[Dynasty] 2016 Draft Class (1 Viewer)

Rookie Scouting Portfolio's Matt Waldman would recommend James Madison QB Vad Lee as "a late-round player above several options."
The analyst says that Inside The Pylon's Mark Schofield agrees with the assessment. "Lee happens to have the body type and mobility of past quarterbacks like David Garrard and Steve McNair," Waldman wrote. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound Lee, per Waldman, is also an intelligent game manager, an aggressive passer, a "quick processor to read the coverage, his receivers, feel pressure, and integrate this 'data' into a a well-executed decision," is tough and makes advanced reads and displays "good accuracy that can be transformed into pro accuracy." Keep on eye on the underrated former Georgia Tech signal caller as we move through the process.

Pro Football Focus' Gordon McGuiness argues that Bowling Green QB Matt Johnson is the "best developmental QB in the draft" and suggests Arizona and San Francisco should give him a hard look on Day 3.
Johnson checked in to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl at 5-foot-11 1/2, the biggest ding on his resume. He also played in a simplistic (though high-octane) collegiate offense that didn't ask him to make a ton of complex reads. What makes Johnson intriguing from a developmental standpoint is his undeniable success (4,946 yards, 67.3% completions and 46/8 TD/INT ratio last year) and big arm. He collected 1,698 yards and 20 touchdowns on throws that traveled 20 or more yards in the air, marks that led the nation last year. PFF also graded him out as the No. 2 passer in college last year. As for team fits, McGuiness likes Arizona because Bruce Arians' downfield passing fetish suits Johnson perfectly. He also thinks Chip Kelly would know how to use Johnson. "We know that’s meant to be a quarterback-friendly system, where Johnson could throw quick screens and go routes to create big plays," he wrote.

Rookie Scouting Portfolio's Matt Waldman observed that TCU WR Kolby Listenbee's shown the ability to play strong football despite his outward build.
Waldman highlights several of Listenbee's plays to illustrate this point, including an impressive catch he made against Ole Miss for a touchdown in the Peach Bowl back in 2014. On that one, the 6-foot-1, 183-pounder wrestled a would-be interception away from the Rebel defender and fell into the end zone. This is the kind of physicality that a pure sprinter like Listenbee needs to show if he's going to stick in the NFL. We already know he's really, really fast--he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine--but an added physical level would help to keep him from bouncing out of the league. The track star's previously indicated that while football remains his No. 1 choice, he would consider going pro in track if he's unable to find a long-term pro team.

At Minnesota's Monday pro day, one scout’s had WR K.J. Maye's 40-yard dash at 4.53 seconds, while another had 4.60.
This goes to show you how unreliable pro day testing is. Gophers wide receivers coach Brian Anderson didn't believe it mattered one way or the other, since Maye’s game isn't predicated on speed, but route running and technical skill. The National Football Post's Greg Gabriel wrote in January that the 5-foot-10, 194-pound Maye's "lack of size (height) and speed will limit him" but called Maye "fearless" and "competitive" with a knack to run himself open. Gabriel thinks Maye will make for a solid NFL slot receiver.

Oklahoma WR Sterling Shepard was extremely efficient in the slot, catching 82.5% of the targets thrown his way when aligning inside, according to Pro Football Focus.
This was the highest percentage in the draft class. To take the point further, 76.7 percent of Shepard's catches this season came after lining up as a slot receiver. It would be fair to conclude that Shepard is at his best in the slot and projects there in the NFL, however, Shepard possesses traits and flashes of an outside receiver, which theoretically improves his evaluation.

Former NFL Personnel man and current Cowboys reporter Bryan Broaddus considers Colorado State WR Rashard Higgins a third-rounder.
The 6-foot-2, 188-pound Hollywood Higgins posted a poor 4.64 second 40-yard dash at the Combine. He excels in route running and technical aspects of the game. For those reasons, Erik Galko of Optimum Scouting and Sporting News compares Higgins to Tyler Lockett in terms of early NFL potential.

