Dynasty Commissioners (1 Viewer)

Have any dynasty commissioners found a good system for bringing in new owners? I would like a fair system that lets new owners compete from the 1st year they join a dynasty league.

As an addition?
Yes, new expansion owners or replacing owners that fade away. The Dynasty rules have not been established yet. I would like something in place that lets us bring in new quality owners in the future. Pretty much in future years if someone would be a great addition to the league I want them to join and be competitive right away.

One year advanced entry fee payment required. If you quit, than you lose your advanced year payment and the new owner gets their first year free to build the team the way they want.

What happens when you want to replace an owner? For example if you catch them in a collusion trade or they just stop competing and are not a good fit in the league. I would think it would be a lot harder telling someone we are keeping their money then just trying to quietly replace them. What if new owners just play for free? For example I send out an e-mail in July - We will have a new owner this season, the 1st 15 owners to send in their entry fee are in and the last one is replaced. Might be a good way to shake the tree every few years and quietly replace lethargic owners.

Taking over a team, can offer a discounted entrance fee. Hopefully everyone remaining would realize that though it may effect the prize fund for however long, you have to have a certain amount of people and getting someone in on a bad team is a tough sell.

As far as expansion, taking a 10 to a 12 team, any ideas? We discussed it and had thought of keeping a starting line-up and putting the rest in for an expansion draft and you could take a player off the board every time one of yours got taken...

I think the starting line-up thing is a good idea. A team might have to decide between an older veteran (Tom Brady,Peyton Manning etc.) or a young up and comer (Matt Stafford, Josh Freeman, Sam Bradford etc.) leaving a quality QB either way for an expansion team. In theory this would work for every position. It would also weaken the strongest teams promoting parity.

For an expansion draft (e.g., going from 10 teams to 12), I'd do something like: every owner gets to protect 3 players on their team. All of the other players start out as available in the expansion draft. But once one player from your team has been taken, you get to protect 3 more players. Once a second player of yours has been taken, you get to protect another 3 players. And so on.

Also, the new teams get the top picks in the rookie draft.

my main dynasty league is 13 years old. I have only had to wave the $150 fee one time for a replacement owner(he took over a terrible team), other times I only charged half for the first 2 years but the new owner had to pay for 2 years up front. I think you will be able to find replacement owners from this site if/when needed.
