James Conner - RB - Panthers

ESPN's David M. Hale believes Pittsburgh junior RB James Conner "was the complete package" last season and is "worthy" of being ranked the No. 1 player in the ACC.

The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Connor was a workhorse back for the Panthers in 2014, rushing for 1,765 yards and scoring 26 touchdowns, earning ACC Player of the Year and First Team All-American honors. With another solid year under his belt, Conner could set himself up for a Heisman run this season.

Terrel Hunt - QB - Orange

Syracuse redshirt senior QB Terrel Hunt's "potential is enormous but the ability to pull it together and play disciplined football is a big question," Draft Insider Tony Pauline observes.

"Quarterback Terrel Hunt is an interesting case. Hunt possesses next level physical skills and flashed big time ability as a sophomore but makes a lot of questionable decisions and shows immaturity in his game," Pauline writes. The Syracuse prospect only played in five games in 2014, after breaking his foot versus Louisville. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-3, 234-pound Hunt passed for 1,638 yards and 10 touchdowns, while rushing for 500 yards and seven touchdowns.

FSU graduate QB Everett Golson impressed head coach Jimbo Fisher in his first practice since transferring from Notre Dame to Florida State.

Said Fisher, "Knowing it in the classroom and on the board is different than when it starts flying...But the good thing about it is [Golson]'s played in a lot of big games, and a lot of big situations so I'm sure he'll be nervous like a freshman out there." Fisher bounced all over the place in the span of a few sentences, but we think he's impressed? Golson played erratically during his tenure with the Fighting Irish and is not necessarily guaranteed the starter role for the Seminoles, who could also turn to Sean Maguire, but it seems likely that we'll see him manning the helm of the FSU offense in the near future.

Michigan State senior QB Connor Cook's "arm strength and ability to fit passes into tight windows have allowed the Spartans to make big plays in the passing game to support a consistently good ground attack," notes Sports on Earth's Matt Brown.

"While Cook's decision-making and accuracy aren't as consistent as you would like, behind a great offensive line Cook has avoided making many costly mistakes, with a manageable eight interceptions last year and hardly any sacks taken," Brown wrote. He ranks Cook as the No. 34 overall player in the land. We like Cook's situational awareness, but the skill sometimes leads to the mistakes discussed by Brown: He had a higher QB rating when blitzed last year because of a usually-good instinct to loft the ball outside into single coverage after recognizing pre-snap aggressiveness from the defense. That style leads to big plays when the receiver finds the ball and mistakes when the defender does instead, though both scenarios stem from the same impulse. Coaching may be able to help him recognize when he's being bated into a disadvantageous scenario.

Pittsburgh junior WR Tyler Boyd is "both a possession receiver and a dangerous deep threat, a complete all-around receiver who will continue to excel in a passing game poised to take a step forward," writes Sports on Earth's Matt Brown.

In the estimation of Brown, Boyd is the 36th-best player in the country. Boyd will miss the season opener against Youngstown State because of a DUI charge. That mistake will be noted in his evaluation materials, but he should be able to mitigate its effect on his draft standing by staying out of trouble and having another monster season. He has 163 catches and 2,435 receiving yards in only two years.

Washington HC Chris Petersen is hoping for a "breakout year" from junior RB Dwayne Washington and believes he "could do some special things," Seattle Times' Adam Jude reports.

The 6-foot-2, 225 pound Washington dealt with injuries in 2014, but still managed to rush for 697 yards, while averaging 7.8 yards per carry. The Huskies potential breakout candidate, has clocked a hand-time 4.42-second 40-yard dash. Last season, Washington was named the Huskie's Most Outstanding Offensive Player by the team.

Miss State junior WR De’Runnya Wilson has gained 10 lbs of muscle and is up to 235 lbs.

Wilson apparently wants to play closer to 230 lbs, but he still presents a large target at 6'5". There are some similarities in Wilson and Kelvin Benjamin's games, but the Miss State player has dealt with a few more issues off the field. He was arrested in March on marijuana possession. The SEC might have the most WR talent in the country, and Wilson's name should be listed among the best.

Auburn senior WR Duke Williams "possesses a rare combination of size, speed and physicality for a college wideout," writes Sports on Earth's Matt Brown.

"With Sammie Coates gone at receiver and Jeremy Johnson stepping in at quarterback, Williams is about to become the clear No. 1 target in an offense that should be more productive in the passing game," Brown wrote. The 6-foot-2, 224-pound Williams managed 45 receptions for 730 yards with five touchdowns in only 10 games last year, his first for the Tigers after transferring in from a JUCO. Brown grades him as the No. 48 overall player in the country.

Auburn senior WR Duke Williams was not at practice on Thursday and the date for his return is unknown.

