Draft Dominator is LIVE (1 Viewer)

I am still trying to figure out the auction features. In an auction, one doesn't follow a draft order so how do you get the draft order to more or less go away.
For Auctions, just ignore the Round and Pick in the Main Window. Highlight the player from the player pool as normal, use the combo box to select the team, and then hit the Move Player button.

fyi.... I fixed the problem runtime 9 error that I was having with it...I had to uninstall with the uninstall file that came with the download...Then re-installed and it worked fine... Only difference in the setup from attempt #1 and attempt #2 was when I entered in the team names... The first time (when it didn't work), I entered in all the team names and then altered their assigned number manually in order to create the draft pick list.... The 2nd time, I entered the 12 teams as they were scheduled to pick in the first round and I never had any other problems...
Blend might be on to something...I'm going to need some help narrowing down this Run-time 9 error. What are the steps leading up to the error? What screens were you on? What data did you enter? Anything would help. Right now its like trying to find a needle in a proverbial haystack.I really don't think it is an Operating System problem... but just in case list your OS too.

Run-time error '9':Subscript out of range
Uninstalled, re-installed, and still getting the same error. It worked fine until i entered the scoring and clicked OK. Then i got that error, and can't do a darn thing about it. :(
After you uninstall, you need to go to the /Program Files/DraftDominator directory and manually delete the configuration file before you re-install. I had the same problem even after I uninstalled and re-installed the program. I uninstalled one more time, and I noticed that the config file was still there. After deleting it, re-installing, and re-entering my scoring, etc., it seems to be working fine.

i liiiiiiiiiiike it!!!

i think this will be the first year i (and anyone in my league for that matter) have a laptop at my draft...

I may have found the problem, or at least part of it. After playing around with the app a little bit, I went back into the setup, and unselected the "My Team" checkbox (no team selected as my team) on the team names page. After clicking OK, I received the runtime error 9. The first time that I tried to run the app, I also unselected the My Team checkbox. I re-installed and left the box checked. Everything worked fine until I went back in to setup and turned off "My Team".BTW, I'm running Windows XP

potsie hit it. :( I just wonder why i had the error in the first place. Btw Bruce, i am running XP.

bruce,i encounter the error immediately after plugging in my scoring system and clicking "submit"
Zippy,Can you email me your scoring.dat file from your C:\Program Files\DraftDominator subdirectory.Email: Henderson@footballguys.comThis is really bugging me.Thanks
i will email it tomorrow morning.i have not done anything with the team names, or the my team checkmarks.i have not unistalled, but have re installed over top of the programwhen i did this it would not even start up without the run time 9 error.

I don't have PPC2003 yet... It has only been out for a few days... and unfortunately mine was purchased before the cut-off date, so I'm going to have to fork out the $30 bucks for it. I'm going to wait and see how the reviews shake out.I have an Axim at my disposal, and really like it. I won it on Casino night at the last conference I was at. Hopefully David can post the screen shots. They look really cool.If I had access to a Palm who knows? I understand that the development software for the Palm is free... I just need one to try it out on... any loners out there? :wall:
I think David or Joe should find you a PDA with Palm OS so you can go to work on this. There's got to be many others in the same boat as me. Come one FBG's! Doesn't anyone else want to use the Lite version with Palm OS on your handlheld? :wall:
To back up Bruce...I would love to have a Palm OS version of draft dominator for my phone (samsung i330). I will look for my old Palm Pro...IF I can find it I'll send it your way to use as you like (testing?). Not sure I can find the thing though.....

I just ordered the 2003 upgrade - I'm a PPC novice but I'll pass along anything worthy of note. Regrading Palm - who cares?!?! Stick with the Ax!

Thanks for the tip about that. But I think that Draft Status is the only place where you can input the amount paid for a player. In any rate, that's a minor thing...easy enough to work around.Also...in my original post I complained about the over the top values for players. That was my bad. I had changed the fudge factor to 1.0 instead of leaving it at 0.0. That doubled the price. So all is good. Thanks. This thing is very very good.

Yea, when I said Main Window, I meant the Draft Status Window. So here is a clarification:For Auctions, just ignore the Round and Pick in the Draft Status Window. Highlight the player from the player pool as normal, use the combo box to select the team, enter the auction amount, and then hit the Move Player button.

this was the problem I was having... This is what I did... The first time, I used Windows' program removal tool and it didn't work ... If you go into the draft dominator folder, there is an uninstall file there. I used it and then deleted teh entire draft dominator folder. Once I did that, and re-installed, I no longer rec'd the runtime 9 error on startup...

I don't see any other way to account for keepers except to just run the 1st 3 rounds of the draft (if 3 keepers) and then start the actual draft at round 4....Is this the way to do it??Excellent job guys

For all of you guys getting the run-time error: are you trying to set the timer at an extremely high number? I was doing this and got the error. I went with a lower number of seconds and problem solved.

The Draft Dominator is AWSOME baby! I've practiced with it for a regular draft and doing an auction. They both work great. And to boot, you don't have to be logged on to the internet to use it. Great Work DD.

Go to VIEW > KEEPER LIST. There you can assign keepers without having to start the draft.

Is there a way to sort by something other than VBD in the overall window?I really don't want kickers in the mix during the second round. Thanks! Great Job!

