Dynasty: How soon to draft IDPs? (1 Viewer)

Im new to Dynasty leagues and I took over a franchise for a deadbeat owner. We play 3 IDPs (DL, LB, DB) and I currently have Jason Taylor so Im pretty well set at DL.

The league is transitioning to Dynasty and we are keeping 11 players so I have no LB and DB at this point. There are some very good players available like Lofa Tatupu, Gibril Wilson, Ed Reed and Mike Patterson and it seems like there are more good IDPs than offensive position players.

I was wondering how long you guys wait to draft dynasty IDPs?

Scoring for Defensive Categories:

ATK - Assisted Tackles (ID only) .5 points

BFTD - Blocked Field Goal Touchdown (ID/ST/DST) 6 points

DFR - Defensive/ST Fumble Recovered (ID/DT/DST) 3 points

DFRTD - Defensive Fumble Recovery TD (ID/DT/DST) 6 points

DFTD - Defensive TD 0 points

Int - Interceptions 3 points

IntTD - Interception TD 6 points

KRYd - Kick Return Yards (ID/ST/DST) 0+ KRYds = 1 point for every 35 KRYds

PRYd - Punt Return Yards (ID/ST/DST) 0+ PRYds = 1 point for every 35 PRYds

SACK - Sack 3 points

STTD - Special Teams TD 6 points

STY - Safety 2 points

TK - Tackle (ID/DT/DST) 1 point

I suggest asking in the IDP forum.

My sig has Zealots ADP info that should be useful.

In general, I tend to wait a bit on IDPs - usually I'll pick one before the 10th round, then start loading up in the 11th or so.

Simplifying things, I suggest only drafting DEs, SSs, and MLBs/WLBs. Don't draft any DLs or LBs from a 3-4.

Oops - go ahead and draft ILBs from 3-4s.

The longer you wait to draft defense the better. 10th rounfd at the earliest. let everyone else waste picks on defense and load up on offense which is way harder to get off the waiver wire.