Mississippi State WR De'Runnya Wilson only converted 27.3 percent of the contested catches he was involved in during games charted by Matt Harmon.
So where does Wilson win exactly? After Wilson's NFL Combine workout, 99 percent of the NFL's receivers are more athletic than the Mississippi State product. Yes, Wilson still has to complete the short shuttle and 3-cone, but... yikes. This contested catch percentage, which Wilson should theoretically shine in thanks to his 6-foot-5 222-pound frame, is the worst of the 21 receivers Harmon charted.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler spoke with another NFL scout who compared Baylor WR Corey Coleman to Steve Smith.
Look, we love Coleman. Probably more than any other website or group of evaluators. But he is not Steve Smith. Smitty was rare at going up and winning at the catch point for a sub-6-foot receiver. Now, after the catch there could be some similarities, as both are electric at creating yards in the open field. Coleman is an outstanding athlete and should be a first-round selection, but growth is needed, mainly in areas where he has flashed (strength in contested situations).

Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott has official April visits scheduled with the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals and has scheduled private workouts for the end of March with the Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys.
In preparation for Mississippi State's pro day on Thursday, Prescott has been building a script. "The whole script is a bunch of three-step and five-step drops," Prescott said. "I don't think I'm going to take any snaps from the shotgun at all. It's all going to be from under center." Prescott will throw to former Bulldogs Jameon Lewis, Robert Johnson, tight end Darrion Hutcherson as well as his go-to man De'Runnya Wilson. Prescott met with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers at the Combine.

Clemson WR Charone Peake improved his 40 time to 4.38 at the school's pro day.
Expect the forty times to be all over the map at pro day workouts. In fact, we have seen some reports of 4.29 for Peake. The Clemson receiver ran a 4.45 at the NFL Combine and the rest of his workout produced a slightly below average athlete. On the field, Peake boasts a 6-foot-2 209-pound frame and is super physical after the catch.

What the heck is this?

Cal QB Jared Goff's NFL Combine interview with the Browns was "bad," according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

Hue Jackson has since denied the statement, but Robinson stands behind what he heard and noted that Goff and the Browns will talk at least two more times during the process (likely at his pro day and an in-house visit, is our guess). ESPN's Josina Anderson backs up what Robinson claims by adding "I don’t know if (Goff) fully understands how he’s coming off to grown men. It’s been discussed. Off putting." This process is a long one and we will hear some teams like or dislike specific prospects. However, the Browns are currently in desperate need of a quarterback, and many feel Goff is worthy of a top 10 selection. We do not.

I am pretty sure I would try to come across as off-putting as possible to Cleveland if I was a QB prospect.

A guy that sees that he has a great chance at playing for the 49ers?

Act a little odd, they pass on you and grab Wentz. Then you get to play for the team you really want to play for. The big money is now in the 2nd contract.

" Former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence, Starkville Police Chief Frank Nichols told The Clarion-Ledger.

The arrest occurred near the Cotton District in Starkville at 12:45 a.m. Police pulled over Prescott in a white 2016 Cadillac Escalade. He was released on bond. No further details were immediately available...

...Prescott spent Saturday morning hosting a camp that more than 200 children attended at Starkville High School. He was in Starkville for the school's pro day on Thursday, throwing in front of scouts from 30 of the 32 NFL teams. He met with all of them at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, and the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks are all believed to have interest in Prescott. He was expected to visit with the Buffalo Bill prior to the draft.

The arrest comes about two months from the NFL draft at the end of April. The quarterback is projected as a second- or third-round pick after winning the Senior Bowl MVP and working out at the NFL combine last month.

It's unclear at this point how much this arrest will affect Prescott's NFL draft stock, though certainly one of his positive traits for the image-conscious NFL was his image as a good character athlete."

I'll just never for the life of me understand how ####### dumb some of guys are.  Millions, literally on the line, and you aren't smart enough to call a cab, get a hotel room, or sleep on the GD street if it comes to that?  Unreal.
