Cincy has a perceived need at TE, so I included a couple, but Marv has said things that make it doubtful. Not trying to influence your vote or anything. Defense is what he stressed though.

Fwiw, I read there's some maneuvering between teams around here with big interest in Gabe Watson. I know all about Adams, but I have a hunch they're very serious about beefing up those tackles, big time. So I went with Watson here, and he is in my mock current mock as a surprise. The DEs make sense. As does another LB, or DB, or even TE. So have at it. My vote has no say in the outcome, more than likely.

whitner would be a great pick.

but i don't think we'll pass on hali here. he's got that motor that lewis loves.

Whitner

I said Allen before, but with him "failing" the two physicals I'm going with the less risky pick.
Went the other way... with Allen. In any case, I don't see them going TE in the first round. I could see a defensive lineman for sure, but my gut says Allen.

 Flip a coin.

I voted Whitner. Allen may be more likely (esp if they see him as a corner) if they aren't scared off by his hip issues.

I wouldn't be shocked if they took a Marcus McNeill or Jonathan Joseph (or whoever they saw as the best OT or CB) on the board. I'd be mildly surprised if they went TE here, although as the drafting of Chris Perry over SJax and KJones showed, if they like a guy enough, they're not afraid to take him even if the draft is deep at that position.

I like Watson here, in the 3-4 he'd be ideal.Voted hali, with the caveat that they'd only go that way if they keep the 4-3. I've heard conflicting reports there.

i doubt we grab watson now with adams.

plus we've got a big young guy in shaun smith thats developing nicely.

If they take Watson for a 3-4, which position do he and Sam Adams play?
Adams is 33, Watson will keep him fresh.Watson probably isn't the best pick here either way, thinking about it for a bit.

I do like Hali a lot in the 4-3, not so sure about him in the 3-4 though. He wouldn't make a good OLB, and seems small for the 3-4.

So, basically if 4-3, go Hali. If not... well, I'm not sure. I like Whitner as FS, not SS. Can Madieu make the switch to SS, or could the Bengals run their D similar to St. Louis and others, where neither is truly the FS or SS?

"Hey guys. What should we do with our first rounder?"

"How 'bout we draft a guy to keep one of our other guys fresh?"

"Good idea."

:lmao:
They both have a history of stamina/effort problems, but when at full tilt, they both have a history of dominating. This makes them both dominant.

That's my thinking, if you can keep your NT dominant, that helps the entire D. Considering teams take nickel CBs in the 1st, taking a young DT perfect for the scheme you want to run seems a good fit to me. Even if he only plays 30% or less of the plays in his rookie year.
