Draft Dominator (1 Viewer)

As a first year paying member of FBG, I used the Draft Dominator to guide me during my draft. Now that my season is over, I drafted again using the FGB pre-season predictions. At the third spot with my league settings, the DD drafted me an insane RB corp:

LJ

KJ

Gore

A. Green

:lmao:

The WR position was without big studs but workable (Mason, Coles, Clayton, Wilford and Taylor). The QB's were Brooks and Plummer (ouch!) :X and the TE was Gates. :lmao:

Overall, I am pleased with the DD suggested RB selections and plan to use it again next year.

How has it worked for you?

If it wasn't for injuries and me making a ridiculous trade, it would have worked out great! My first 5 draft picks were:Rudi JohnsonClinton PortisRandy Moss - (only bad one)Donovan McNabbFrank Gore - (traded him for TO in week 2)That being said, I am in my championship game and I will definitely use it again!!! :hot:

I think I'm in the same boat as you were last year. I joined FBG too late (after the draft) to take advantage of the drafting tools. I went back and did to a mock draft today after reading your post. I used the actual draft picks for our league, but noted the FBG top player suggested in the position (FB position not draft position) I chose [ie] not necessarily the suggested pick. If I'd have had DD, I would have improved 6 of the 14 picks I had.I'll most definetly use DD next year.

First year using the tool after using FFToday's compiler last year. I'm in two leagues, and finished as the top seed in my main league and second seed in my other league. Playing in the bowl game in both this weekend.

I'll definitely buy this tool again next year.

Interesting side note about DD (That may only interest me) - in two of my leagues our four team divisions stay the same every year. Therefore, we're getting a nice little rivalry going. I used the DD weighting feature to focus on the Divisional game weeks. I went 9-3 in Division play. One league I got the #2 playoff seed, the other I finished 7-7. Now, can I attribute my divisional success to the DD? I think so. Why? I'm actually not sure. However, I know that I avoided bye week issues on Divisional game weeks.

I used the Draft Dominator as a reference tool. I had an idea of who I'd target and when, but then double checked my picks using the DD.

I'll certainly use it again.

Unfortunately, I did use the DD this year. I went with the DD picks about 70 percent of the time. I got coles, evans and maroney very late in the draft. When I ignored the DD, I kept picking WR/RB's instead of a quality QB or Defense. The Defense was so valuable in my league this year, both the Ravens and Bears owners are 1 and 2 in points and are playing in the championship game. I think it's a good product and would recommend it to anyone outside my league :)

I use the "custom cheatsheet" from the DD as a reference for 2 years now and am very pleased for the most part with the outcome.

before the season i had heard all great things about the DD and how it won so many people leagues.

Well, I used it this year and finished 4-9, my worst season ever as a fantasy football GM and the first time I had not finished in the money in any league I have entered.

My team looked like this:

Ronnie Brown - 1st round

Torry Holt - 2nd round

Terrell Owens - 3rd round

Deshaun Foster - 4th round

Jake Delhomme - 5th round

Warrick Dunn - 6th round

Frank Gore - 7th round - obvious STEAL here

and so on

basically they missed big time on their projections of Delhomme and Foster, and that really cost me

the rest of my draft was ok, I landed Vick who would eventually be my starting QB, Lee Evans, Ben Watson, etc.

But I really thought I would have finished higher using the DD

I'm in no way blaming it for my poor finish, but I thought it would be an interesting thing to do and it was

I used it & really liked they way it can adjust the value of players remaining as other players are being selected. I used to just think, I'm going RB, RB, WR, RB (or whatever order I had predetermined), while WRs & QBs were flying off the board. Then I'd get better than expected RBs, but stuck w/bad QBs & my WR2 is like Antonio Bryant or something. DD also does a good job w/avoiding bye week conflicts.

I have sorta used this for a couple of years now and this year used it much more then I have before. It did a pretty good job. I am the #1 seed in both my money leagues and playing for the title in both this year. I want to learn more about this tool in the off season to figure out more about the weighting features and such.

I started off 8-0 and finished in a 10-4 first place tie.

