The Shark Pool dynasty rankings have become a part of the offseason here at FBG. I think this always results in good debate and the sharing of information/opinions.

It seems that over the past couple of years, many leagues/owners have gone from an emphasis on RB and more towards WRs. This could be due to more PPR leagues, or many other reasons. This is why I have chose to start with WRs this year.

For ranking purposes, I am assuming PPR.

If you vote other, please let me know who you would like added for the next poll.

I went with CJ in a close one over Fitz due to being 2 years younger and putting up huge numbers with horrible QB play. Warner is close to done or may be done and there is no guarantee that going forward Fitz will have any better QB play than CJ so I will go with the younger guy although it is very close. I would be happy with either to starty a dynasty ppr team.

Really of personal preference toss up between Andre, Fitz and CJ. Can't see how anyone else could be in the conversation. Fitz and CJ are a bit younger but Andre has the most stable situation.

I voted AJ but Fitz is hard to argue.

Since this is a Dynasty discussion, I was just offered Steven Jackson straight up for AJ and turned it down. PPR - Starting 1qb-1rb-2wr-1te, and a flex)

I agree with Jeter in that elite wide receivers seem to be worth more these days.

Agree that Fitz, AJ, and Calvin are the top three. Order dependent on preference. AJ has more stability with Fitz having an older QB in Warner and Calvin not even having a QB.

I own Fitz in a Keep three (no more than two at the same position) and have Fitz, ADP, Barber and McFadden (one of the RBs will have to go). You can only keep a player for four years, so I have to move Fitz by week 10 of this year, or lose him for nothing...honestly, besides CJ, I feel as though i would be on the losing end of a trade for a WR or QB (or TE). Fitz is it...young, motivated, and talented...not sure why there is even a discussion as I think he would put up equal or better numbers even if he were on the Lions...which he is not (which is the most important part of this debate).

I think it would be an interesting discussion to see how many WRs are expected to go in a dynasty start up draft. Most season would see 1 or maybe 2 go at the very end of the round. I expect a different outcome this year.

Maybe the series of polls to do would be in the form of a dynasty startup "Who would you take with the 1.01?" and have RBs, WRs, etc mixed together.

I say do both polls. Each position independently and one poll with all positions combined.By the way I would like to see guys like Roddy White, Jennings, Bowe added once we get to around 5. The first few are pretty obvious it seems based on results so far

The problem is PPR vs. NonPPR, completely changes value regarding RB's vs. WR's. I would consider several WR's in the first round of a PPR. NonPPR? Not so much.

 I would say even before 5 for White and Jennings. I'd prefer both of them in dynasty to Wayne, Boldin and Moss. Boldin spends too many weeks on my bench hurt, and Wayne is no more talented than Jennings or White, and is 4/3 years older than each respectively. You could make a solid argument for Moss over both, but Moss will be 33 next season. Odds are that he's probably got one or two more great seasons left tops.

Marques Colston deserves to be on this list. He's not top three, but I think you could make a solid arguement for top 5. Yeah he was hurt early this year and it showed, but once he healed up, he finished strong. He's only 25 and in the best passing offense in the league.

ETA: I voted Fitz

Good call on Colston. Forgot about him. I would add Braylon too as he was very good last year and is still young.

On pure talent alone, exclude QB/team play you have to go with Calvin. Fitz would be a close second.

That said, we are looking for the #1 dynasty WR in a PPR league. Short term, if situations don't change for next year Fitz would be my #1 then AJ.

But this is dynasty right, and you have to look long term, and to do that you need to take what information you have and come to a conclusion on how well these players will do over the next 4, 6, 8 years right.

To me AZ and HOU are moving in the right direction. AZ has the biggest ? at QB with Warner who is likely to move on. Few people think Leinart is the answer. I tend to agree but AZ can't stall now and I think they will have to bring in a solid replacement for Warner. I have no clue who it will be but they have trade bate in Boldin?

Boldin to Phily has been rumored a lot. I don't think Phily is ready to trade McNabb but who knows. NE seems due for a WR Could AZ get Cassel for him? AZ should look to get more for Boldin then draft pick IMO.

I would rank them;

Fitz

AJ

CJ

Do people really go that far out?I mean, I probably move my roster too much for a nomal dynasty owner, but 4-6-8 years?

Calvin and Fitz are close, but in the end they just put up nearly identical yards/TD numbers with Fitz having a future hall of fame quarterback and Calvin having a rotating door of hall of shame quarterbacks. As such, Calvin has a much higher upside. Who knows what he could be good for if he ever gets a good quarterback.

The main thing Fitz has on Calvin is that he's shown he can produce consistently and not just one year. Though to me, that's not really an issue with Calvin since there's no doubt about him being some one year wonder. It's much less of an advantage than it would be if we were comparing Fitz to someone like Greg Jennings.

FWIW, Fitz's numbers with quarterbacks not named Kurt Warner over the course of his career project out to around 1100yds and 8 TDs per season. I don't expect them to actually be that low, but there will likely be some bumps along the way when we start talking about quarterbacks like Leinart at the helm. We've already seen that Calvin's "bumps" are 1300/12, who knows what his upside is.

I'm in the minority who thinks CJ is #1 dynasty WR, and by quite some margin.
For me it's pretty much a wash. As a Fitz owner, I would not trade him for Calvin, but have no doubt that I would not trade Calvin for Fitz were my role reversed. Fitz proved this post season just how dominant he can be. Yes, he had Warner throwing to him but I believe he has the type of skill-set, ala Randy Moss, that will make any QB look good. All you have to do is throw the ball near him and it's a completion. And yes, Calvin has the same skill-set with more size, strength, and speed. But I do think Fitz has better ball skills.I'm salivating at what Fitz will do next season if Warner returns to Zona, just as I'd be salivating at what Calvin will do if Detroit lands a good QB.
