Dynasty Offseason calendars (1 Viewer)

Hey all you dynasty league commissioners out there, 

would anyone be willing to give me some info on off-season calendars/important dates that you use for your leagues? 

My first season as dynasty league commissioner just finished and I'm still pretty new to the whole dynasty league team as it is, so any help would be amazing!

Rookie draft sometime in week after NFL draft; declare keepers a week or so bf season starts

In the league I started over 15 years ago, trading opens up again after our Super Bowl in week 16. Next thing is the entry fee deadline March 1 (one year in advance). Next is our rookie draft which starts the Monday after the NFL draft. Next is what we call free agency where there's a waiver run right before training camps start (reverse order of previous season's standings like rookie draft). Next is the cutdown to the roster limit (in our case 24 from a max of 30) the Monday after the last preseason game. Last thing is preseason waivers/FA right before the regular seasons starts.

We've made changes to the league, but we've stuck with this offseason system from the start & it works well.

We're a bit more conservative in our Keep 12 leagues...

- trades reopen on Jan 1st

- free agency reopens after NFL Super Bowl

- when NFL draft starts: roster "lockdown", no free agent moves at all, only trades of picks or players ( so not really a total lockdown)

- 2 weeks before NFL week 1: cut down to 12 players

- 1 week before NFL season starts: rookie/free agent draft

Our timetable is more tentative in our 32 team (each player available 2x) league. 

First, see who is returning and how many teams need to be replaced.  Usually this is complete around the first week or two after the season. 

Second, replace the owners and have a dispersal draft. 

Third, after all owners are in place, open trading for teams who have paid. 

Rookie draft starts in late May. 7 rounds. 

8th round / supplemental draft in early-mid August.

Cut down to 45 player rosters plus 5 on the taxi squad by kickoff week 1.

No waivers during the off season, but you can draft Veterans during the rookie draft (usually a handful go).

Get 51% of owners to agree with payouts, then pay winners through leaguesafe.com. 

Open up 2017 league with leaguesafe.

Limit operations until myfantasyleague.com opens up their 2017 sites (usually right after NFL Super Bowl).

Transfer 2017 league info from 2016 league mfl.

Open up trading to all owners that have paid in full. Also, run blind bidding waivers once a month for those that are paid up (aka give incentive for paying earlier than later). 

Replace any owners leaving.

Start rookie/free agent draft last day of NFL Draft (everyone is excited about football, wives are already pissed about NFL Draft watching, etc.).