I'm in the semifinals (week 17 championship)

McNabb and Ronnie Brown injuries hurt down the stretch as did Hasslebeck (keeper). Westbrook, the Dallas RB corps and T Jones filled out my RB roster.

I had great depth at RB and WR which I was able to trade for upgrades.

I found the DD targeted RBs heavily in early rounds and went after value #2 WR's a bit later.

Wayne, Housh, Glenn, & Reg Brown were my WR corps.

I was picking ninth and got Steven Jackson then Westbrook coming back

I say it has worked out nice for me.

I have been using it for 4 years and have made the playoffs 3 of them.

I willbe back on it next year

Third year using it and third year in the Championship game (I won the last two already).

Needless to say, I am a HUGE fan of this program.

So many people are using it now, I find it more handy as a tool to know who my opponents are going to pick each round.

Gives me a leg up when I know 8 guys are gonna follow the DD to a T and I can safely estimate which of my target guys I can get in which round.

eta--also a wonderful tool for tracking the draft. kudos to fbgs

I had my best draft ever I think not a first time user. I like sugesstion above of weighting division games. I liked the projections dominator too and really hope they continue that..

I have used it 2 years now and it has helped me to draft the best offensive team both years. I am a big fan of the program. I was a combined 24-4 in the regular season over those 2 years; I have finished in 1st place at the end of the regular season both years where before, I was lucky to make the playoffs. So yes, I think DD has helped me. However, I am yet to win a single playoff game, mainly due to injuries, but also due to the low amount of importance DD placed on team defenses and IDP’s. The last two years the winner of my league had terrible teams based on what the DD predicted, but had great defenses.

I don't think the DD does a very good job including defensive players or team defenses in a draft. This year the team in my league who took Baltimore D in the 6th round right after he drafted Carnell Williams, TO, Tony Gonzalez, and Jamal Lewis in rounds 2-5, ended up finishing in 2nd place behind me and is set up nicely to win the championship game this week. He has won almost every week based on his team D. It also helped that he was able to pick up Colston and play him at TE all year, but his Baltimore D has scored 112 points more than his next closest offensive player which is TO.

My league used IDP's last year and a different guy who started taking defensive players in the 7th round squeaked into the playoffs and then won the championship. I again lost both my playoff games after going 13-1.

I’ve always thought you should wait to draft your team D and IDP's until later rounds because their isn't enough of a scoring difference between the top D and the 8th or 10th D to make it worth while. But in my league Baltimore scored 38 points more than the 2nd best D, 75 more than the 3rd best, 105 points more than the 4th best and 143 more than the 10th. As a mater of fact, Baltimore scored 32 points more than the best offensive player not named Tomlinson in my league.

I understand the same kind of freakish scoring can be said of LT as this Baltimore D, but the difference is, LT was predicted to do very well and was ranked the top player preseason. Also, running back is considered a position with dramatic drop off in points after the first handful of guys are taken. Knowing LT is a freak, I will throw him out of this next comparison. The 2nd best RB in my league scored 20 points more than the 3rd ranked guy, 22 more than the 4th ranked guy, 59 more than the 5th place guy and 111 points more than the 10th ranked RB. This means the top team D in my league outscored the 10th ranked team D by 32 points more than the top RB (not named LT) in my league scored against the 10th ranked RB.

If the key to a good team is getting the player who will outscore others at the same position by the largest amount each week, then a case can be made using the numbers in my league, that a top Team D is almost as valuable as a top RB. I think RB’s are still more important because you need more of them; you need to start at least two and can start up to 3 meaning the difference between a RB1 and a RB3 can be quite substantial.

The DD didn't even suggest I take a defense until the last round of the draft and I have been switching D's each week since then trying to find one off the scrap heap with a decent match up. It makes it tough when my D gets outscored by 10-20 points each week. If my offensive wasn’t so good, I would have been screwed long ago. I’m not complaining because I have had quite a bit of success in the regular season, but I have gotten the feeling the DD leaves defense as an afterthought and I don’t know how if it is set it up based on my leagues scoring that I input. If that means team D’s score an obscene amount of points, then so be it, it should factor that in. This has really hurt me since regular offensive players can get injured which make it hard to find replacements especially late in the season. However, a Team D is usually pretty solid and is not an injury factor which makes it even more valuable.

Since I have all the scoring set up in DD just like my league, either the input into the DD is way off for IDP’s and team D’s, or the last two years in my league have been major flukes. I find the latter very hard to believe since it happened pretty much every week and not just once in a while every few weeks. It also has happened 2 years in a row. I would like to see more attention paid to this aspect of the DD in the future. Other than that I’m on board and will use it again using the information from my 2 previous years as reference.

It worked just fine. I mainly use it to track my draft (as commish I need to stay on top of it). The projections are my own, and they would work with or without the DD, but the DD makes it so much easier to focus on drafting my team rather than making sure everyone drafts the right number of players at positions, etc...

Ita a great tool. I will finish no worse than 4th this year after winning it all last year.

You still gotta play the WW and manage your team to do well. I almost made it to the championship game after drafting the folliwing in the first 5 rounds:

LT, Fitz, Chambers, Foster, Brady

I haven't used it yet, but it seems to project WRs really high. That concerns me because in my league WRs usually aren't picked until the end of Round 1 or beginning of Round 2. I plan on using FBGs cheetsheets next year, but not DD.

I used it and according to the projections I had, it was right on the money.

After the draft my team was #1 and the guy I'm playing in the Championship was #3. In my second league my team was ranked 4th and I am playing for third place. I like it and it is the one thing I use every year from FBG.

I used DD for the first time this year. I picked 7th and am in the championship game after winning my division. We start individual defensive players. I'd use it again...

Thanks Football Guys! :goodposting:

I finished 2, 2 & 4 in regular season standings. 1, 1 & 2 in points (LT helped for only two of the leagues). Won one league already and am fighting a 4 league crossover championship and am fighting for league champion in another this weekend. I made a lot of roster moves but over half my team has remained the same. I don't follow it blindly but the suggestions it gave me made my teams a success and I had the depth to make the trades I used to get a leg up on the league. A very, very valuable tool.

What weighting factor? Weighting for divisional games is a great idea I had never thought of. How do you do it in DD?

It is under the "game by game" menu. The weeks are defaulted to all be weighted at 1.0, you can adjust to suit your needs. You also need to check the box indicating "use weekly weights". I think that is all you need.

Just curious - who were your first four or five picks?

I also used it as a guide. I drafted 10th in a redraft money league. I finished the season in a three way tie :loco: for first place but didn't make the playoffs because the tie breaker was most points scored during the season. Needless to say the other two owners outscored me but not by much.

Using DD my first 5 picks were:

LJ

Westbrook

S Smith

Deuce

McNabb

I'm up 45 points in the championship game...I say it worked well for me

I've used it now for 3 years, and I think its a great tool. If you don't like the FBG projections, you can edit in your own. It gives you a nice view of the overall draft, what teams have filled which positions, so you can make resonable predictions of likely next targets. I don't take the suggested player every time, but it provides a good guide to work from.

I've been able to make in draft adjustments more easily using DD. I finished my 3 money leagues this year with #1 seed in 2 leagues and 2nd best record (4 seed, behind the 1 seed in my division ). I'll continue to use it as a guide.

Just curious - who were your first four or five picks?
1 - Rudi Johnson2- Brian Westbrook3 - Chris Chambers4 - Santana Moss5 - Deshaun FosterMy receivers were horrible all season, but since we play individual defensive players, I focused on RB and LB (picking Keith Bullock and Lofa Tatupu). My point totals were strong early on giving me a lead in my division, but I didn't win any weeklys. I got whooped twice this year by teams having their best point totals, and until last week had scored less than teams scored against me. Rudi and Westbrook were solid and consistent all season long and I hardly had to worry there. I drafted Favre and Plummer as my Qbs, but have Garcia and Leinart now. I had a lot of luck. But DD was easy and the Lineup Dominator was a good reference all season too.

I would like the site owners to address the legitimacy of this concern as my league may incorporate defense next season. I won our league this season (first time user of DD and the site) and have a tough semi-final matchup today for the right to play in our league's Super Bowl next weekend.
