I'm not talking about the coach. I'm talking about Ray Graham, the starter last year....Shell thought the starting gig should have been handed to him. Walked around entitled, was a cancer, didnt work and acted like a baby when anyone questioned him or critizised him. The coaches had enough of him. This has almost nothing to do with him not wanting to play for Pitt. Pitt threw him out on his ###, I don't care what reports you read.Xue said:Uh...You have the wrong Graham in mind. Head coach Todd Graham left Pitt after one year for Arizona State and Shell wanted to follow suit. Graham had recruited Shell before leaving. If a guy doesn't want to play for a certain program, is it really his fault?I'd stay away from this guy, far away.Just to provide inside to the comment...Former Pitt RB Rushel Shell to UCLA: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/college-football/story/_/id/9176831/rushel-shell-transfer-ucla-bruins-pitt-panthers-reports-say
I have connections close to the Pitt program and long story short he is this. Once Graham was headed to the draft Shell became a major problem for the coaches and team. He had a sense of entitlement, was uncoachable and basically walked off the team because the coaches tried to provide him with criticism. The coaches were so put off by him they blocked him from any ACC team, not surprising as they will now play there. Worse yet, they deliberately blocked him from his top 2 choices for transfer, I believe they were Arz and ASU. They did this to intentionally spit him from what I was told, he was that much of a problem. Hence he is at UCLA. He's got talent, but doesn't seem to have the work ethic or discipline to make it in the NFL.
You're missing the point. I hope he does turn out to be a good player and prospect. Not many coming from my home area of western Pa anymore. I just don't hear anything good about this kid from anyone I know and some of those people are very close to the Pitt program. Take the information anyway you want, though.Who recruited him? Wouldn't you want to play for the person who recruited you? Football is a team sport, but at the end of the day, you still have to put yourself first. When you're in your 40's and can barely walk, your teammates aren't gonna be there for you. If they blocked him from Arizona State, that's not just backlash toward Shell, that's toward Todd Graham as well. Arian Foster's coaches at Tennessee didn't like him either. I think he turned out fine.
Sounds like he'll be playing at Eastern Alabama Tech next season.
I doubt it. He's just gonna get suspended a game or two. It's not guns or drugs.Sounds like he'll be playing at Eastern Alabama Tech next season.
What's with these SEC RBs and character problems? Bryce Brown, Mike Dyer, Isaiah Crowell, and now Jeremy Hill. It's an annual tradition at this point.
Henry is recovering from a broken fibula, as we speak, plus it's not a foregone conclusion he could switch positions in his tenure at Bama and Scarbrough is still entertaining other schools.By the time he enters the draft, TJ Yeldon will eventually be the 3rd best RB on his own team behind 2013 recruit Derrick Henry and 2014 recruit Bo Scarbrough.
Given Henry's makeup it may make sense for him to switch positions, RB isn't the most financially lucrative position. Regardless of what position he ends up he has my attention.By the time he enters the draft, TJ Yeldon will eventually be the 3rd best RB on his own team behind 2013 recruit Derrick Henry and 2014 recruit Bo Scarbrough.

Riecht said that Gurley was close to 240 last season, glad my intuition was correct.I'm very confused about the roster listing of two freshman RB's for Georgia that are good prospects.Todd Gurley 6'1 218Keith Marshall 5'11 216Yes 2 inch difference, but it looks like a 30 lb difference in pads.Am I wrong here?
That guy looked promising but I guess he simply got bypassed by the next train coming 5 minutes later after his knee injury.Dee Hart top 10 RB recruit to Alabama a couple year back, practiced this spring at CB. Which will open up room for Yeldon/whomever at RB.
Yep, those programs are just loaded. It's what happens at LSU, they hurt each others total numbers because they use a bunch. That guy looked promising but I guess he simply got bypassed by the next train coming 5 minutes later after his knee injury.Dee Hart top 10 RB recruit to Alabama a couple year back, practiced this spring at CB. Guys like this interest me because they play in programs where there is so much talent being stacked that there is no incentive to ever rush them back or give them another chance but IF they make it to the NFL, they might have a chance to re-emerge. I think Bryce Brown kind of found himself in that no man's land too but then showed some great potential last year.
Texas sophomore WR Kendall Sanders has been suspended for the opening game of the season.
The suspension comes straight from head coach Mack Brown. Sanders was charged with a DUI back in April and had an opportunity to battle for the starting position prior to the arrest. He will be eligible to play in the Longhorns' week two game against BYU.