This is where custom baselines come in. The DD & VBD app both need the ability to allow custom baselines to be input by the user. IMO a custom baseline is one of the best ways to consider position scarcity and produce a vbd ranked overall list more inline with want most users want. If the K baseline was around the 3rd ranked K projected fantasy pts then they wouldn't showup in the 2nd rd.Please consider allowing the user to input their own baselines.

When Going through the Keeper List, how do you skip a player?Going along adding, got up to the Tampa Bay Defense, No one kept them, can't get past them to keep going?

u just have to go to the player pool list and select the player that shoudl be kept.. when that player is highlighted it automatically is listed in the keeper window and you can then select move player (or whatever that option is)...

What Blend said...Some other people were unaware that you can click on the player pool to select a player. This works for both the Draft Status window and the Keeper List window. Once the player is selected, click the Move Player button.Has anyone found the Easter Egg yet? ;)

Dumb Question #2How does it update with Current Projections as they are released.I had this problem last year with the Trade Dominator, and eventually stopped using it.

I found one problem with the Draft Dominator. In the SETUP window, General Tab under League Variables it does not let you enter decimal points for starters.

Jackel I dont think its a big deal to fix. Some of the other yellow boxes allow you to use decimal points.

For example under the scoring tab you can enter .02 int the yellow input box for QB - Pts per passing yard. That particular box is formated so that you can enter decimal in it. The yellow input boxes under the general tab are formated so that you can enter only whole numbers. I believe all that has to be done is to reformat the cell to allow you to input decimals.

Oh I see. You will have to come up with your own flex calculation then. And when they fix the decimal problem you will be able to enter 1.3 or 1.4 or whatever you want for QB.

I've been taking a lot of heat for not allowing decimals on the scoring tab. It was just an oversight on my part. My league uses only whole numbers. But rest assured it will be in the next release.Projections at first will be handled by downloading a separate file. Eventually there will be an "Update Projections" button.

so i am better off leaving the flex at zero and applying flex values on the regular position list. are they going to allow that for qbs?

cool. never mind. this thing is gonna be sweet at my draft. any idea when the next version will be out?

my league uses a flex for all positions including qb. any way that can be worked in?
I would also like this feature. IMO it would be ideal if the positions that apply to flex can be configured. That way it could include any combination of positions.Any way to get this in one of the near term releases?

If this is as simple as adding decimal points to the scoring input fields, then yes it will be in the next release. If it is not, you might have to explain what you are after.

bruce,i asked early on about trading draft picks.does this have to be done manually by adjusting the draft order, or is there an easy way?

Bruce,I finally got mine to give me the Run-time 9 error. It occurred when I was in setup under scoring information.I went to change the QB pts/ per pass attempt. It was originally 0 becaues it wouldn't take decimals, but I changed it to 1 just to play around with it.After closing out of setup, "BAM!" Run-time 9 error.I can't even open up the program now. I am going to have to uninstall and reinstall it again.I must say though, initally, just playing around with this and I love it. I can't wait to whip out my laptop at the draft this year.-Soggy

I was just simulating my slow online fantasy draft that is in progress, currently up to the end of round 9, on the Draft Dominator.

Great job!

It is an awsome tool and now I can get rid of a ton of paper to keep track of teams, picks and cheetsheets.

I have one nitpick, one question and one suggestion for a future version.

Nitpick:

Chris Redman QB/Chi is listed as a rookie.

Labrandon Toefield RB/ Jax is not listed as a rookie.

Question:

Is there any way to move a player that was previously picked?

I know the "Undo Last Move" button will undo the last pick, and I could hit that many times to get to the pick I want to change, but what if a player was traded mid draft or, in my case, I gave the wrong team a pick and I want to change the team a player is assigned to?

Suggestion:

A suggestion for a future version of the Draft Dominator.

How about working in the Pick Value Calculator into the Dominator. Then we could evaluate draft pick trades during to draft.

I don't know how difficult a task that would be, but just a thought on adding an additional tool to an already incredible program.

Again, thanks for the effort and great work. :yucky:

I just wanted to say that last year my biggest concern was that you could not alter the draft order as a result of traded picks. That has been solved very nicely this year. The tool is amazing and you did a great job putting it together.

bruce,i asked early on about trading draft picks.does this have to be done manually by adjusting the draft order, or is there an easy way?
I am curious about this as well....One other item that I'd be interested in. I'd like to be able to see who holds the next three or 4 picks -- perhaps in the draft summary window a listing of the next couple of teams to pick coudl be worked in?Thanks again, I think it's a great tool.

Right now you have to do it manually. I'm going to add some kind of trade support before I'm done. Last year this was accomplished by returning the player to the player pool, and then assigning a new team to him. This year I hope to be able to move from one team to another with ease.As far as the next 4 picks are concerned look at the Team Stats window. It shows every teams next pick.

I may be a dolt :) , but could someone explain the advantages of this Draft Dominator application over and above the VBD application?

The only differences, which I think are relatively insignificant, for the drafter are:

- the DD app electronically prompts you who is the next best VBD player instead of using the VBD app cheatsheet / paper check-off.

- the DD app tracks the number of players per position for each team (good for dynamic drafting).

The biggest advantage I see that DD has is for the commissioner for keeping track of the draft (time, teams, picks, etc.)

Am I off base? :banned:
