Dynasty - Include HC or not (1 Viewer)

I'm starting a Dynasty league this year and I was looking to get some insight as to what others thought about including a Head Coach (HC) as a roster spot.

How others have scored them when they win. Thinking 3 points for a win.

This will be a perfomance league with .5 per rec. if that matters.

:blackdot: very interesting idea.......

I like the idea but if you hosted the league on an internet site you'd have to find a site that would support that, or do it manually all season.

Always liked the idea, but never have had it in any of my leagues.3 or 5 points for a win & zero for a loss is what I've seen with most that have used it.

I know RTsports will support this. thinking about running with them.

I've done that (with 3 points for a win) in playoff leagues.

It is an interesting wrinkle.

Maybe even add a point if he wins a challenge?

We had it in my first league where a win would give your coach 3 points. We had to dropped it when we moved the league to Sportsline. That was the best thing to come of the move IMO. I always considered myself the coach of my fantasy team.

I played in a league for years that incorporated a coach.

You got 5 wins if the coach's team won that week.

It was OK, but I don't miss it one bit.

We're trying it out in a first year Dynasty on Rtsports this season ... 6 points for a win ... seem's kinda excessive but them's the rules for this year

:football:

I play with that rule too. 3 points if your coach wins. It's a fun wrinkle.

You do have to manually override scoring to add those points if your league is online, however. I'd like to see some league-hosting sites add this as an option (as well as homefield).

Sorry, but I really don't get this one  - I don't see it adding anything

You are going to then try and pick not the best coach, but the coach that you think is going to win the most games this year? Why not just pick teams and you get one point for each W they get?

Dynasty League: 5 points for a win, zero for a loss (1 for a tie).

We've had it in our league for the full 13 years. I feel that the coach (along with the fact that we use an OL) makes you field a complete team. Rosters are large (IDP, 65-man rosters), so you have the room to carry two C's and two OL's for matchup purposes.

So I vote "go for it", it can't hurt.

Does the waiver wire work the same way as it does with players. Do you have 1 or 2 roster spots for the coach? Whoever the 49ers play each week would seem like some free points. Obviously some of the guys like Holmgren would be owned, but it seems kind of like a cheap free points. Kind of like getting two points for writing your name on an exam.

This gives me an interesting thought. What if you added a few points to your players you start that win a game?

It may dictate your lineups more than you think. You can't just run Fitz and Boldin out there for WR without thinking of a WR2-level receiver who might get a victory.

Just a thought.

Honestly, I think you'd still stick to the "always start your stud" theory if it comes down to Boldin, and say, Deion Branch or Santana Moss. If you make the "W" worth enough to bring a WR2 up to a WR1's level, then you are making the "W" worth too much. This certainly would help when deciding between SA and LT, or Hines and Driver if drafting, though.

MFL supports this type of scoring.
I'm in 3 MFL leagues, have HC's in 2. Frankly, I don't care for them. Won't complain, in some ways it's cool to just cheer for the team instead of yelling at the QB to throw to YOUR guy or hand it off to your RB, but overall, it's not a great feature.

:goodposting: I'd rather just have an NFL pool.

nah

another thought = let the league owners vote on it. that way they feel as if they kinda created the league along with u...