Texas sophomore WR Cayleb Jones has been suspended for the first game of the season.
The suspension was handed down by head coach Mack Brown and is a result of an offseason charge of felony assault. That felony charge was later reduced. The Longhorns face New Mexico State during the first week of the season, but Jones should be eligible for the second game against BYU.

While evaluating Georgia senior QB Aaron Murray, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah tweeted that it is easy to notice sophomore RB Todd Gurley.
Jeremiah notes Gurley has a very powerful upper and lower body and is excellent at pulling through tackles. Gurley is part of Georgia's two headed monster at running back and, along with Keith Marshall, the team could rely more on the ground game in 2013.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah believes UCLA redshirt sophomore QB Brett Hundley has "unlimited potential."
Jeremiah starting by listing Hundley's positives, calling attention to the quarterback's "frame, touch, velocity and agility." However, the yound signal caller does have some things to work on, including holding the ball too long and forcing passes into coverage. We expect a big jump from Hundley this season.

Australian rugby player Peni Tagive has earned a scholarship to join the Baylor football team.
Tagive, who is from New South Wales, is listed at 6'4/218 pounds. He is already 24 years old and recently decided to retire for rugby to focus on his studies. Tagive reportedly once clocked 6.79 seconds on a 60 meter run, which is a ridiculous time. "They were initially thinking I could be a running back because of my rugby league background but I am a bit taller so they're thinking linebacker or wide receiver," Tagive said of the Baylor coaching staff. "They think I could probably play a bit of defence and offence." It appears this fall will be Tagive's first semester with the Bears.

Georgia sophomore RB Todd Gurley is listed at 232 pounds this season, almost 40 pounds heavier than his listed weight of 195 prior to 2012.
We doubt Gurley played around 195 pounds in 2012 since he ran much larger, but we are equally as skeptical that he currently checks in at 232. Regardless, expect the Bulldogs to once again rely on their running game as the focal point of their offense.

Former Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh compared high school QB commit Keller Chryst to Andrew Luck.
That is some high praise. "Honestly, he reminds me of what Andrew Luck looked like when Andrew was his age in school," Harbaugh said. "They look very similar in how they play the game, their physical tools and skills. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb saying that." If Chryst can accomplish some of what Andrew Luck did with the Cardinal offense he should be able to contribute early on.

LSU sophomore RB Jeremy Hill will likely face some kind of a suspension, but not a long term one.
"As for Hill, I've been hearing that there will likely be a suspension, though not necessarily a long-term suspension," Gary Laney of ESPN wrote. "But there has been nothing official." Hill rushed for 755 yards and 12 touchdowns on 142 attempts in a backfield which featured three runners. When available, he will likely be the focal point of the Tigers' offense.

Arizona State redshirt sophomore WR Jaelen Strong has not been academically cleared for the 2013 season.
Strong is a junior college transfer, so he, defensive back Damarious Randall and linebacker Eriquel Florence reportedly still have work to complete. Taylor Kelly, the Sun Devils' quarterback, will likely have an NFL future.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah calls Alabama sophomore RB T.J. Yeldon a "big upgrade" over Eddie Lacy.
"He's loose, explosive and has natural vision/instincts," Jeremiah tweeted. The Crimson Tide's one-two punch demolished many defenses last year and we expect much of the same in 2013 from Yeldon despite losing plenty of offensive line talent. Alabama could open up the passing game a bit more to A.J. McCarron, but Yeldon also showed plenty of success as a receiver in screen situations.

Alabama sophomore WR Amari Cooper is a very clean route runner, according to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.
"Cooper can find another gear when the ball is in the air," Jeremiah tweeted. The evaluator then went on to work down the list of critical factors, "Explosive release-check, efficient route runner-check, high point the ball-check, elusive/physical after the catch-check." Cooper is known for his vertical ability, and we wonder what his game would be like with a true downfield passer.

