Dynasty dart throws...De'Angelo Henderson vs. Chris Carson (1 Viewer)

Henderson and Carson are two end of the draft darts I'm trying to roster in my dynasty leagues.  Who else is everyone looking at?  Matt Breida, Tarik Cohen, Adam Shaheen, Erik Swoope, Kasen Williams are some more interesting names.

The local radio station here in Seattle can't stop talking about Chris Carson.  In their eyes, he is currently the best RB on the roster and been a stand out in training camp.  So, what is in front of him....Rawls (Can't seem to get healthy), Lacy (In better shape, but looks slow), and Prosise (Injury concerns as well, 3rd down back).  Carson should get a chance at some point this season.

Is this a dart throw thread (of which there are already a few) or is this a Henderson vs. Carson thread? If the latter, I'd say Henderson due to the fact that I think he's closer to seeing time than Carson (CJA seems to get injured every season and Booker should be easier to overcome than Rawls/Lacy/Prosise) and Carson's OL is garbage.

My initial reaction was Henderson by a wide gap, but (at least for 2017) perhaps the gap is not so wide.

Henderson may have a role in Denver's offense even if both Anderson and Booker are healthy.  Henderson's role as a speed back could tumble, however, if Charles proves he has something left to offer.  In any event, I think it would take at least a CJ Anderson injury for Henderson to become fantasy relevant as anything more than a very deep bye week cover, and even then, he may share time with Booker.  It may take injuries to both Anderson and Booker (and Charles not returning to form) for Henderson to have any significant impact for this season.  As a dynasty stash, however, I am all in on Henderson.

Like Henderson, Carson has a lot of bodies to leapfrog, and, despite how good he has looked so far in the preseason, I have my doubts Carson is going to usurp the power back role from both Rawls and Lacy.  Carson may need an injury to at least one of those two to have any role, and injuries to both to have a fantasy relevant role.  Prosise would continue to be a factor, further limiting any value.  I am not quite as bullish on Carson as a dynasty stash, but that is not to say he doesn't have some dynasty intrigue.

Both Henderson and Carson find themselves currently buried behind stables of talented but oft-injured backs, but we have seen how quickly that can change, especially at the RB position.  If I am grabbing just one (assuming equal investment), I want Henderson.  If either of them is going to become a season-changer, Henderson seems the more likely.  He has the skillset to become an every-down back, and he runs behind a superior O-line.

Tarik Cohen may be the most likely of that group of RBs to have weekly value for this season.

Erik Swoope could have weekly value at TE.

Shaheen is an excellent dynasty investment, but he is unlikely to make his mark this season.

I don't have a good feel for how the Niners may use Breida.

Kasen Williams has earned the right to be in this discussion, but if I rostered him, I would be prepared to cut ties quickly if he is not a factor in the regular season.

Pitched Carson to the Lacy owner for Henderson (as the CJA owner) and it was insta rejected.  And generally think most people are on board with DeH > CC.

Looks like Henderson will get at least 2 weeks to make his mark...

"Devontae Booker (wrist) is targeting a Week 3 return.

Booker returned to practice for the first time this week. He's made good progress from late July surgery, but won't be ready for the season opener. Booker is listed behind only C.J. Anderson on Denver's latest depth chart."

I personally prefer Carson.  I think these trades, player for player are hard to make.  I think the other player takes the position that since you want his player, then you need to pay.  I think the negotiation process is a roadblock.

Normally I agree.  But in the case where both backs are relatively even in value and a guy is rejecting the one that would give him insurance on a back he already owns, I think he genuinely values Henderson over Carson.

Honestly this comes down to which one you own probably.  Like someone mentioned trying to trade one for the other straight up tips your hand that you like player x over player z so why bother? That goes for anything straight up.  Unbiased opinion since I own both, I'm more ready for contribution from Carson.  The stable of RBs there plus none are THAT good leaves opportunity.  I think Henderson is more 3rd down role which limits him a bit, at least while Anderson is there.

Looks like it is going to take more than an end of the draft dart for both Henderson and Carson.  Carson is looking good running with the 1's tonight.  Splitting time with Lacy.  Both Rawls and Prosise are sitting out tonight's game so I don't know how much to read into this....but he looks good early.

Both look great, but Carson has more veterans to beat out than Henderson, which made me take Henderson in my FA draft.  Carroll isn't scared to throw a later round pick in right away though....I mean Russell Wilson.

I'd say Henderson. Seattle is likely to draft 3 or more RB's again next year. Both have a good chance of getting playing time this year even without injuries to the oft-injured guys ahead of them.

FWIW...reoffered Carson to Lacy owner for Henderson after last night.  Felt like I was paying premium for CJA insurance (to the point where I wasn't sure I still want to do it) but still no dice.
