[Dynasty] 2016 Draft Class (2 Viewers)

Rotoworld:

South Carolina junior WR Pharoh Cooper "reminds of Detroit Lions' all-purpose standout Golden Tate, using a combination of agility, ball-skills and toughness to make plays as a runner, receiver and returner," notes CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

"Cooper has terrific vision, balance and burst to make defenders miss, though he does not possess the elite breakaway speed that his five career scores of 70+ yards would indicate," Rang wrote. The 5-foot-11, 201-pound Cooper really came on last season, grabbing 69 receptions for 1,136 yards and nine touchdowns (1,411 yards total with 11 touchdowns). He earned First Team all-SEC honors at WR and second-team notice as an all-purpose back.

Rotoworld:

FSU is the "frontrunner" to land graduate transfer QB Everett Golson, according to Ryan Bartow of 247 Sports.

Bartow goes as far to say "Florida State is seen as the eventual destination for Golson," citing sources close to the decision. Bartow points out SEC schools are running into possible issues, noting the bylaw that brings up a waiver Golson must receive due to his academic history and Bruce Feldman highlighted the SEC's "two year eligibility" rule. Texas is seemingly out of the picture since they open the season against Notre Dame. We know Golson's turnover totals were high, but his skills are much better than those figures show. Sean Maguire started in place of Jameis Winston last year against Clemson.

Rotoworld:

Utah senior RB Devontae Booker is expected to receive 30-35 touches per game, according to his HC Kyle Whittingham.

"The offense is going to run through him again this year," Whittingham said. "...He has become a much-improved pass protector. He added some weight." Booker averaged around 25 touches per game last year, so an increase of five or 10 is quite a jump up. Many college teams rely on one ball carrier, but Booker will also be a pivotal piece in the passing game.

I think an interesting discussion will be between the top 2 RBs:

Ezekiel Elliot or Derrick Henry

I think both look like legit, top shelf RBs, I'm just not sure which I prefer just yet.

Booker is 3 years older than Ezekiel Elliott and 2 years older than Todd Gurley. Pass. Don't get the hype.

Daniel Lasco is just as good or better. Lasco put up a 41" Vertical and 10'10" Broad Jump in March.

Devontae Booker - RB - Utes

Utah senior RB Devontae Booker "is the type of back in the type of offense that could produce 2,000-plus yards," wrote ESPN's Kevin Gemmell.

Gemmell points out that Utah only faces one 2014 top-20 rush defense in 2015 (Michigan, 15th), while the Utes avoid Stanford. Fresno State and Colorado were awful against the run last year and Washington and USC both suffered mass defensive defections. Gemmell believes Booker is the Pac-12's best Heisman candidate heading into the year. "This isn't a full-blown endorsement for Booker's candidacy," he wrote. "But if he can surge all year the way he did once his carries picked up in the fourth game (he averaged 133 YPG over the final 10) he'll be knocking on the door of a 2,000-yard season, which will raise a lot of eyebrows nationally."

Cody Kessler - QB - Trojans

ESPN's Kyle Bonagura writes that USC redshirt senior QB Cody Kessler is the Pac-12's best Heisman candidate.

Bovada pegs Kessler at 12-to-1 odds to win the trophy, while Utah RB Devontae Booker, the conference's other obvious candidate, isn't even on the board at present moment. "Losing Nelson Agholor will hurt, but with arguably the nation's best offensive line in front of him and more-than-enough capable playmakers to get the ball to, he'll have the stats again to be in the mix," Bonagura wrote. "What it will come down to -- for any player, really -- is winning, which again tips the scales in Kessler's favor." Amongst Pac-12 candidates, Bovada also lists UCLA's Paul Perkins (20/1), Oregon's Royce Freeman (28/1), Arizona State's D.J. Foster (40/1), Arizona's Nick Wilson (40/1), Cal's Jared Goff (50/1) and Scooby Wright (66/1).

D'haquille Williams - WR - Tigers

ESPN's Mel Kiper has Auburn senior WR Duke Williams as his No. 17 overall prospect on his 2016 big board.

The 6-foot-2, 224-pound Williams led the Tigers with 45 catches for 730 yards and five touchdowns last season in just 10 games. The Auburn prospect has a chance to put up big numbers this season as Auburn's go-to-guy. Our own Josh Norris believes Williams will have to have a dominant season in order to go in round 1.

Laquon Treadwell - WR - Rebels

Ole Miss junior WR Laquon Treadwell checked in at No. 7 on Mel Kiper's first big board.

