For those of us in larger dynasty leagues, I wanted to start a discussion about some of the deeper QB prospects and what their future may hold. I'm mainly talking about young, 3rd string QBs. Most guys never saw the field this season, so homer opinions from practices or whatever would be helpful.
Ryan Fitzpatrick - STL - I know that he was more of a Martz favorite, but is he still in line behind Bulger? I can understand them keeping Frerotte around as the immediate backup, but is Fitz still thought of as the eventual Bulger successor?
Ingle Martin - GB - Seems like Rodgers will get first crack at replacing Favre, but he may not shine and got hurt in his lone action this season. Is Martin far enough along to compete with Rodgers for the #2/#1 spot next year, or do they draft someone or bring in a vet?
Don Orlovsky - DET - Neither Kitna nor McCown are that old, so Orlovsky is in the right age frame, but the Lions may draft a QB. And with the GM position possibly turning over in the next year or two, this is a tough call. But I was reading an old Blogger entry about Orlovsky battling McCown right to the finish of Preseason for the #2 this past season.
Kyle Orton - CHI - Didn't look that great fantasy-wise last year, but the team did win. Grossman and Griese haven't been that consistent. Does he have a shot down the road?
Quinn Gray - JAX - Looked real good in week 17. Is Leftwich gone there? Is Garrard good enough to hold down the #1 long term?
Brodie Croyle - KC - Green is starting to look old and although Huard looked pretty good in his play this season, he's no spring chicken either. Is Croyle the future? Or are they likely to start over with another young QB prospect?
Feel free to comment on these or add your own.
