DYNASTY: Trading For Injured RB#1's (1 Viewer)

With the wrath of injuries to #1 RB's this year, what is everyone's feeling about trading for the likes of injured #1 RB's - guys out for the year (Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, etc.) and trading away a healthy or even situational RB#2 (MJD, Deshaun Foster)

Nothing is guaranteed that these #1's will come back healthy, but is the risk worth the reward?

Depends on situation, but it is always in someones best interest to trade for a guy on a "low". I did however trade Caddy yesterday for David Harris and a 2nd round rookie pick.I was just tired of waiting for him to be good.

From what I can tell in a dynasty leagues, people holding injured RB#1's have not altered their perception of the value of those RB's are are no more likely to trade them now than before the injuries.

unless they are in a must win week and need points.

I traded norwood for Javon Walker and Chatman for Ronnie Brown.

If you are in a play for next year situation I think it's a good strategy. Also if the owner with the injured stud is in a win now or one player away from being in the running and a lot of times you can get a player at a little less than what you normally might. For instance in one league the Brown owner has a great team except at QB. He traded Brown for Kitna and a 2nd round rookie pick. I find that the longer they sit on a roster doing nothing the more they are willing to trade, the other side is that if you wait until they can see the light at the end of the tunnel they might not trade at all. So it is a fine line but a fun game to play.

I have put in offers for both Caddy and Brown in a couple of leagues. I imagine the Caddy owner will be much more likely to trade now than the Brown owner. In a few more weeks I bet the Brown owner might bite too.

I did the same thing this past off season with Portis. Targeted him in 2 dynasty leagues and got him. Gave up Colston in one league and Holt in another. I will be trying to get Brown next off season.

Will Caddy play next year? I remember hearing the injury might be career threatening, but i honestly didn't pay close attention as I didn't own him.

He is on my waivers though.... I could grab him if he was going to have a shot at playing again.

This is my thinking also. I can further tie in both your points and say sometimes its better to rid yourself of the RB#2 "waiting to be good" and gamble on greatness getting an injured RB#1.

:hot: This is the right move. Right before the season starts, you'll see a TON of "Can Ronnie handle it?" and "Caddy = total bust" posts from the naysayers. If you believe he'll be back, start using these threads as evidence and lower his value. At least with Ronnie, the sheen of his super-stud performance is likely still in his owner's head, so you need to wait until that wears off.

After the season is best. Some teams will need help now but R Browns production is still in his mind. After the season when he is looking to next season, he may not be all that confident in Brown. He will still like him now because he is grieving his loss.

I usually tend to wait until after the NFL draft to target a player coming off an injury in dynasty. That way I can see how serious the player's team views the injury and if they prioritized drafting a potential replacement.

well my team is 7-1 and i just traded caddy and r brown for marion barber, i need a healthy 2nd back if i have a chance to win this yr.
