I know this topic has been beat to death but after 3 weeks of preseason in the books, who is the Shark Pool #1 rookie for dynasty keeper leagues?

Can't speak for the whole pool but I'd go with McFadden despite his low BMI.Others really like Stewart and his high BMI.Some are high on Mendenhall.Chris Johnson is getting a lot of hype recently as well.Hope that helps.

ADP......by a mile! for overall Dynasty #1.

Rookie - DMAC.

I think the 1.01 rookie is a two horse race between Stewart and Mendenhall. I had favored Stewart prior to the draft, then I switched over to Mendenhall when he went to the Steelers. After seeing some of Stewart's runs last night, I think he's making a big case for the top slot again. It was a small sample size, but he looked VERY impressive. He looked quick and he ran with a suddenness that was sometimes lacking in college. I'm excited about his upside.

Bottom line is I still think those two guys offer the best odds of developing into 300+ carry workhorses and top 10 FF backs. After that I think you have to take McFadden because of his pedigree, but it's no secret that I think he's overvalued. Next in line are Ray Rice and Felix Jones. Chris Johnson is in the mix here as well.

If you're talking veterans then I don't think there's an easy answer at 1.01. So much of it depends on your team composition and your league requirements. Peterson will be the top pick in most leagues, but I don't think he's necessarily a slam dunk. I had the 1.01 in a draft earlier this offseason and I traded down to get an extra high pick.

1. Mcfadden - Simply an elite talent.

2. Stewart - He sure looked explosive last night.

3. CJohnson - Speaking of explosive, this guy looks like the real deal.

4. Ray Rice - Very good all around back who will be starting sooner than most think.

5. Kevin Smith - Looking pretty good, likely sees the most touches of any rookie RB this year.

6. Mendenhall - Looks like he is not even trying. Too slow, reminds me of, gulp...Cedric Benson.

7. Matt Forte - Good, not great player in a bad situation.

8. Steve Slaton - Looking better and better, should win starting job in Houston.

9. Felix Jones - Not so much his talent that bothers me, but Marion Barber is clearly the man, and will be for a long time.

10. Tim Hightower - He looks like i thought Mendenhall was going to.

Good stuff guys!!

I have been torn between McFadden & Stewart for months now and the preseason has done nothing to help me make a decision. Stewart looked fantastic (albeit only in one game) & McFadden looks like he will be given every opportunity to shine by Al Davis & Co. I was hoping something would have happened by now to make it a clear cut choice.

If you're torn between those two, take Stewart. You'll regret it if you pin your team's hopes to McFadden.

2 QB league I go with since there are some out there playing such a league.

1. Ryan

2. Flacco

3. Johnson

4. rest of the way you guys like it. Stewart is going to play 2nd fiddle to DeAngelo like he did to Foster IMO. McFadden having some issues also and some other RB's in front. Forte is a guy I like but still in Chicago. Detroit cant run. Mendenhall and the Benson comparison early does seem to fit.

I think Henne is also looking good for 2 QB leagues and would probably go 5th or 6th. I think Desean jackson will have some koolaid and he is electrifying but I see some issues with health and his height in the end. Wont end up being that useable for fantasy reasons. Keller is another guy to consider if any special TE ponts like some leagues have in the 5th to 8th range. Mayo/Rivers/Long for IDP could be considered for round 1 also. All 3 have played well.

Why aren't clear starting guys like Matt Forte and Kevin Smith getting any mention at all as potential first selections? Neither of those guys have a case as the #1 rookie player in a deep keeper league?

Why is Mendenhall in the discussion? He's not even contending with FWP for the starting job.

Stewart has the big runs, but DeAngelo Williams has to be accounted for. And McFadden and Chris Johnson are fighting for carries with other backs (though its hard to imagine DMC won't be the top Raiders ballcarrier sooner than later).

Mendenhall is in the discussion because he is a 1st round RB, and we are talking dynasty leagues. He may not start right away, but he has a shot to start sometime in the future. I dont think Mcfadden has much competition for touches.Stewart will lose plenty of touches to Williams, but should put up good numbers with 200+ touches and the goalline carries.Chris Johnson is the best offensive weapon on the Titans, and will be given the ball early and often.I like Kevin Smith, but he is not an elite talent. Although i suspect he puts up good numbers with plenty of touches, and the passing game keeping out 8 men in the box.Forte is an average talent in a horrible situation. Will get a fair share of carries, but not many TD's and his YPC will probably be below 4.

We have a 12 team, up to 20-keeper PPR dynasty league in our 10th season together. You will see a run on RBs in the first round. Although we are a PPR, there are a lot of good WR in our FA pool, and almost every RB1 and RB2 per team is locked as a keeper. Here our rookie draft results with some editorial comments:

1) Rashard Mendenhall: Picked because of TD-hog likelihood and Coach felt Oakland backfield will be unsettled "for years"

2) Darren McFadden: Coach nearly fell off the sofa when DMC fell to him at 2

3) Matt Forte: Also picked Mendenhall. Loved Forte's performance at Senior Bowl.

4) Jonathan Stewart: My pick, I jumped at "Daily Show" falling to 4.

5) Ray Rice: Consistent with rookie rankings

6) Kevin Smith: I liked this pick very much. I think Kevin Smith will have a Curtis Martin like career.

7) Steve Slaton: A bit early IMO. Coming off a good preseason performance the night before and Coach jumped.

8) Chris Johnson: My pick, "Flash" falling to me at 8 in a PPR dynasty league was fantastic.

9) Matt Ryan: This team only had Brodie Croyle as QB keeper and needed this pick. Still good value at 9.

10) Felix Jones: Felix was the one who fell the farthest from pre-season mocks. MB3 has been strong this preseason.

11) Tim Hightower: Perhaps the highest risk/reward pick. I think reward. "Police Academy" will either be MB3 or CedBen.

12) Devin Thomas: This is where we started to see need picks.

13) Dustin Keller: " "

14) Limas Sweed: " "

15) Mike Hart: Michigan alum, likes Hart in Indy. Was also a need pick.

16) Chad Henne: Michigan alum, was also a need pick

17) DeSean Jackson: Need pick

18) Jacob Hester: This could be a huge reward pick. Hester can play, and if LT were to go down, Hester would get more touches than Sproles IMO. Pissed off LT Coach

19) Jamaal Charles: Handcuff to Larry Johnson

20) Joe Flacco: Probably a reach here with a lot of players falling to this spot

21) John Carlson: Need pick

22) Jordy Nelson: " "

23) Eddie Royal: " "

24) Ryan Torain: Last of our keepers. If Torain was not out for half/full season, Torain would have definitely gone in the first round.

Players not drafted in the rookie keeper rounds (but were drafted in late player-keeper rounds):

1) James Hardy: I tried 3-4 times to trade into our second round of rookie picks to get Hardy. Can't believe he fell. #1 WR IMO

2) Tashard Choice: Disappointed in preseason and behind MB3 and Felix.

3) Malcolm Kelly: A great steal in the player keeper rounds

4) Jalen Parmele

5) Brian Brohm: Had he not been so disappointing this preseason he would have gone late 1st/early 2nd rookie keeper.

6) Colt Brennan: Worth the gamble late.
