Dwayne Jarrett (1 Viewer)

Islander

I am mildly surprised that after 3 weeks he still has not suited up for a game unlike the other top WRs of the 2007 class. I understand he got behind with the preseason injury, but it's not like he has world beaters to get in front of at the WR position. Any update on his progress in practice? What's your best guess as to when he'll see the field?

PFW reports... not until the coaching staff trusts his knowledge of the offense... it isn't there yet...
 I live in Charlotte, and the reports say Jarrett is struggling picking up the playbook. It's a damn shame, b/c I think he would do a nice job opposite Steve Smith. People in Charlotte have grown very frustrated with him, because he was the reason they let Keyshaun go.

So why isn't Drew Carter starting opposite Smith? He's outperforming Colbert and reports suggest the team is "considering" the change.

Bump for update. So Jarrett was activated in week #4 and caught one pass. In week #5 he was active but did not play. Week #6 he was inactive.

If Jarrett does not do anything in week #8 especially since he had the bye week to practice, prepare, and learn the playbook, then  . It's not like the Panthers are loaded at WR - Drew Carter and Colbert have not done anything this year. Jarrett must be really bad in practice, or really stupid and unable to learn the playbook.

Maybe the early Mike Williams comparisons hold merit.

I have heard this too, but I find it almost increasingly bizarre that they cannot put together a few packages where he gets in the game. He cannot be any worse then Colbert or Carter. I personally think there is way more to the story. Man the Panthers have missed the boat bigtime on their 2nd round picks lately.

I wouldn't expect much. Have no heard much about this guy since they moved from practice in shorts to pads this year. LOTS of guys look good in shorts and then regress miserably when the pads go on.

This would actually make sense if Jarrett was a workout warrior, but he's the exact opposite. Not great workout numbers, but phenomenal production in games throughout his career.

Panther Homer here, and I have to be honest with you. I really did not like this pick. It's amazing it's taking him this long to get on the field. They struck gold with Beaston, but Jarret has been an absolute BUST. :boxing:

Finally made it on the field in week #10. Two receptions for 28 yards with 4 targets. About time. I hope he learned a lesson and that we will see an improvement in stats in the last 7 games of the season.

It is nice to see that Jarrett is active, but it has little to do with handicapping his long term value.

Let's see how he compares to other top ranked WR's (not named Johnson or Bowe):

Ted Ginn (#9): 8 REC, 153 Yards and 1 TD

Robert Meachem (#27): has not be active

Craig Davis (#30): 9 REC, 84 yards and 1 TD

Anthony Gonzalez (#32): 15 REC, 207 yards

Sidney Rice (#44): 18 REC, 212 and 2 TD's

Dwayne Jarrett (#45) 3 REC, 34 yards

Steve Smith (#51) 4 REC, 26 Yards

No one in this group is lighting it up. We'll see, but I think Jarrett could develop into a solid #2 NFL WR. Fantasy owners are going to have to wait at least another year-

there was a story a week or so ago that jarrett was being interviewed about his lack of playing time... steve smith interrupted him & told him that instead of talking about he should go study some film... jarrett smiled & continued on... smith interrupted him again, more loudly this time, & said SERIOUSLY!

not exactly a ringing endorsement of his work ethic, maturity & professionalism...

I would not be so quick to make any judgement on Jarrett's work ethic just yet. He practiced hard at SC. Staying healthy has always been Jarrett's issue. This was one incident and who knows if Steve Smith was "serious" or not in his comment. This is coming from a guy that sucker punched a teammate in the film room ("Smith punched Bright in the face, breaking his nose. The Panthers suspended Smith for the offense.").
