[Dynasty] 2016 Draft Class (1 Viewer)

NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt called Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott "impressive."
"I think some team takes him in middle round to develop into Cam-like QB," Brandt wrote. Prescott's pre-draft prep has rolled along smoothly enough. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Senior Bowl in January, leading CBS Sports' Dane Brugler to write that he has "a chance to develop into a consistent backup in the NFL." Meanwhile, NFL Media's Charles Davis noted that he saw "outstanding improvement" from Prescott on the field during the 2015 campaign. At the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.80 seconds.

Mayock's quarterback takeaways

NFL Media's Mike Mayock details his takeaways from the quarterback class at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine. See what he has to say about Carson Wentz, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch. Watch

Former NFL scout John Middlekauff called Oklahoma WR Sterling Shepard his "favorite [wide receiver] in the draft."

"Love me some Sterling Shepard," Middlekauff wrote. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound wideout just finished up with his 40-yard dashes for the afternoon and logged unofficial times of 4.50 and 4.49 seconds. Those are nice numbers. Add on his ability to run routes--NFL.com's Matt Harmon's called him "bar none" the best at that particular aspect of the game in this draft class--and you have a player who's a borderline first-round selection. He's previously drawn a comparison to Randall Cobb from NFL Media's Mike Mayock.

NFL Media's Bucky Brooks spoke with one newly hired NFL HC who said he will put his "star" on Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo's draft card.
Some teams allow personnel members and coaches to put their star on one player in each draft class, which points to their "favorite" prospect or one they want the team to draft most. Many times it is not one of the top prospects, but one the evaluator or coach fell in love with. For this coach, Carroo is that prospect.

I think they said it was the second slowest WR class ever. In 2011 (slowest ever) the average time was 4.57 this year was 4.56.

NFL Media's Mike Mayock sees Louisiana Tech QB Jeff Driskel as a mid-round selection in this spring's draft.
That might actually end up being a conservative guess on Driskel's NFL future, as in mid-February, TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline noted that "a number of franchises" have given the 6-foot-4, 237-pounder a second-round grade. It's possible he could leapfrog quarterbacking prospects like Connor Cook, Christian Hackenberg and Jacoby Brissett. Given that Driskel's career appeared to be in shambles after his final season at Florida in 2014, his ascension is nothing short of impressive. He totaled just 23 touchdown passes during his four years with the Gators, then came on as a grad transfer at Louisiana Tech to throw for 4,026 yards with a 27/8 TD/INT ratio last season.

Getting back to this thread how would u compare this draft class 2016 to that of 2017.  I have 1.01, 1.04, 1.16 and was thinking of trading the 04 & 16 for a ready now player or 2017 picks. Thoughts?

Stanford WR/TE Devon Cajuste has a similar NFL profile to Lance Kendricks, projects Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.
Does Cajuste have the athletic chops to transcend his tweener label? The analyst says that the possibility -- not even the reality, but the possibility -- that Cajuste can play a move H-back role or TE increases his worth over just being a receiver. Cajuste logged a disappointing 27-383-3 line last season, though some of that can be blamed on the Cardinal's run-heavy offensive system.

An NFC North scout says Michigan State WR Aaron Burbridge's athletic limitations will relegate him to slot duties in the NFL.
The scout said he loved Burbridge's desire and profile but didn't like his athleticism, adding a belief that the prospect is slot-bound in the NFL. Burbridge had an outstanding 2015, posting a 85-1258-7 receiving line. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein doesn't think he has enough quickness to deal with press coverage, agreeing that Burbridge's best bet might be becoming a big slot in the Jason Avant mold.

Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo is a "consistently productive receiver with good size but pedestrian long speed," writes NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein.
"While Carroo benefited from Rutgers' offensive system, he was still producing at a high level despite the attention that was paid to him," Zierlein wrote. "Carroo will need to continue to sharpen his route running in order to improve his separation on the next level, but his size, hands and ability to block in the running game could land him in the middle rounds with a chance to become an eventual starter." The 6-foot, 211-pounder recently logged a 4.50 forty at the Combine with a 35.5-inch vertical jump. He missed over a third of last season because of injuries and a suspension (there are character concerns here) but recorded 39 catches, 809 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015.

Who is blue blazes is Marshaun Coprich? havent heard his name before

2016 NFL Combine: Elliott and Henry far from the only Day 3 standouts

Excerpt:

At just 5-foot-8, Coprich is short, but he's stout at 207 pounds and certainly has proven workhorse ability, rushing for 5,201 yards (on 927 attempts) and 59 touchdowns over his career. Of course, that came against lower-level competition and he comes with character red flags, which NFL teams will need to investigate. For Coprich to capture the attention of pro scouts, he needed to make a positive impression in Indianapolis, and this Redbird accomplished that in precisely 4.47 seconds.

Coprich among lightly recruited players turning heads at combine

The Houston Texans interviewed Jared Goff, Christian Hackenberg, Paxton Lynch, Carson Wentz and Connor Cook at the Scouting Combine.
Barrring a significant trade or free agent acquisition, Houston is going to take a quarterback, probably within the draft's first two days. Texans owner Bob McNair says he wants to draft one and HC Bill O’Brien says the boss gets what the boss wants. These names aren't surprising. Hackenberg's inclusion generated whispers because of his ties to O'Brien when both were at Penn State three years ago.
