[Dynasty] 2017 Draft Prospects (1 Viewer)

BYU senior RB Jamaal Williams accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.
After sitting out the 2015 season while rehabbing a knee injury, Williams has been downright dominant in 2016. The 6-foot, 200-pounder has rushed for 1,156 yards (5.6 YPC) and 11 touchdowns in just nine games this season. Had he not missed three games due to injury, a 1,500-yard campaign might have been within reach. As is, the 2016 season marked the second time in his career that he has surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground. In mid-October, NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter wrote that Williams' style of running is "somewhat reminiscent of Eric Dickerson's," noting that the BYU standout "runs with lean as well as strength."

#Georgia confirms that Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Lorenzo Carter, and Davin Bellamy are all returning to Athens for the 2017 season.
Seems kinda stupid for Chubb to risk another season at UGA when he could've been drafted this year, even if it's mid rounds?  Any idea what the contract differences are between say a 3rd or 4th round pick vs a 2nd round pick?

I've seen mocks with him falling in the 2nd and 3rd round.

He'll have some tough competition with Barkley and Guice around.

Wow that's disappointing as heck.  Good for him, you're only a kid once, hopefully he enjoys the opportunity.  It does free up a 1st rounder for me in each league though, 'cause I was going to get him regardless.

Derrick Henry as a fairly high second round pick is around $1.3 per year and Yeldon around $1.4 from previous season drafted in similar spot. I don't think we had a late second round RB last season but the previous year Abdullah went fairly late second and came in just over a million.

Third round you are seeing most of those players from last two years in the $750-850 range. 4th round you start hovering near league minimum.

Shame really the way the CBA works against RB's, something needs to be done for that position that takes into account the longevity.

Kind of opposite for me. Based on what I've been reading here past few weeks I was way lower on him than consensus and looked forward to him coming out and pushing someone else back to me. I had him as more of a fantasy rookie pick second round guy.

Based on the talk of him for the last couple years, I could not see him lasting until the second round in many 12-team dynasty drafts.

If Chubb was going to be a 3rd rounder, or even later, I get why he would come back.

Funny thing is, if he turns himself into a first rounder, with the team option on 1st rounders, he would lose another year of FA eligibility.

But the money from 4th round to 2nd or 1st is legit, I get why he would go back.  Bummed, as I was hoping to get him late 1st.

Probably right but has nothing to do with my point which is he is a second round pick to ME and why I wanted him to come out, to push someone back to me because I think he would have been overdrafted based on who he was, not who he is.

So 2018 now has Barkley, Guice and Chubb (let's assume he recovers to pre-2016 form).  Try and trade 2nd half 1st for 2018 first?

In the end i bet Chubb declares.  He made a decision based on emotion (his reasoning was GT tore down some vines at their stadium, lol) and once he thinks it through will most likely enter the draft. Just way too risky for him to go back to college.

That video of Mixon punching a woman is so bad and graphic; no way he's drafted right? No, I don't want to post the video either

+2

I was thinking the same thing.

Someone in his circle has to encourage Chubb to enter the draft, right?  Hell, if his coach really cares about him, he should step up and drop some wisdom on the kid.  I think Chubb would be a top 60 pick in this upcoming draft.

Lots of people feel the same, but then again the NFL is a different animal.  Maybe he would go in the 5th in the NFL draft with everyone on here speculating he goes in the late 1st.  You just never know.  I would trust the advisory board for the draft and what he specifically is hearing from teams, if that stuff isn't good then I get why he wouldn't come out.

From what i've read he hasn't heard from advisory board, and highly doubt he'd fall past the mid 3rd at the latest.  he made a rash decision based on emotion.  my money is on him coming out.

I hear ya, and I'm not happy about it either, but anyone who thinks this guy won't be in the NFL is simply naive.
Agreed, just as I avoided rostering Ty Hill until he performed on the field. Then I grabbed him up wherever I could. Hypocrite here.

There's no way he's not drafted, sorry. That stuff only matters if you can't play. He can play, he'll be drafted.
I'm not so sure.  That's a whole lot of heat to draft a guy while the cameras are still rolling late Saturday afternoon with networks desperate to fill a few hours with content.  Much quieter to do it the next morning.  He'll definitely get signed soon after if not drafted though.

I'd agree if he was a lesser talent, but he's way to talented to go undrafted. The draft is months away and the outrage over this will fade quite a bit between now and then.

Mixon is probably a third day pick, less scrutiny that way.

If JuJu Smith may stay in school, if he stay in school I may just drop him.

Tex
That would be crazy. He's 20, another year might be just what he needs. At this point, if he stays, you have to keep him rostered in devy leagues. I assume there is no such thing as a short bench devy league, because what would be the point.

If you drop him in a devy league you need to find a new hobby because quite frankly you have no idea what you're doing.

I can only carry one devy player on my roster unless I trade for the extra devy pick. IF JuJu go back to school and IF Barkley or Guice is on the board when I make my selection I will drop him and not think twice. I have Cook and Mike Williams coming out this year, with 7 picks out of the first 13 spots in 2017 I'm going to clean up and this is a no-brainer for me.

Tex

Even with limited dev spots I have a hard time believing you can't trade him though.  You gotta be able to get something you can't just drop the guy.

That's certainly a possibility but to be clearer what I'm saying if I have no other options and those two backs are sitting there I'm not holding on to him. They are easily ranked #1 and #2 for 2018 in a tier by themselves and at this point I'm sure all who are in Dynasty would do the same if that opportunity was there. I held on to M. Williams after he hurt his neck. I wanted Corey Davis but I couldn't draft him because I had M. Williams looking back I should have dropped Williams as I believe Davis is much better in every facet of the game.

I am officially declaring it time for me to watch these prospects and form some opinions.  Looking forward to it now that my fantasy season is over.  Bitter sweet, but dynasty never rests right?
