Any thoughts on these two RBs? Peterson has been receiving tons of hype since his freshman year, but I don't think he's necessarily head-and-shoulders above Lynch. I'm in the paradoxically enviable and embarrassing position of holding 1.01 in one of my leagues, so I'll be watching these two closely. Just looking at their highlights, I don't think there's a huge gap between the two.
Peterson looks to have great instincts, good power, and quick feet, but he's taller than ideal for a RB, he runs high, and he has injury issues. I have no doubt that he'll be effective in the NFL, but he might not have what it takes to hold up to the beating.
Physically, Lynch better seems to fit the mold of today's top NFL backs. He's built lower to the ground and he runs lower. He's pretty quick and he runs hard. It's tough to think of players to compare him to, but he kind of reminds me of Thomas Jones.
It's early, but I think you can start to cement Lynch, Peterson, C. Johnson, Jarrett, and Ginn as the clear top five offensive prospects from this draft for FF purposes. All five could conceivably end up being the best player from the draft. Johnson and Peterson look like the surest bets to make an impact, but Ginn's speed jumps off the screen. He could be special.
