[Dynasty] 2022 NFL Draft Class (1 Viewer)

Western Michigan WR Skyy Moore had his hands measured at 10 1/4 inches. 

While small hand sizes have been the news of the day, Skyy Moore is making waves the opposite direction. His 10 1/4 inch hands are massive, bigger than Treylon Burks who reportedly needed custom gloves for his hands. Moore is one of the fastest risers in this pre-draft process, and while hand size isn't everything for any position, it certainly can't hurt to have giant mitts.

They changed schedule this year to bench being same day as other workouts, whereas it was a day earlier before. Some analysts were speculating this would lead to more players skipping it at the combine. That's probably the reason, moreso than not feeling confident in their measurement.

San Diego State TE Daniel Bellinger has been posting eye opening numbers at the combine, and has been meeting with the Buccaneers.

Bellinger (6'6"/255) rocked 22 reps on the bench press, and then ran a 4.63 on his first 40 attempt. That's size, speed and strength all in one package, and TE mismatches are all the rage in the NFL. This is a notably deep TE group, and his stats don't pop out but that athletic combination is quite nice. Bellinger has met with the Buccaneers, who might be in the market for a TE pending Gronkowski's decision.

UCLA TE Greg Dulcich posted a 4.61 40-yard dash time.

It was very important for Dulcich to test fast. He's not huge at 6'3", 245, and if he's going to project pretty much only as a pass catcher he needs to impress here and he did. He shined in the Senior Bowl, and had the numbers to back up his great season at UCLA where he caught 42 passes for 725 yards and five touchdowns.

Maryland TE Chigoziem Okonkwo posted a 4.54 on his first attempt, and a 4.52 second attempt at the 40-yard dash. 

Okonkwo (6'2"/244) impressed at the Shrine Bowl, and has now started well at the combine. He's on the shorter side for a tight end, but that speed is no joke. He's got the fastest time so far by quite the margin. He was fast enough to be used on screens at Maryland, and posted a nice 447 yard, five touchdown stat line in 2021.

Virginia TE Jelani Woods posted a 4.61 40-yard dash and 24 reps on the bench press.

Woods (6'6"/259) might not have the fastest time at the combine, but when you take that speed and his mammoth size and strength and you really got something going here. That sounds nearly un-guardable for anyone, LB, CB or S. He rocked 598 yards and eight touchdown for Virginia after transferring from Oklahoma State, and that's a great way to stand out from a deep TE crowd.

Memphis WR Calvin Austin posted a 11'3 broad jump at the combine.

That ranks in the 98th percentile. Austin (5'7"/173) obviously won't wow you with size, so he needs outstanding athletic testing to make up ground and this is a fantastic start. He's also expected to impress in the speed and agility drills, and if this is any indication of his explosiveness he's in for a great day.

Disappointing that McBride and Likely didn't run 40s. I feel they are the 2 best seam stretchers in the TE class. Likely had rumors of being a 4.4 guy. 

 
Notre Dame WR Kevin Austin Jr jumped 39" in the vertical jump and 11' in the broad jump.

Austin Jr (6'2/215) was the main vertical threat this year for the Irish and his testing numbers have shown why. His vertical and broad jump both finished above the 90th percentile and showed how good of an athlete he is. With a really solid finish to the week, Austin Jr could make himself a lot of money and solidify himself as a pick on day two.

Michigan State WR Jalen Nailor jumped 38' in the vertical and 10'8" in the broad jump on Thursday.

Nailor (6'0/190) had a breakout year in East Lansing as the deep threat for quarterback Payton Thorne. He took advantage of the breakout year by entering the NFL Draft. On Thursday, Nailor started off his athletic testing with a bang, with both of his jumps coming in very impressive. Both of his jumps were in the top-five so far at the position. With a receiver group that is in flux after the first tier, Nailor could position himself to make some money this week.

If I’m out on a 5’8” Wan’Dale Robinson I sure as hell won’t be drafting a 5’7” WR.  I don’t care if he can outrun a Cheetah.

 
 
Yeah sure, it’s the underwear Olympics.  But this “such a weak class” talk has been a bit much.  There may not be a sure fire stud (there rarely is, even when there is), but this class is gonna be silly deep.  Insane WR depth, a really solid group of TEs, three RBs that should be drafted to be starters and about five more that will have the chance to be, and a pool of meh QBs.  Going to be a fun rookie class with rankings all over the board.  

 
Baylor WR Tyquan Thornton ran an unofficial 4.21 40-yard dash Thursday night at the combine.

This wide receiver group is one of the fastest in recent memory and Thornton (6'3/182) just unofficially broke it. Set by Washington's John Ross five years ago in 2017, there have been individuals that have flirted with it, just as they did with Chris Johnson's 4.24 second time in 2008. Thornton was flying and it even looked like he stumbled out of the blocks initially, which is insane given how fast his time was. Thornton is one of a number of receivers in that late day two/day three range and this could easily help him separate from the pack.

Boise State WR Khalil Shakir ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the combine on Thursday night.

Shakir (6'0/190) has drawn comparisons to Cooper Kupp in recent weeks due to his crisp route running, work at the catch point, and ability in the open field. What didn't stand out in his film was speed. He appeared to have fringe 4.5 speed, something that NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah echoed on the broadcast. He surprised everyone by running a 4.35 and backed it up with a 4.40. This will open eyes for evaluators, as Shakir showed an element of his game that wasn't on his tape.