Former Auburn junior RB Michael Dyer suggested he would be willing to walk on at Arkansas.
"If Arkansas said I could walk on, I’d go walk on at Arkansas," Dyer told USA Today. The running back is a native of the state, and the fit couldn't be better since new head coach Bret Bielema focuses on a power running scheme. George Schroeder of USA Today cites sources close to Arkansas who say the school might not be totally receptive to the idea of adding the troubled running back. Dyer has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Report: LSU RB Jeremy Hill charged with simple batteryI doubt it.
LSU running back Jeremy Hill was charged with simple battery on Monday by the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office in connection with a bar fight that took place on April 27, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.
Hill will enter his plea during his arraignment on Friday. In the meantime, the rising sophomore remains under indefinite suspension courtesy of LSU coach Les Miles, who plans to let the legal process run its course before taking any further action.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Hill came on strong in 2012 during the last half of his freshman season, leading the Tigers with 755 yards and 12 touchdowns. His physical, downhill running style keyed hard-fought LSU wins over South Carolina and Texas A&M.
If Hill can't play this fall, LSU won't be without considerable talent to replace him. Second-leading rusher Kenny Hilliard might be more physically gifted than Hill and has the potential to be a star for the Tigers if given the opportunity (and provided he has the right mental focus).
Also available is Alfred Blue, who started with two straight 100-yard games last fall before a knee injury ended his season.
Bryan Lazare of Rivals writes "Don't expect (LSU head coach Les) Miles to make any decision in the next few weeks," on sophomore RB Jeremy Hill.
"It would be surprising if Miles makes any statement prior to Hill's next court hearing in mid-August," Lazare added. "Look for Miles to levy some type of punishment after that August 16 court appearance. In all probability, Hill will be suspended until Aug. 16. That fact virtually rules Hill out of the opener against TCU whether or not Miles issues some type of definite suspension."

NFL Network's Bucky Brooks calls Oregon redshirt sophomore QB Marcus Mariota a "super smooth passer."
Mariota has "efficient mechanics (with) good arm strength," Brooks added. "Nice touch. Love ball placement/accuracy." Mariota had a great performance during his first season as the Ducks' starter, and we expect him to only improve in 2013. Oregon could focus on the passing game more with Chip Kelly gone.

LSU head coach Les Miles noted sophomore RB Jeremy Hill remains indefinitely suspended.
Miles adds Hill "has been separated from his teammates this summer." The running back recently pleaded guilty to his misdemeanor battery charge, which violated his probation. LSU beat writers expect the suspension to last a game or two into the season.

Former LSU athletic director Jacques Doucet doubts sophomore RB Jeremy Hill will be back on the football team.
Doucet added it was just his opinion, but it might be a telling sentiment for the entire department. Hill's August 16th court appearance will be telling in terms of his future with the program, but the video evidence certainly doesn't look good.

Clemson receivers coach Jeff Scott compared freshman WR Mike Williams to first-round pick DeAndre Hopkins.
"They're definitely similar in their ball skills and their ability to go attack the ball in the air," said Scott. "Both of them are also very good basketball players. Their body styles are different, in that Mike is a little bit taller, whereas Nuk was more of a point guard-type in basketball. But as far as attacking the ball and the ability to use your body to kind of box out, they're very similar." Clemson needs to find an offensive weapon across from Sammy Watkins, and Williams could emerge thanks to that high-pointing ability.

Oregon redshirt sophomore QB Marcus Mariota has gained 12 pounds since last season.
Mariota now weighs 217, which is 27 more than he checked in at when first arriving at Oregon. Many point to Brett Hundley as a possible redshirt sophomore to breakout this season, but don't sleep on Mariota. Some will make the comparisons to Colin Kaepernick, which will intrigue evaluators.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah named Georgia sophomore RB Todd Gurley one of college football's five most physical players.
"Gurley has enormous size and is an extremely violent running back," Jeremiah writes. "His size, combined with his excellent speed, pad level and leg drive allow him to plow through tacklers on a consistent basis. The scary thing is, he was only a freshman in 2012 and figures to get much stronger and even more physical in 2013." Gurley was listed at 232 pounds last month, almost 40 pounds heavier than his listed weight of 195 prior to 2012. He's going to have a monster 2013 campaign.

Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama -- No surprise here. One of the elite receivers in the league torched the Alabama secondary in the Crimson Tide's first fall scrimmage to the tune of four catches for 182 yards and three touchdowns. In four offseason scrimmages, including three in the spring, Cooper has been credited with 17 catches, 431 receiving yards and eight TDs.

Two Alabama players topped Scouts Inc.'s list of the best true sophomores in the country, WR Amari Cooper and RB T.J. Yeldon.
Cooper is number one, with Yeldon just behind him. It is "Cooper's route running that sets him apart on tape; he shows savvy beyond his years in this department, a big reason why he already is one of the premier receivers in the country," Steve Muench and Kevin Weidl wrote. The two evaluators add Yeldon could improve his ball security. Both will be pivotal pieces in the Crimson Tide's season.
