What do you guys think about E.J. Hendersen's chances to produce with the Vikings this year? Is he a solid prospect for dynasty leagues?

I was just offered Rodney harrison for him, and I need a DB. But I keep hearing Hendersen could produce big numbers so I am hesitant.

A 3-down WLB in the cover two ... should do real well, and has impressed in camp ...

I agree, though his dynasty value is a little more hazy. He's got Greenway looking over his shoulder the next few years(obviously not this year).

Rodney is up there in years - trying to come back from a bad injury. I think short term in either case I would go for Henderson - he apparently has the job sewn up in MN and Greenway has a ways to come back from injury and to learn the system. He wasn't going to have the starting job over Henderson before he got hurt (or so it appeared) so, I would think that Henderson is a safe bet for this season and possibly next - get him and then when his value goes way up you can always trade him for a more upside long term potential player.

I'd keep Henderson, or try to get someone more reliable in return. Regarding the long-term outlook, I'm getting more and more convinced that looking beyond 1-2 years in IDP is a mistake, even in dynasty leagues. There are some exceptions (young 3-down MLBs), but with all the scheme changes, team changes, injuries, and arrests, it's hard to think much beyond the coming season.

Agreed. As an illustration of how quickly things can change, I opted to drop two guys last year only to be stung by them out of the blue. They were DE's Bryan Thomas and Derrick Burgess. Thomas had been unimpressive for the Jets for several years and wasn't even entrenched as a starter; Burgess had washed out after several injury-plagued seasons in Philly and was in Oakland. Burgess had 16 sacks last year and Thomas now appears to be on the rise as a pass rusher under Mangini in NY. You just never know.

I drafted EJ as a rookie, with my first round, #4 rookie pick in 2003. Only to live through 2 out of 3 years of mild dissapointment, even from the middle slot he did not do very well in 2004,I gave up on him last November for a middle round draft pick. Now, as luck would have it, he is showing very strong in camp though he has done this in the past as well. I am going to be seriously crying and kicking myself if it was a matter of one more year of maturing as i felt he should have shown a little more (which is ironically the same with Dontarrious Thomas) during his initial years. **Observations**: In the games i watched, he wasnt a great tackler, but an decent one and could at least lay some lumber when he did hit. But, he really couldnt cover anyone and would get lost on third down. His biggest game was eight tackles and a late sack in a Monday Night Football appearance in 2004, he helped me win that game**The Bottom Line**: i think he is a good prospect now but he still needs to show he can really do what he did in college. .

Did he play last night? Nothing in the boxscore and DThomas has some numbers. Just curious.
Yes, but apparently not long ... his only stat was a QH ...