"At 6-2 and nearly 230 pounds, Treadwell, has size, speed and tremendous hands," Kiper wrote. "He was unquestionably the best WR on the team as a true freshman, even with Donte Moncrief still around. And while his season was cut short in 2014 due to an ugly injury, Treadwell should be 100 percent in the fall. If he stays that way, he's got the potential to be a first-rounder next spring." Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze recently said Treadwell will be healthy by the time the season starts. Treadwell went No. 13 to the 49ers in Todd McShay's 2016 mock draft. CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes Treadwell "has a Dez Bryant skill-set with his size and athleticism combination to be a mismatch against cornerbacks on the outside."

Rotoworld:

Rotoworld's Josh Norris slotted Alabama junior RB Derrick Henry to the New York Giants at No. 22 in a 2016 mock draft.

"Let's continue with more running backs in the first round," Norris wrote. "Zach Whitman has already hinted at Henry’s future SPARQ score. He has long speed along with great power to be first contact. He might give Giants’ fans a good Brandon Jacobs vibe." ESPN's Todd McShay shipped Henry to the Miami Dolphins at No. 29. "He has great size (6-3, 242 pounds) and exceptional power, and he was very effective for the Crimson Tide last season: 990 yards, 5.8 yards per carry and 11 touchdowns to go with two receiving TDs," he wrote. "He isn't the most elusive back, but he's a tough runner with good balance." The 6-foot-3, 238-pounder runs a 4.50 forty.

Mel is so inconsistent! He drops Gurley because of an injury but Treadwell is #7 overall and he had an "ugly" injury!?!?!

This is one reason why I don't listen to him.

Gurley entered the draft without anyone seeing how he'd perform after his injury, and with his injury potentially (likely?) affecting his status entering his rookie year. Treadwell will have a whole year to show that he's over the injury so he'll have plenty of chances to move him down if he doesn't look the same.

Rotoworld:

Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reports that Ole Miss junior WR Laquon Treadwell, who played at 230 pounds last year, is now down to 212 pounds.

Back in November, the Ole Miss prospect broke his fibula and a dislocated and ankle against Auburn, as he was crossing the goal line. Feldman notes how "amazing" Treadwell has looked running, only 6 months from his injury. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Treadwell has the ideal size and athleticism for the next level, and should be fully healthy, and ready to go for the start of the season.

To be clearer I'm not talking about the draft specifically but about his ranking of the two. Gurley hasn't played since his injury so he got bumped down, Treadwell hasn't played since his injury and he's currently ranked higher than anyone at his position. He's inconsistent............

Rotoworld:

Jared Goff - QB - Golden Bears

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Cal junior QB Jared Goff No. 9 on his 2016 Big Board.

"The big sell here is a big-time arm," he wrote. "Goff can drill the ball down the field and into tight windows with ease, and he has strong movement skills and anticipation for a player with good length who seems to see the whole field. Goff's totals are going to be significant, so the question of whether the skills translate quickly will be the key question." The 6-foot-4, 210-pound star threw for 3,973 yards last year on a 62-percent completion percentage with a 35/7 TD/INT ratio. In that offense, he should comfortably exceed 4,000 yards in 2015. Rotoworld's Josh Norris slotted Goff No. 15 in a recent mock draft and compared him to Jimmy Garoppolo.

Christian Hackenberg - QB - Nittany Lions

Penn State junior QB Christian Hackenberg checks in at No. 11 on Mel Kiper's inaugural 2016 Big Board.

"After a freshman season that showed tons of promise and also matched the considerable hype, Hackenberg struggled mightily as a true sophomore behind a bad offensive line -- and through what could not have been an easy coaching transition, as outgoing coach Bill O'Brien has a superb reputation among quarterbacks," Kiper wrote. "There is no question 2015 will be a scrutinized season for a kid with obvious NFL tools." This is an aggressive ranking -- though not quite as aggressive as Todd McShay slotting Hackenberg No. 1 in a 2016 mock draft -- and Kiper explains his rational well. We soured on Hackenberg a bit last year after watching him consistently get flummoxed by pressure, but he's a big-time prospect with an ideal frame. We'll be watching him as closely as anyone in 2016. If he struggles mightily again, there will be no excuses left.

Connor Cook - QB - Spartans

CBS Sports ranks Michigan State senior QB Connor Cook as the No. 1 QB prospect in the nation.

USC's Cody Kessler finished second, meaning CBS is as high on the Trojans signal-caller as we are. "Scouts are intrigued by Cook's confidence, poise and strong arm," Rob Rang wrote. Colleague Dane Brugler had Cook going No. 8 to the Rams in the 2015 draft before Cook pulled out of the process. If he has a huge season, Cook very well could be the favorite to go No. 1 overall.

Connor Cook - QB - Spartans

Scout.com ranks Michigan State senior QB Connor Cook as the No. 11 overall prospect.