Williams is dealing with "personal business" and is considered day to day. It has been an odd offseason for Williams. After deciding to stay at Auburn he went on a Twitter rant, basically saying he was unhappy despite teammates and coaches praising him this spring. That tirade seemed to be taken care of soon after. Williams shined in the slot last year and was expected to be Auburn's "No. 1 receiver."

Auburn HC Gus Malzahn told reporters senior WR Duke Williams is being held out for a "discipline issue."

"I will let you know when he's back," Malzahn stated. Williams missed his second straight practice on Saturday. Previously, Malzahn said Williams' absence was for "personal business," but it appears the staff or school was involved in the decision after all. Williams is Auburn's top receiver and shined in the slot last season. It is too early to know if he will or will not miss actual game action.

Steven Scheu - TE - Commodores

If Vanderbilt redshirt senior TE Steven Scheu has a great combine, NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter thinks he "could end up cracking the top 100."

"The second-team All-SEC pick has an excellent catch radius," wrote Reuter. "He also has just enough speed to make his way down the seam for big gains whether in a three-point stance or lined up on the hash." The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Scheu (pronounced SHOY) had 39 catches for 525 yards and four touchdowns in 2014, including 20 receptions and three scores in the last five games.

Tevaun Smith - WR - Hawkeyes

Iowa senior WR Tevaun Smith "has the ability to be a solid No. 2 option for an NFL team within a couple of seasons," proposes NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter.

"Smith has flashed potential in a part-time starting role the past two seasons, and is ready to become the team's go-to playmaker," wrote Reuter. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Smith was an honorable mention All-Big Ten pick in 2014 with 43 catches for 596 yards and three scores. Smith, who grew up in Toronto, Ontario, boasts 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash.

Bucky Hodges - TE - Hokies

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports that Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore TE Bucky Hodges will leave for the NFL after this season if he has a big year.

The 6-foot-6, 249-pound Hodges caught 45 passes for 526 yards and seven touchdowns. "The athletic redshirt sophomore displayed dominant big play abilities last season as well as a large degree of consistency," Pauline wrote. "His upside is enormous and despite the fact I’ve stamped him as a third round prospect, Hodges has first round potential. People close to the program tell me Hodges will bolt for the NFL if he puts together a productive campaign in 2015." The analyst stamped him as a Rd. 3 prospect.

Alabama junior TE O.J. Howard is expected to be a a big part of the school's passing game.

Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin told reporters as much. Hopefully it is the truth, as Howard is one of the more talented tight ends in the country but only caught 31 passes in two seasons on limited targets. Howard is averaging 17 yards per catch, which is a high figure for the position. Outside of Derrick Henry, Alabama is retooling on offense, so focusing on getting Howard more involved makes a lot of sense.

Pro Football Focus graded USC redshirt senior Cody Kessler as the clear top returning QB in the FBS.

Kessler is in a tier of his own, according to PFF's grades, with Cal's Jared Goff behind. The grades then become very similar, with WKU's Brandon Doughty, TCU Trevone Boykin and Clemson's Deshaun Watson round out the top five. Kessler is very successful in USC's offense since he handles a pocket very well and will work to multiple reads and levels of the field. As previously blurbed, Penn State's Christian Hackenberg was graded as PFF's worst quarterback in the FBS.

Ohio State HC Urban Meyer announced graduate Braxton Miller is now a "full-time wide receiver."

When announcing his position change, Miller had said he would play "H-back" this fall (a sort of hybrid RB/WR position). We expect his actual position to be somewhere in-between. Ohio State has enough weapons on the outside to facilitate Miller moving around the formation, occasionally lining up in the backfield. If you asked us to predict how he's going to be used this year, we'd say something between how Meyer used Percy Harvin and Aaron Hernandez at Florida.

Arkansas junior WR Keon Hatcher has "shown flashes of next level ability," observes TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Hatcher hauled in 43 receptions for a team-leading 558 yards and six touchdowns on the Razorbacks' run-first offense. The versatile Arkansas prospect also added in 112 yards rushing on 5 rushing attempts, while averaging 23.2 yards per return last season. Pauline notes that Hatcher has "average size/speed numbers but enough skill to line-up as a fifth receiver on Sunday."

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports that there's "a lot of love in the scouting community" for Auburn senior WR Duke Williams because he "possesses awesome size/speed numbers."

That love doesn't extend to Pauline himself, who dismissed Duke with a third-round grade. "In my opinion he also comes with an incredibly consistent game and is more athlete than polished receiver to this point," he wrote. The 6-foot-2, 224-pound Williams managed 45 receptions for 730 yards with five touchdowns in only 10 games last year.

Laquon Treadwell - WR - Rebels

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline wrote that Ole Miss junior WR Laquon Treadwell "projects as a [No. 1 receiver] at the next level."

