Dwayne Jarrett -- Worth holding on to? (1 Viewer)

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Dwayne Jarrett. I think he has the physical skills to become a dependable possession receiver with some red zone skills, but I wouldn't expect him to be much more than "Keyshawn Johnson-lite." If I had him on a team I would hold onto him if I started 3-4 WRs and the scoring system was PPR.

If the expectation is to wait for Jarrett to develop into a stud I wouldn't count on it and if someone offers you players/picks that indicate they value him as a potential stud, I'd take it.

12 teams or less, around 25 man rosters, I wouldn't be be holding onto to him anyways or at least I hope I wouldn't have to.

I agree with Matt above but was encouraged as he played a little more than Hackett in the games I saw late in the season. For me, Jarrett's issues start with his inability to commit to his craft.

I'm holding onto him for another year in my Dynasty PPR league. But if I don't see him move up the depth chart this coming season through the retirement of Muhsin Muhammed or outright beat him for playing time, I'll probably cut him as I wouldn't expect there to be much there in trade value.

I am still trying to get a pulse on his fantasy upside. What does everyone think? Can he put up Muhammad numbers if/when MM departs or is injured? Can he produce even higher numbers? How high?

I would hold or pick up if you roster more than 30-35 players 12 team league.Hoping for WR 3 numbers nothing more and probably not this year. This guy has enough talent for a role. But according to Steve Smith he has terrible work ethic which seems to indicate he might rather party than work on becoming better.

Depends on how deep your league is, but chances are he's not worth holding onto imo.

I think Jarrett's a hold. If you're looking for a low (or no) cost flyer at WR, I see few better options. He's a young, fairly high draft choice entering his third year. He's playing behind an aging starter (Muhammad) and seems to have few serious threats for the #3 role to open the season. His '08 competition for touches (DJ Hackett) was cut, the Panthers didn't address WR in the draft, and the team has no real receiving threat at TE.

Yes, he's had maturity issues as evidenced by Steve Smith's quote about not knowing the playbook. But that was two years ago. I'm not saying he's got huge upside, but given his present circumstances, Jarrett certainly seems worth rostering if you've got the space.
