Even more info about the unstoppable force, from Patriots.com:

Lewis, 29, is a veteran of six NFL seasons, all with the Eagles (2003-08). The 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver has played in 90 career games with 23 starts and has recorded 127 receptions for 1,699 yards (13.4 avg.) and seven touchdowns while also recording 41 special teams tackles. Lewis has appeared in nine playoff games and has caught nine passes for 180 yards (20.0 avg.) and a touchdown in those contests.Lewis was originally signed by the Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent from of the University of Illinois in the Spring of 2003. As a rookie, he played in 11 games and made 11 special teams tackles in addition to six receptions for 95 yards. In 2004, he played in all 16 regular-season games and recorded a career-high 15 special teams tackles while catching 17 passes for 183 yards. He emerged as a key contributor in the 2004 playoffs as the Eagles advanced to Super Bowl XXXIX against the Patriots, leading the team with 182 playoff receiving yards while catching eight passes. In the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XXXIX, he scored his first career touchdown, a 30-yard scoring pass from Donovan McNabb to cut the Patriots’ lead to 24-21. In 2005, he started every game for the Eagles and set career highs in receptions (48) and receiving yards (561). His 48 catches ranked third on the team in 2005. In 2006, he played in all 16 regular-season games with three starts and grabbed 24 passes for 348 yards and two touchdowns. He had a career high three touchdown receptions in 2007 while catching 13 passes for 265 yards. On Nov. 25, 2007 against the Patriots, Lewis caught a career-high two touchdown passes while recording a then-career best 88 receiving yards on four catches (all third-down conversions). Last season, Lewis played in every game for Philadelphia and caught 19 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown. He had his first career 100-yard receiving game (five catches for 104 yards) in the 2008 regular-season opener against St. Louis.
I predict Lewis is the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year at Cornerback. He and Belichick will make the cover of SI (Lewis will be holding up a sign that says "this guy knows stuff", with an arrow pointing at Belichick).

How a thread involving a guy that ranks in the 40s in terms of importance on a team's roster is pushing 3 pages is beyond me. Lewis is a bit player that will not have much impact on NE (and wouldn't have much impact in PHI either).
We (Philly fans) didn't like Lewis because he was a symbol of something that extremely frustrates us -- Andy Reid's roster management. He prefers to fill out the back end of the roster with guys he likes rather than guys that can perform. This led to people like Lewis and Reno Mahe being on the team for far longer than they deserved to be. He was also a focal point of one of Reid's worst decisions -- to open 2007 without a real punt returner. That was on Reid, not Lewis, but some fans give him grief for it anyway.

If the Patriots hadn't acquired Lewis, they could've been a bigger player for TO. :lmao:
In that case the Greg Lewis trade has already been worth it.I don't really think that Greg Lewis kept the Pats from making a move for TO.A three page thread about Greg Lewis, WOW! He should print this out, and put in in his scrapbook.

Can I get the OP to add a poll?

Which AFC East WR Acquisition is the bigger play?

A. TO to Buffalo

B. GL to New England

Lewis is gonna BLOW UP!!!

Mahe at least ld the NFL in something good once - punt return average, ironically. He wasn't explosive, but was dependable and would get you some decent yards.

The funny thing is that the Eagles got a fifth rounder for Greg Lewis, while the Cowboys got zilch for T.O.
Sometimes life is unfair and sucks--most of the time. But this makes me happy in at least a small way.Question: what will Philly WR depth chart look like? Will it be Curtis and DJax and then Brown?

Brown is buried on the depth chart. More like -- Curtis - DJax - Avant - Baskett - Brown.

I think Eagle fans are going to miss Greg Lewis next year. It wouldn't surpirse me Lewis replaces Wes Welker in the slot.

Lets get this thread to four pages!!!!!!!!!!

With Moss being doubled and Welker being doubled that leaves no one to cover G. Lewis

You can't stop G. Lewis, you can only hope to contain him :goodposting:

Greg Lewis is already listed as #2 WR on the depth chart.
Funny, they play so many meaningful games in March.
That's probably why he broke into the starting lineup.
I guess he can add "led former 3-time Super Bowl champion Patriots in receptions in the month of March 2009" to his bio now.

Can anyone confirm that Greg Lewis was the "Best man" at Tom Bradys wedding?

I find this extremely hard to believe.I hope New England signs another WR before preseason.I would like to see them bring in Miles Austin, Lance Moore, or Hank Baskettbut they are all RFAs.

This year they played as many meaningful games in March as in January. :goodposting:
Without the CBA, they may have just as many meaningful games in April and May next year.
