This rep by Dawand Jones 1f633.png The Ohio State tackle was reportedly a “standout” player at the first Senior Bowl practice earlier today. Oh, and he has a longer wingspan than Giannis Antetokounmpo. One name that is for sure making his way up draft boards.

DT Keeanu Benton continues to look like a prospect worthy of a day-two pick​

As the season went on, the tape of Wisconsin defensive tackle Keeanu Benton got better. And that has continued into the Senior Bowl as Benton was unblockable in 1-on-1s. He has almost 34-inch arms, a low center of gravity, and knows how to create leverage to gap out blockers in the run game as well.

There is a reason he has been mocked in the top 50 by names like The Athletic’s Dane Brugler. Benton is incredibly light and agile for his size and has put his skills on full display through a day at the Senior Bowl...

North Dakota State offensive lineman Cody Mauch had a good first day of practice. The former tight end who gained almost 70 pounds to play tackle at NDSU was playing inside at guard on Day 1. Despite being lighter in size than most interior offensive linemen, Mauch held up well with good feet and a good ability to work his hands in order to anchor. It was a great sign that he could be a starting-caliber player in the NFL when he puts on more weight and strength.

Mauch started as a preferred walk-on TE at NDSU before gaining 85 pounds and marking the switch to tackle.
Now, he is looking at going within the first two days of the NFL Draft.

Mauch is one of the most athletic tackles in the class. He flies across the field in the run game, where he earned a 90.1 grade this past fall. However, his pass protection technique is still a work in progress, so a move inside could be in his future.

Was a big fan of his 2021 tape, but he had a VERY rocky 2022. Massive dropoff in production.

Will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft. Rounds 3-4 maybe?

Has some Josh Palmer and Michael Thomas vibes in his good moments. Big body with route flexibility and suddenness.

Adetomiwa Adebawore has himself a day​

There was not a bigger winner from the second day of Senior Bowl practices than the Northwestern defensive lineman. Adebawore put his sheer power on full display as he routinely pushed pockets and dominated in 1-on-1s. He even busted out a couple of pass rush moves that cannot be found on his tape.

Again, while his tape is king in his evaluation, he is proving more nuanced than what we saw through his four years with the Wildcats. With the ability to play three-tech, 4i, and five-tech, a team like the Browns may show significant interest in Adebawore.

As an aside, did anyone do any sort of board groupthink ranking exercise post-combine but pre-draft? I know someone did polls after the draft but don't recall whether anyone did before. Don't want to step on anyone's toes, also don't think it's new thread worthy yet and here seems the best place to ask the question. Happy to run something and see what happens if it's a gap in the forum

This game doesn’t draw as many stars as the Senior Bowl but wanted to share some notes I took the other night.

Caleb Murphy Edge Ferris State - first D-II player to win the Ted Hendricks Award (25.5 sacks.) Got a hustle sack. Looked like he belonged. 6030/254 & AFAIK not a Combine invite yet, probably late D3 pick or UDFA. Good sleeper to remember.

Aidan O’Connel QB Purdue - pretty accurate at times, made a nice touch throw on a deep intermediate sideline route.

DTR QB UCLA - played the most of the 6 QBs by a good margin. Not impressed.

Xazavian Valladay RB Arizona State - he got what was there, I could see him making an NFL roster.

Jordan Mims RB Fresno State - nice twitch, ripped off a 30 yarder with an outstanding cut outside after getting through the first level.

Brodeic Martin Western Kentucky - 1-tech space eater (6045/337) but super quick swim move. Natural leader. Gonna be a great late Day 2/early Day 3 pick.

Nic Jones CB Ball State - very impressive, probably going to play slot corner but he can stick with his guy without getting too handsy. Very deep corner class so probably a d3 pick but he’s gonna be on somebody’s 53-man. 5116/191

Jake Moody K Michigan - 4/4 on FGA, two from 35 and two from 51. Couple of touchbacks & IIRC the other team ran back another from 8 yards deep (went badly.) He’s the real deal.

Zay Flowers WR Boston College - by all accounts the star of the week. Sat out the final practice & the game, he’d done enough. Should be a first round pick.

Ricky Stromberg C/G Arkansas 6031/315 - keyed on him whenever he was in, class is thin at IOL. Don’t like his technique, extends his arms too far, gets grabby when he’s beat. Pass pro looked OK at times but doesn’t possess the strength to drive forward in the run game. Played a lot of snaps in college, was disappointing to see him struggled.

Trey Dean III S - like the way he closes. Got an interception off a deflection. Projects as a 4th-5th rounder but I think he could be an impact player. 6025/211

Will Anderson had 207 total pressures across his 3 years at Alabama.
Aidan Hutchinson had 128 in 4 years at Michigan.
Chase Young had 150 in 3 years at Ohio State.
Myles Garrett had 164 in 3 years at Texas A&M.

Long story short, the Alabama edge rusher is SPECIAL

Also, don't forget that the Senior Bowl and Shrine Game are for those guys who didn't declare early. As one Twitter analyst put it: You're sort of scraping the barrel when you look at these guys.

Some guys have legit stories why they didn't come out. Others just weren't good enough.
