Eagles vs Vikings - Week 5 (1 Viewer)

Well, that's what happens when you let them slide down the field playing prevent.  When will teams learn?

Undraftted Wr.. first to have 5 straight 100 yard receiving games to start the season AND secures the onside kick.

Man that bobble almost gave us a shot. Oh well, hopefully they tighten up as Carson gets more games under his belt and maybe we learn to cover.

The defenseless receiver one I can see why they did it. He did hit him in the back of the head though. Can't be hitting guys like that.
It's the hypocrisy of the NFL that bugs me.  That was a weak hit to the helmet.  And compare it to what Sony Michell did on TNF to the DB where he lowered his head and slammed him.  The NFL wont make that call.  Ask 100 people which head collision they rather take and they are going to say the Ertz hit.   I just feel bad for defenders at this point. NFL cares more about keeping the "names" healthy than they do player safety.

:End rant:

Sorry, meant kick the FG, not go for it. I know it would have been a really long FG, but punting there is just not optimal.

Their punt was actually a great punt, but typically that is a touchback.
That's not usually a touchback.  Most punters can sky it from there for a fair catch.  I say it's 50/50 if we go for that kick.  A missed 58 yarder and its a sure loss.  Easy in hindsight to say that, but if we held them and minny punted, it would have been a great call.

After you posted, I wondered if going for it was worth it anyway, even if you could pick up like 15 yards with a theroretical chance to get the first down.

The problem was with the 3rd-down play call more than the 4th-down one. You need to decide what you're going to do on 4th before you call the 3rd-down play and Doug clearly hadn't.

If you know you're either going to go for it or kick the FG, there's no point in trying to throw to the sticks on 3rd. Yes, Jeffery almost reeled it in, but it was a low-percentage pass relatively speaking. Getting 10-12 yards there would leave you in much better position on 4th down whether your intent was to go for it or try a (now sub-50 yard) FG.

If you want to go for all 20 yards in one shot, fine, but you'd better be OK with punting if you come up empty on 3rd.
