At this point do you want a certain starter who will probably be in the top 12 for the next 5-10 years?

If so, take Ben.

Ryan could be great, no reason to think he won't be, but we have seen 1 year wonders before.

Romo just lost TO - maybe that's good, but I don't know that I trust him to perform at a high level in the future.

Its close at this point between Romo, Ben, and Ryan.

I'm dropping Romo a bit for the lost of TO. I also think Ben is a much better NFL QB than fantasy QB. Losing Ward in the next few years doesn't give me a great feeling for Ben in the near future.

One the other hand Ryan played remarkable for a rookie and should only improve. His number 1 target is still young and may still get better. He has the Dome factor for late in the seasons at well. If ATL can add another weapon at TE or WR...Look out.

Voting for Ryan due to the youth and potential.

You know, thinking about this for a minute... if I had a quality 2nd QB, I'd probably trade Ben for Ryan. Somehow I'd still draft Ben first though.

Palmer is a great QB but we don't know how he will come back from injury.

Ryan had a great rookie year, but it was a rookie year. I remember not too many years ago when all the talk was about Young. Yeah...

Big Ben is the safest bet here and the truth is that he is capable of putting up as big of numbers as any QB but his offense doesn't really facilitate that. Still, at this point I think I want a reliable QB rather than a guy who could be worthless by the end of the season.

Romo should have been in the 4/5 range. He won't have to force the ball to TO and with a reemphasize on the running game it should help his turnovers and benefit the style of play his OL does best. He's still got a lot of targets, 2 young elite TE's, Felix as a receiving option, and the up and coming Austin.

So a guy who's been in the top 12 once in 5 years is going to be in the top 12 the next 5-10 years?

:goodposting: He's been top 12 more than that in my leagues.ETA: and even if he hadn't, yes.

At pfr, which uses standard scoring, his rankings are: 20, 17, 15, 4, 18.Outside of one year, he doesn't throw many TDs (yes, he'll probably run for one or two TDs a year). He's only been top 10 in passing yards once.I said last offseason that people were overrating Ben in fantasy based on his one big year. It was an anomaly. Their RBs only had 7 rushing TDs in 2007. That's going to be rare for them. He's on a team with a philosophy that isn't good for fantasy QBs. Fantasy-wise, he's Troy Aikman with a touch of running.I do agree he's a safe pick. He's not going to be out of the league or a backup in another city in three years. I just wouldn't bet on top 12 more than two or three times the next five years. And, I wouldn't bet on top 5 more than once the next 10 years.I'd take Palmer, Romo, Cassell, and Ryan over Ben.

When you have to highlight TEs, RBs, and a WR with 18 career catches, it's not good. Of course, Austin may turn out to be a really good receiver. If so, I think Romo can continue to put up really good numbers. But, we shouldn't pretend that losing TO is a good thing for fantasy production.

Obviously I am a big Cowboys fan. I still had to vote for Mat Ryan for two glaring reason. 5 years younger and the fact Dallas will not be slinging it around like they have the last 3 years. Romo's number will take a hit but he will be a better football player because of it. Not as good of a fantasy player. While M.Ryan and the Falcons I believe the sky is the limit for this team offensively in the next 3 seasons.

Romo is not really an option for me here.... I don't see him doing that much especially without TO. Roy W is always hurt. Then there's Big Ben, who I like, but he's a better NFL QB than Fantasy QB, and Ward won't be around forever. Needless to say, Pitt will always be about defense and running the ball as a priority, so that leaves Matt Ryan or Schaub for me... and I went with Schaub despite the age difference. Ryan will have Turner for a while and will lead to more of a running team in my opinion. Of course Ryan will have big games passing as well, but so will Schaub. At the moment, Schaub has AJ, Walters, Owen Daniels, and a very nice receiving RB in Slaton. I'll take Schaub. Houston's defense is getting better, but still has a little ways to go, so the games should have some decent scoring.

How can anyone take Ben this high. He's a 3200 yard 17 TD QB.
Ya I dont understand the Ben love in FF terms. Outside of the one year he had 32 td's his other years have been 17,17,18,17 and around 3000-3300 yards.
