Drafting software (1 Viewer)

Looking to do something a little different this year with our draft. Instead of the old boring homemade draft board we were looking for some type of software to use that could be downloaded and connected to a television. I know there are some out there but was hoping to get some advise from people who have already used some of the different ones. Thanks for any help.

:sehorn:We actually use fandraft as well but I'm interested to see if there are any better competitors out there. Fandraft is good, but it lacks a little something. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is I don't like, but there's definitely a market for a better product if anyone here has the skills... :lmao:

I don't think this is what you are looking for but I thought I'd throw the idea out there:

My league has drafters from a couple different states and we use instant messenger to conduct the draft rather than running into the inevitable problems with cbssportsline.com not responding to a pick, so we use a google spreadsheet so that everyone with a google account can see a draft board. Its real time so it works well for us.

Japanese businessmen marvel at the novelty of the google spreadsheet.

use EA sports draft tracker its sickly good
If I'm reading the site correctly, I can only use this if:a) My league is hosted by EA Sports, andb) I have an xbox or Playstation hooked up at the draft? If that is the case, this plays to a pretty limited audience, no? I don't meet either of those criteria...

Yes, you would need to set up a free EA Sports league. Draft results/rosters would be uploaded there at the end, but you can always take them from there to your REAL league site. That's what I plan on doing.Yes, you would need an xbox or playstation at the draft.

If your in a league odds are one of the 10 to 14 guys in your league have 360 or playstation with online acct and it costs roughly 6.95 to buy its a steal. as for using it ya just need to set up a dummy league and enter the draft info part. I will be using it for the leagues im in!

The problem for me is that we hold our draft in our office after hours. I've got plenty of PC's and big projectors at my disposal, but no video game consoles. For $15 I can use FanDraft on any computer I want, for a league hosted on any site I want. That's more of a steal to me.

And this EA thing looks like it will work better for our setup. Now I won't have to lug a projector up to Chicago (4 hours away) and a spare computer. I'll just bring my Xbox Live profile and we'll have the board on his 50-some inch tele.

Thanks for the advice. I tried FanDraft a couple years ago and it wasn't what I wanted (couldn't run at high resolutions).

Anyone else using EASport DraftTracker bugged that it has to save after EVERY pick? Takes about 15-20 seconds each time, too. That's my only gripe about it.

50 inch tele should have an input that can sync with the video out from a laptop.

Also why not just use DD ( set it to pure vanilla and ADP) and hide the best value screen and hook it to a TV or projector.

We are looking to run EA Draft Tracker in our league, but we are not going to have a live internet connection at the draft. Do you need to have a live connection, or does all of the information download to the XBox / Playstation so that it can be run completely offline?

I wrote this for our local league.

Basically, its an electronic version of the draft board for auctions except it will automatically figure out how much money you have left etc...

We'll use it because we have a couple of out of state drafters and it should work perfect for us.

We used FanDraft for a few leagues last year and are going to use it for them again this year. It's ok, but not terrific. There are a lot of little features that they just don't quite get right. For instance, it's impossible to just do an overall 1 to whatever ranking of guys on the draft board. So you can only look at just the QBs, just the RBs, etc. It'd be nice if they had a top 50 or top 100 overall board to use, especially for the start of the draft.

They added a voice "feature" to it that is mind blowingly bad. It just uses Microsoft Sam and it's abysmal. The names are completely garbled. I fired it up and drafted Housh for the fun of it and TJ Whosyourdaddy was much closer than what this thing came out with.

Overall, it's better than most of what is out there, but that's not saying a whole lot. Seems like someone could really come out and take over this market completely with a slick product.

We looked into EA's thing, but it won't allow you to load a keeper list and it won't allow you to trade picks either. EA's suggestion is to just have the person that is in that slot draft take the player that the other person would have taken.

The site says it costs $30. Is there a $15 version available? Not a big deal but my league is looking into this either and if there was a simple version which just showed the draft board that's all I'm looking for. My league doesn't need all the frills. :)

How do you run the auction? I'm looking for an alternative to fnatasyauctioneer which seems to have all kinds of technical difficulties.

out of all the features it has, none are a draft board. you can't see the players drafted on each team by round. you can look at one team at a time, or the list of drafted players, but it doesn't show you how the teams are being built all at once.we just ended up with an excel spreadsheet on a 50 inch plasma set up as a second monitor on my laptop. worked fine. had DD running on the laptop screen to keep track of the time; that way I was able to use it as I wanted and the rest of the league just saw the picks go up.

The New Draft Dominator version has a Draft Board.

Just saw that it got added to version 9.0k. A little too late for most drafts, but a nice feature that it's really been needing.
Don't most shark leagues wait later in the preseason to draft? I'm in 4 leagues and my earliest draft is this upcoming Sunday. :) And another vote for the EA Draft Tracker. I have both a PS3 and a 360 and the PS3 version is free and I'm noticing no abnormally long save times. We're going to use it for our local draft next weekend.

$30 for first time users, $15 for returning users. So no, there's no $15 version available unless you purchased it last year.

Lots of people travel to drafts, though, or make a weekend event out of them. You can't schedule 4 drafts after the last preseason game if you're going to Vegas or spending the weekend golfing for each draft. Don't know why it makes a league higher quality to draft later. Seems like you're trying to limit your risk by knowing how the position battles shake out. It's a little more challenging to predict who might "unexpectedly" win a position. By drafting after the preseason games are over, you take nearly all of the uncertainty out of it and eliminate the disadvantage for people who don't follow the offseason.

It's local, so we'll do it live (tomorrow actually!!!!)People will nominate in the order on the site and we'll fill in winners as they go (just like we did last year with a physical draft board)
