[Dynasty] 2022 NFL Draft Class (3 Viewers)

Don't sleep on Boise State WR Khalil Shakir

Boise State senior WR Khali Shakir caught eight passes for 84 yards in a 23-13 win over Wyoming on Friday night.

Shakir (6'0/190) continued his stellar play for the Broncos this season. Consistently the steady hand for QB Hank Bachmeier, Shakir was always there when he was needed. With 52 seconds left in the first half, that was on full display. The first three plays were all completions to Shakir for 18, 15, and 11 yards, flipping the field for the Broncos to set up a field goal to go up 10-7 at the half. This was the sixth game for Shakir with over seven catches and his fifth game with over 80 yards. Steady is the name of the game with Shakir and he keeps delivering every week. The Broncos face off against New Mexico next week.

Michigan State redshirt junior WR Jayden Reed is standing out among the rest of the players in the conference at the position.

Reed has made a statement this season, and is the only wideout not from Ohio State to land a spot in the top-four highest-graded wide receivers in the Big Ten. He ranks first overall in the conference at wide receiver according to Pro Football Focus, posting an 86.0 grade ahead of Garrett Wilson (79.4), J. Smith-Njgiba (78.0) and Chris Olave (76.6).

Boise State senior WR Khalil Shakir announced that Saturday will likely be his final home game at Boise State as he plans to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft.

This news shouldn't be all that surprising, as Shakir (6'0/190) is draft eligible, and has put together yet another solid season at Boise State, with this one shaping up to be a career-best. On the year, Shakir has totaled 927 yards and five touchdowns while catching 64-of-96 targets. He has already posted career-highs in receptions and yards, and is two touchdowns away from topping his career-high six touchdowns. Per Pro Football Focus, Shakir has lined up in the slot on 74.9% of his snaps, the highest slot rate of his career. Last season he was almost exclusively an outside receiver, lining up wide on 60.6% of his snaps in 2020 compared to just 32% of his snaps in the slot. Shakir is likely a day three pick as it stands right now, but a strong close to his season and solid combine could propel him up boards in the coming months.

Boise State senior WR Khalil Shakir ended up with seven receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 37-0 win against New Mexico.

Shakir (6'0/190) has seven or more receptions in each of his past four games. He has scored a touchdown in two of the past three games, and he has hit the century mark in yardage twice in the past four games, and four times overall this season. The NFL Draft prospect will look to finish up strong on the road against San Diego State next Friday. He figures to be a Day 3 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft next spring.

Boise State senior WR Khalil Shakir caught six passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in Boise State's 27-16 loss to San Diego State.

Shakir (6'0"/190) has been a star and the go-to guy for the Broncos all year and this game was no different. He beat his man one-on-one to get open for the fade on his touchdown, and whenever Boise State needed a conversion they turned to him. His one run he took on 4th-and-3, juking a guy in the backfield and just picking up the conversion. Unfortunately, with QB Hank Bachmeier falling apart in the second half there wasn't much Shakir could do. He's had a great season though, and will be seen next in whatever bowl Boise State gets in to before he moves on to the NFL.

Ohio State senior TE Jeremy Ruckert accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

After rarely being used as a pass-catcher in 2020, Ruckert (6'5/250) made the decision to return to Columbus for another season. And that choice has proven to be a wise one, as the senior has a 23-284-3 receiving line heading into the regular season finale. Ruckert projects to be a Day 3 selection this spring, and he has been given a fourth-round grade by Pro Football Network draft analyst Tony Pauline.

JALEN TOLBERT WR, SOUTH ALABAMA JAGUARS

WR caught 10 receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 27-21 overtime loss to Coastal Carolina.

Tolbert (6'3"/195) and the Jaguars did a really good job at moving the ball through the air. South Alabama looks like a completely different team when Jack Bently is behind center, and he looked great after missing a couple of games with an injury. Bently was dissecting this secondary, and Tolbert was able to break away and find room for a lot of uncontested catches. These two just looked so in sync as South Alabama responded to their first deficit of the game, and Bently made a throw in the general direction of Tolbert, and he was just able to pinpoint it make the catch to get into the red zone. Coastal Carolina would get their first lead of the game thanks to a Shermari Jones 75-yard touchdown, but Bently and Tolbert would be able to handle the pressure. Bently aired it out and found his favorite target in Tolbert for a 57-yard touchdown. Unfortunately, the veteran Chanticleers proved their talent and were able to tie it at the end of the game and seal the win in overtime. Great game by South Alabama to finish off the season, but they couldn't secure their sixth win and won't go bowling this year.

UTSA junior RB Sincere McCormick rushed 36 times for 204 yards and three touchdowns in Friday's 49-41 win over Western Kentucky.

McCormick (5'9/200) spent the majority of his night refusing to go down, as he gashed the Hilltoppers for 204 yards (5.7 yards per carry) while scoring on rushes of two, 17 and 65 yards. His 65-yard touchdown run marked his second touchdown of the day, and put Western Kentucky in some trouble early, as his score gave the Roadrunners an early 28-13 lead in the second quarter. McCormick smashed his way through Western Kentucky all evening long, as the Hilltoppers missed one tackle after another. McCormick has now rushed 298 times for 1,479 yards and 15 touchdowns, but still has UTSA's bowl game to add to an already stellar season.

JERRETH STERNS IS A NAME YOU NEED TO KNOW

Western Kentucky junior WR Jerreth Sterns caught nine passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 49-41 loss to UTSA.

Sterns (5'9/195) was largely held in check in the first half, as the Hilltoppers only managed one touchdown through the first two quarters, which came on their opening possession. With the Hilltoppers in comeback mode for the entirety of the second-half, Sterns caught touchdown passes for 13 and 34 yards in the third and fourth quarters, and also hauled in a beautifully caught pass on a contested catch which resulted in a two point conversion early in the third quarter to cut UTSA's lead to 42-34. Sterns has been one of the most productive receivers in the nation playing in head coach Tyson Helton's air raid offense. Sterns has now caught 136 passes for 1,710 yards and 14 touchdowns, and will look to add to that total in Western Kentucky's upcoming bowl game.

Oregon junior EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux is officially entering the NFL draft.

Thibodeaux (6'5"/250) has been a projected top-five pick since the season started, and that didn't change through 2021. He racked up 12 TFLs and seven sacks and was a Nagurki Trophy finalist. He's ranked second on PFF's top 100 prospects list. Thibodeaux going to the draft was a foregone conclusion, but it is now official. The only question now is how high the highly regarded EDGE goes. Thibodeaux will not appear in Oregon's bowl game and signs with Wasserman Media Group to represent him.

Virginia Tech redshirt junior TE James Mitchell is forgoing his senior season and entering the NFL Draft.

Mitchell (6'3"/255) missed most of the season with a right knee injury. Mitchell was a multipurpose weapon, scoring seven receiving and five rushing touchdowns in his VT career. He was on the 2021 Mackey Award preseason watchlist, but was unfortunately injured before he could make a real run for the trophy.

Michigan senior DE Aidan Hutchinson has moved to the top spot of ESPN NFL Draft Analyst Mel Kiper's "Big Board".

Hutchinson (6'6/269) has played his way to the Heisman Trophy ceremony on December 11th, and now, also, onto the top spot of Kiper's draft board. The senior defensive end set Michigan's single-season sack record (14.0) and recorded three sacks in Michigan's wins over Penn State and Ohio State. Kiper believes that the no. 1 overall draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft will come down to either Hutchinson or Oregon EDGE rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, who he currently has at no. 2. Kiper has also elevated Michigan EDGE rusher David Ojabo to no. 9 on his board, after Ojabo's 11 sack season.