"Cook is your classic NFL prospect at this position with good size and a good arm," wrote Jamie Newberg. "He has been highly productive and efficient the past two seasons at Michigan State, throwing 45 touchdown passes and close to 5,800 passing yards. When he's tight with his mechanics and steps into his throws Cook's as accurate as they come." ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Cook as the No. 15 player in the class, CBS Sports grades him as the No. 1 QB prospect in the nation and Cook slotted No. 2 to the Browns in Todd McShay's 2016 mock draft.

O.J. Howard - TE - Crimson Tide

Alabama junior tight end O.J. Howard "will be depended on to be a bigger factor in Alabamas offense following the departure of the Tides top three wide receivers as well as tight end Brian Vogler," noted AL.com.

"[Howard] possesses a rare combination of size and athleticism," wrote Matt Zenitz. The publication was told by a source that Howard ran a 4.59 second forty, bench pressed 405 pounds and squatted 500 pounds during the spring. The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder, who lines up everywhere, including tight end, wide receiver and H-back, was graded by Walter Football as a first-to-second round prospect.

Christian Hackenberg - QB - Nittany Lions

Big Ten Network's Sean Merriman ranks Penn State junior QB Christian Hackenberg as the conference's No. 2 pro prospect.

Behind Joey Bosa of Ohio State, of course, which also means the analyst ranks Hackenberg above such stud signal-callers as Connor Cook and Cardale Jones. "He has the size, arm strength and skill-set of an All-Pro NFL quarterback," wrote Merriman. "The key will be if he can stay on his feet and remain healthy in 2015." The 6-foot-4, 236-pounder had a 12/15 TD/INT rate last season and must prove to the NFL that he can handle pass rusher pressure.

Quinshad Davis - WR - Tar Heels

UNC senior WR Quinshad Davis is "a potentially deadly red zone threat at the NFL level," wrote ESPN's David Hale.

He already fits that description at the collegiate level. The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder has 21 touchdowns in three seasons at UNC. "Last season was a minor step back for him, though, so he’ll need to be more consistent in 2015 if he wants to maximize his NFL opportunities," wrote Hale. He finished third on the Tar Heels with 41 receptions for 470 yards in 2014. Davis enters his senior campaign fifth in school history with 157 receptions.

Nate Sudfeld - QB - Hoosiers

Scout.com's Jamie Newberg calls Indiana senior QB Nate Sudfeld an "outstanding QB prospect" and as "technically as sound as they come."

Newberg ranks Sudfeld as the No. 26 overall draft prospect, several slots ahead of far more hyped Big Ten QB Cardale Jones. "[sudfeld] has a beautiful and quick release and nice mechanics," Newberg wrote. "In this area of the position he's further along than most. He can make all the passes, throw with velocity of change speeds. Sudfield has also shown the ability to throw with anticipation and to spots." In 14 career starts, the Hoosier prospect has thrown for 4,306 yards and 34 touchdowns on a 60-percent completion rate. Sudfeld missed most of last season while recovering from shoulder surgery.

Rotoworld:

Christian Hackenberg - QB - Nittany Lions

Penn State junior QB Christian Hackenberg "can make all the throws" and "plays with a sense of calmness and poise," wrote Scout.com's Jamie Newberg.

The analyst ranks him as the No. 15 prospect in the nation. "He's a pocket passer all the way but has shown the ability to throw on the run," Newberg wrote. "Hackenberg had a bumpy 2014 season, caused in part by a poor Nittany Lion offensive front. He needs to clean things up and work on ball security. There's no doubt a big '15 campaign will make him very coveted by the NFL." The 6-foot-4, 236-pounder threw for 2,995 yards and 20 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2013, but regressed to a 12/15 TD/INT rate last season.

Rotoworld:

Laquon Treadwell - WR - Rebels

Ole Miss junior WR Laquon Treadwell (ankle) "could move into the top ten if he's truly healthy and has productive season this fall," wrote Scout.com's Jamie Newberg.

The analyst ranks him as the No. 24 prospect in the nation with that caveat. Treadwell, of course, dislocated his ankle and broke his fibula against Auburn late last season. "When healthy and roaring, Treadwell is one of the most dangerous players in the game," Newberg wrote. "He has good size, athleticism, speed and quickness. He's strong and runs good routes, creating separation out of his breaks." The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Treadwell has collected 120 catches for over 1,240 yards and 10 touchdowns across 22 career games.

James Conner - RB - Panthers

Fox Sports' Lauren Brownlow notes that Pittsburgh junior RB James Conner will "likely leave school as long as his stock is high enough after next year" because of the "pounding his body has already taken."

"This past draft showed that teams aren't afraid to take running backs high, but you never know how trends will change," she wrote. "Conner is strong, powerful and fast, an ideal combination for any back." The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Conner won ACC Player of the Year honors last year over reigning Heisman winner Jameis Winston. He rushed for 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns on the year.