Pauline called Treadwell "smooth, almost graceful" and praised his hands. The big question mark as we near the start of the season is whether the junior will be able to completely recover--both physically and mentally--from the broken fibula and dislocated ankle he suffered last season. Thus far, word from Ole Miss camp is that the receiver is "ready for a big season" and earlier this month, Sports on Earth's Matt Brown called him the "most complete receiver in college football."

NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt is "hearing very positive things out" of Ole Miss on junior WR Laquon Treadwell.

"Hearing very positive things out of Ole Miss on WR Laquon Treadwell. They love him, say he's ready for big season after devastating injury," Brandt tweeted. The Ole Miss prospect suffered a broken fibula and dislocated ankle last season. Prior to injury, the 6-foot-2, 212-pounder hauled in 48 catches for 632 yards and five touchdowns.

Josh Doctson - WR - Horned Frogs

TCU redshirt senior WR Josh Doctson is a "reliable wide out who displays solid run after the catch skill," TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline observes.

"Doctson lacks elite size/speed numbers which will push him out of the top 40 selections, though a number of scouts believe he is the top receiver from the senior class," Pauline wrote. Last season, the TCU prospect posted just the second 1,000-yard receiving season in Horned Frogs history. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound wideout hauled in 65 receptions for 1,018 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2014.

South Carolina senior TE Jerell Adams might be "the most intriguing prospect" on the team, according to TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

He reports that scouts grades Adams as a middle round value. "Adams offers size, speed (4.6’s) and growth potential," Pauline wrote. "What he lacks is productivity and a body of work. The potential is there for Adams to make a move up draft boards with a big senior season." The analyst grades Adams as a preseason Rd. 7 prospect. The 6-foot-6, 231-pounder posted 21 catches for 279 yards and one touchdown last year.

NFL scouts want to know if Auburn senior WR Duke Williams "can thrive as a go-to guy in 2015 as they try to determine whether he's a top-10 pick or a second-rounder with question marks," reports NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter.

Reuter ranks him as the class' No. 6 overall senior prospect. We figure Williams will either end up higher or lower. That's because, as Reuter mentioned, he has elite talent and a laundry list of concerns. For one, Auburn HC Gus Malzahn seems to discipline him out of habit by now. Second, Williams has not been the most durable player on the college gridiron.

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline called Miss State junior WR De’Runnya Wilson a "big time game controlling receiver."

"Like his counter part from ‘Ole Miss, Wilson physically beats down opponents and dominates the opposition," Pauline wrote. The analyst gave Wilson a Rd. 2 grade. We see the muscled, 6-foot-5, 225-pound former basketball player Wilson as a Kelvin Benjamin-type with off-field baggage.

Braxton Miller - QB - Buckeyes

11 Warriors' Ross Fulton expects Ohio State HC Urban Meyer to target 15 touches for senior Braxton Miller in every game.

These touches could be produced from passes, handoffs, pitches, direct snaps, etc. It is obvious that Braxton is one of Meyer's all time favorites, so expect to see designed plays to get Miller in space this season. The former quarterback could even see time at his old position.

Cody Kessler - QB - Trojans

ESPN's Phil Steele says USC redshirt senior Cody Kessler is the best Heisman contender in the nation.

"The previous five Heisman Trophy winners were all quarterbacks," Steele wrote. "If you average out their Heisman-winning seasons, they threw for about 300 yards per game and had a 68.9 completion percentage with a 36-7 TD-to-INT ratio. Kessler's numbers last season were: 294 ypg, 69.7 percent with a 39-5 ratio. It also doesn't hurt to have all five starting offensive linemen back, as well as several weapons at receiver and tight end." The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Kessler also averaged 8.5 yards per attempt on 69.7 percent completions.

ESPN predicts Georgia graduate QB Greyson Lambert will win the starting job.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Virginia transfer "really impressed the staff upon arrival this summer," reported ESPN's Travis Haney, who added that new OC Brian Schottenheimer likes him. Lambert is competing with Faton Bauta and Brice Ramsey. "I never could figure out why [Lambert] didn’t play more at Virginia," one coach in the region told me. "I thought he was pretty damn good. Reliable. Smart. I’m not surprised [Georgia] went after him." TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline compares Lambert to Jim Drunkenmiller and grades him as a sixth-rounder.

TCU senior WR Kolby Listenbee "flashes big play ability but needs to up his production a bit," notes TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.

Pauline added that he "like the potential" of the Horned Frogs' playmaker. The analyst grades Listenbee as a preseason Rd. 5 prospect. "Listenbee offers terrific measurables and the talent to line-up as a third receiver on Sunday," he wrote. The 6-foot-1, 183-pounder has the fastest time amongst college football players in the 100-meter dash (10.04 seconds). He recorded 38 receptions for 709 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Per TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, Tennessee junior WR Marquez North has the ability to quickly work up draft boards this fall.

The analyst grades North as a Rd. 5 prospect at present. The 6-foot-4, 224-pound North suffered a leg injury in practice last week but is expected to return to the field this week.