No 2 on my list/rankings last year and still prefer him over Waddle as an example despite what Waddle accomplished his rookie season. 

I need to learn more about Skyy and one thing Elijah had going for him IMO was the level of competition was extremely high in the SEC and I think Skyy hails from a slightly less competitive conference so I do need to see something special that will elevate his game. He has a lot of upside, could sneak in late 1st, love him in the 2nd Round.  

 
Brown QB EJ Perry made some impressive throws at the combine.

Perry was a relative unknown going into the draft process. He blew up at the Shrine Bowl having been named co-MVP of the game and went into the combine with a little bit of momentum. During passing drills, Perry held his own, making all the requisite throws needed and throwing a couple of really nice deep balls. A draft that is void of talent in the later rounds, Perry showed himself worthy of a flier late in the draft.

Baylor WR Tyquan Thornton's official 40-yard dash time dropped seven-hundredths of a second to 4.28 seconds.

The second group of receivers was going faster than any in recent memory and the results are shifting shortly after the session finished. Thornton (6'3/182) saw his time drop to 4.28 and Ohio State WR Chris Olave saw his drop from 4.26 to 4.39. What would cause those times to drop that drastically? Perhaps a new timer. Underdog Fantasy's Josh Norris pointed out that Charley Casserly is no longer doing the timing for the NFL Network and that it's Marc Ross' first year in doing so. A clearly unideal circumstance for the league, network, and the athletes.

You can answer in the Waddle or Moore thread so we don't clutter things here, but I'm curious why you have Waddle behind Moore at this late date.  What did Moore do/didn't Waddle do, because the consensus seems to be that Waddle is a stud.

 
UTSA RB Sincere McCormick's official measurements were released at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine on Friday.

McCormick (5'9/205) made the decision to forgo his final year of eligibility at UTSA and declared for the 2022 NFL Draft back in December. The rusher, named First-Team All-CUSA in 2021, had his official combine measurements released from Indianapolis this week: 5-foot-8.5, 205 pounds, 29 7/8" arms and 9 1/8" hands. That's a slight deviation overall from what he was listed at this past season.

The official measurements on Washington State RB Max Borghi were released at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.

Borghi (5'10/205) announced he was declaring for the draft back in December. He's had the chance to show more of what he can do throughout the offseason and training, including with an invite to the combine. His official measurements were released Friday and are as follows: 5-foot-9, 210 pounds 29 5/8" arms and 9 1/8" hands.

LSU RB Tyrion-Davis Price's official measurements were released at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine on Friday.

Davis-Price (6'0/211) played his last game for the LSU Tigers in the Texas Bowl and is now set to find his next destination after declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft shortly after. Since, he's been working on showing teams what he can do in offseason training and other opportunities to get in front of scouts, including the combine. Davis-Price's official measurements were released this week: 6-foot, 211 pounds, 30 3/4" arms and 9 1/4" hands.

Rutgers RB Isaiah Pacheco posts one of the fastest 40-times amongst running backs. 

Pacheco's (5'11/220) numbers don't jump off the stat sheet as he posted only one season over 700 rushing yards. He does have good vision and his footwork helped him average 4.4 yards per carry this season, but his instincts aren't of an elite running back, and he goes down easily after contact. His speed was on display and should have some team's attention as his 4.37 40-yard dash is tied with SDSU's Pierre Strong for the fastest amongst running backs. If you look at him as a pure runner, the talent is there, and this 40 time should have some teams interested. If they can fix some of his weaknesses, he could be a value in the mid-rounds.

KAYVON THIBODEAUX PLAYING FOOTBALL LIKE A GAME OF CHESS

Oregon EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux has some thoughts on who his game compares to.

Thibodeaux (6'5/250) has received plenty of hype ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. Some of that has changed to concern, with questions surrounding his motor, though rumors ahead of April should sometimes be taken with a grain of salt. Thibodeaux spoke with the media at the combine to answer questions regarding a host of topics, including who he is most similar to. According to Thibodeaux, he's the second coming of Jadeveon Clowney. “I feel like I’m Jadeveon 2.0," he told reporters. It will be interesting to see just how much his career trajectory aligns with Clowney's and how much of a good thing that truly is.

Did a double take for this one. Borghi seemed like the guy that would come in a hair under 200. Coming in over his listed weight will have me taking a 2nd look. 

Side note- Why does roto print the listed weight of the players when the post is simply relaying the combine height and weight? That's confusing. Either update the listed weight or don't post it. 

 
Admittedly I’m not paying much attention outside of updates here, but what’s up with Isaiah Spiller?  He not there, testing meh, something else making him invisible?

He’s not testing in events such as the forty, and when he is testing, it’s going poorly.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Texas A&M RB Isaiah Spiller went through drills at the combine with a strained abdominal muscle.    

Spiller (6'1"/225) was a limited participant in the athletic drills at the combine and we're now getting the reason why. According to Spiller's agent Rocky Arceneaux, Spiller strained his abdomen muscle during his training which limited him at the combine. He said his client will be a full participant at his pro day and will "show why he should be the first RB taken.”
