These are consensus dynasty rankings for year 2007 standard FBGs scoring no PPR

If you vote other, please specify.

Also, please comment on your vote, and list any player that should be nominated for the next round.

gheemony made a great point about one way to consider dynasty value for players in rankings by giving 50% value to 2007, 33% to 2008, and 17% to 2009. I know there are many ways to look at this and how hard it is to project for players even for one year. But I think it is significant enough that its worth mentioning. I am sure everyone has a different formula that they might use. But this one to me has some good balance and makes a lot of sense. And honestly probobly should be a topic of discussion in itself but thats another thread. For now just somthing to take into consideration.

Link to poll #6 http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=292938

1. Antonio Gates

2. Kellen Winslow

3. Todd Heap

4. Jeremy Shockey

5. Alge Crumpler

6. Ben Watson

The 49ers took Davis 5th/6th? for a reason. You've got to think his fantasy upside is huge.

You can't just go on where people have selected a TE or WT or any other position.

I wouldn't draft Vernon Davis over Jason Witten in any kind of a league and probably not Tony Gonzalez either.

Someone please explain to me why Tony Gonzalez isn't top 3-5 in your dynasty rankings because I really don't understand where you're coming from if you are voting

3. Todd Heap

4. Jeremy Shockey

5. Alge Crumpler

6. Ben Watson

and now Vernon Davis ?!? :yucky: ahead of the most prolific tightend the NFL has ever known.

Maybe people don't realize that he is currently the #1 TE in 2006 (although Gates is running neck and neck with him through 13 weeks).

I understand that he is 30 years old and that is anathema to FF dynasty rankings, and if we were talking about a RB, I might knock a 30 year old star down a few notches as well. However, TE is a postion where a player can maintain top flight production into his 30s.

Maybe people are worried about injuries, but Gonzalez remains in terrific shape and is a great athlete who takes good care of himself. You would have to go back to 1999 just to find the last time he missed one game. Heck if you're really worried about injuries then Shockey and Heap who regularly appear on the injury report shouldn't have been taken ahead of him. Heap is listed as questionable more often than not and Shockey for that matter has never played a complete 16 game schedule!

Maybe you are concerned because in 2005, for the first time since 1998, Tony Gonzalez failed to finish either #1 or #2 in fantasy scoring by a TE. Never mind that he was asked to stay in to block more because of injuries to the offensive line last year, or that LJ was setting a record for TDs, which led to the fewest scoring opportunities of Gonzalez career. Even so Tony still managed to finish top 7 fantasy pts. by a TE last year and still was the # 2 TE in receiving yards, despite tying the lowest TD output of his entire career with only two TDs in '05. IMHO 2005 was clearly the anomaly folks and while it would have been a terrific season for any TE not named Gates or Gonzalez, this was a serious down year for Tony G.

How Tony Gonzalez can still be 'on the board' is beyond me

I am with you. Tony Gonzales should be at the top of the board - How can he fall out of the top 2 or 3 is beyond me.

"The Raiders took Ricky Dudley 9th for a reason""The Jets took Kyle Brady 9th for a reason"The reason is that the teams were being run by morons, just like the current Niners.

And these same people will vote Shaun Alexander at number 4 despite Shaun's age. Be entertained by it and take advantage in your drafts. Dont let it bother you.

Couldn't agree more with regards to Gonzo. Shannon Sharpe had a very productive season at 35. Gonzo could easily put up 3-4 more top 3 seasons. Gonzo should be no lower than 4th on this list, and an argument could be made that he should be 2nd.

Results:

Tony Gonzalez [ 42 ] ** [51.85%]

Vernon Davis [ 20 ] ** [24.69%]

Jason Witten [ 7 ] ** [8.64%]

Chris Cooley [ 8 ] ** [9.88%]

Heath Miller [ 2 ] ** [2.47%]

L J Smith [ 2 ] ** [2.47%]

Gonzo wins, Davis gets the next spot.