Tyler Boyd - WR - Panthers

Pittsburgh junior WR Tyler Boyd "can make the spectacular look easy," wrote Scout.com's Jamie Newberg.

"He has a wide catch radius, terrific body control and hand-eye coordination," Newberg wrote. The analyst ranks Boyd as the No. 16 draft prospect in the nation. Boyd has been dominating since he stepped foot on campus. As a true freshman in 2013, he put up 85 catches for 1,174 yards and seven touchdowns. Last year, he hauled in 78 receptions for 1,261 yards and eight scores.

Henry posted multiple Instagram videos, but they have since been taken down. Last year, Henry flipped monster truck tires. He has graduated to full blown trucks. There might not be a bigger freak, a term of endearment, at the college level. Henry currently stands around 6'3" and 240 lbs.

Notre Dame junior WR William Fuller received 26.6 of the school's targets in 2014.

Fuller was clearly Notre Dame's go to target, as two receivers tied (Corey Robinson and Chris Brown) with the next largest target percentage of 15.2. Of the 115 targets Fuller received, he caught 76 for a rate of 66.1%. The Irish do have a new offensive coordinator in Mike Sanford.

Devontae Booker - RB - Utes

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler notes that Utah senior RB Devontae Booker is a "very good player," but "needs to hold onto the football."

The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Booker was quite the workhorse back for the Utes last season, rushing for 1,512 yards and 10 touchdowns, with 43 receptions for 306 yards and two touchdowns. With as many touches as Booker will receive in 2015, he'll have to make sure he improves on protecting the ball, as Brugler notes that the Utah prospect "fumbled once every 55.8 offensive touches last year."

Marquez North - WR - Volunteers

Tennessee junior WR Marquez North "has all the physical tools to warrant a spot this high [No. 34] in the coming draft if he can stay on the field," wrote Scout.com's Jamie Newberg.

North is Scout's No. 34 overall draft prospect and its No. 5 receiver. "He has size, good speed and soft hands," Newberg wrote. "North is exactly the big target at this position that the NFL covets. North should be ready for a breakout 2015 season." He missed the last three games last year with a shoulder injury and must prove that he can stay healthy in 2015.

Leonte Carroo - WR - Scarlet Knights

Rutgers senior WR Leonte Carroo "is the top returning wide receiver in the Big Ten," according to Big Ten Network's Sean Merriman.

Carroo very nearly opted into the 2015 NFL Draft, but ultimately decided to return for one more year on campus. Carroo, 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, has been clocked in the high 4.3s in the 40-yard dash. He posted 55 passes for 1,086 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors, while forced to catch the wobbling ducks Gary Nova served up, again. Nova, who graduated, hasn't received a sniff from the NFL. "If the Scarlet Knights can find an answer at quarterback, this guy could put up monster numbers," Merriman wrote.

O.J. Howard - TE - Crimson Tide

Alabama junior tight end O.J. Howard is "blessed with outstanding size, speed and athleticism," noted Scout.com's Jamie Newberg.

The analyst ranks him as the No. 17 prospect in the land. Howard hasn't yet been given the credit he deserves for doing the dirty work, but he's been a key contributor in the Crimson Tide run game, posting more than 110 knockdown blocks over the past two years. "But where he will make a living is as a huge receiving threat," Newberg wrote. "He's tall and long and uses that to his advantage. Howard can catch the football and become a yacker. In today's NFL he could be an outstanding weapon." The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder ran a 4.59 second forty this spring.

Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson is transferring to FSU, according to Bruce Feldman.

It was the expected decision. The entire conversation around Golson since last season has revolved around his number of turnovers in 2014, including 14 interceptions and 8 of 12 fumbles lost. The fact is Golson played very well to open the season, but poor decisions and turnovers, combine with bad luck, produced an underwhelming finish to the year. Yes, we could be called Golson apologists, but talent is there. He is now the most veteran quarterback on FSU's roster and has plenty of experience inside the pocket as well as creating outside of structure. Despite being behind in the playbook, we believe Golson wins FSU's quarterback competition. Keep in mind, FSU is replacing four starters along the offensive line.

Scout.com ranks South Carolina junior WR Pharoh Cooper as the No. 30 prospect in the class.

Cooper checks in as Scout's No. 4 receiver. "He's built like a running back and is tough to bring down with the ball in his hands because he has speed and quickness," wrote Jamie Newberg. "Cooper is just a playmaker." The 5-foot-11, 201-pound Cooper posted 69 receptions for 1,136 yards and nine touchdowns (1,411 yards total with 11 touchdowns) last season, earning First Team all-SEC honors at WR and second-team honors as an all-purpose back. "He's also an excellent return man," Newberg reminded. Over the past two seasons, Cooper has produced five plays of 70-yards or more.
