so I was referring back to the 70's with that remark.

Even though I drafted Spiller in the PDSL league, I'd laugh if Spiller was drafted by a team that doesn't need a RB. That does two things, it makes those holding the 1.2 squirm a little and it could cause him to drop as far as 1.4 or 1.5.

Honestly, what do you think the likelihood of any team giving a 2nd for White is? Even if they traded him they have Ringer. The Titans need defense now, not Spiller. Stranger things have happened but I don't see it. Of course that's why it's a surprise, it just seems you like the cute idea of CJ and CJ.

Now if Clausen were available for the Titans... :coffee:

Packers select Dez Bryant.
If he's there at pick 23, it's a lock that TT either picks Dez or trades the pick. I would love to see him on the Pack.
So was the same case last year with Crabtree.....that didn't happen.I think the 49ers drafting Dez Bryant will be a surprise. Singletary would then have two potentially great Wr's....to go along with V. Davis....and they can all run block well and our physical.

I'm not saying it's at all likely that Dez falls to pick 23. I'm saying that if he falls, the Pack would be crazy not to take him.

I agree as well. I have a close buddy that follows the Pack and is a big draft guy. He said that Crabtree was ahead of Raji on TT's board last year and expected them to take him, b/c that's TTs philosophy.

Bradford, Suh and McCoy will NOT be the first three players drafted. Specifically, I could see McCoy dropping out of the top tier.

Well, no disrespect intended but I doubt your friend saw the real TT draft board.

Probably right with White, they tendered him at the 2nd round level so that is at least one team. This is not a very likely senario, I understand that. I also don't see Spiller as a #1 back, I think he will go somewhere that has a #1 already.

The Steelers draft Arrelious Benn with their pick at #18.

In a related, but unsurprising, event Idiot Boxer's head implodes.

Cleveland takes Tebow in round 2.
I think much of the scuttlebutt about Tebow has been smokescreen, and that a few teams are willing to spend a first on Tebow.Given that, I predict that Tebow's got about an 80% chance of being taken in the first round ... and that if he falls out of the first, he goes no later than pick #44 (New England's first of two 2nd rd picks)

Gerald McCoy drops out of the top 5.

Taylor Mays is not selected in the 1st.

Neither is Jason Pierre-Paul.

Giants take Mike Iupati.

Roger Saffold is a first round pick.

Golden Tate taken before Dez Bryant.

absolutely. The 4th best WR on the board? We don't even need a 1st round WR, but to take Benn when there's a decent chance he's there in the 2nd...yes, my head would explode.

This was going to be my post as well. Heard a little something that Cleveland might have interest in that, and then the Rams would take Claussen at #7.

Seattle trades up in the 2nd round to take Tebow.

Pouncey falls to the 2nd and Atlanta can't resist and trades up to get him
