Weather nerds on Reddit are saying there's bad news...outer wall is strengthening.

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS.

Weather nerds on Reddit are saying there's bad news...inner wall is strengthening.

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS.
Quick rundown: The inner wall is usually where the strongest winds are, because the storm spins around the center of the eye. Usually, the eastern side is the worst side to get hit by, but if the eye wall on the NW side is strengthening, that spells even more trouble for the coast.

My sister is in Orlando. She was hit hard by Charley, tree through a window, power out for a week. She's nervous but can't leave because she's a nurse and has to stay.

40 mph wind gust registered by my house, about 50 miles west of Space Coast. Rain not too bad, yet. The next few hours are when things start to pick up.   :scared:

Hope everyone else is hanging in. Be safe.

Stay safe out there. I remember staying glued to the NOAA site with no wind insurance (clerical mistake, fixed immediately after) and Hurricane Rita barreling towards my house watching into the wee hours until I got a call my house was good. Good luck to you all, hope you're safe and you're residences make it through.

Gonna jump in the car and drive around A1A. I'm hoping the beach erosion is not too bad.

Port Canaveral reporting a 4 foot storm surge right now...that is not good.

Barrier Islands on East Coast are going to experience their local rivers running TOWARDS the ocean...your WEST side is what you need to be concerned about if you are on the South West side of the storm.

938 mb...it ain't weakening even if the winds are a little less than 145 mph gusts. The Cape is getting pummeled right now.

I'm in east Orange County, about 50 miles due west of the space coast. Just finished final preparations.

Unfortunately, had a zombie house across the street from me that was just purchased. New owners pulled old couches, etc out and put em at the curb a week ago. Of course, the crap is still sitting there, and new owners nowhere to be found. Neighbors and I just moved all of it to their back yard. Thought about throwing it into the drained swimming pool, just to say "thanks, welcome to the neighborhood"

For those anywhere in the path, be safe.
that sucked. Good news is you are 50 miles in, you will survive.

They are calling for 10 to 12 foot storm surge for places like Jacksonville....this storm really hasn't caused a lot of damage thus far from Melbourne south to Miami

Wife claims it got nasty between 12 and 2 this morning.

I drove around and moved a few tree limbs off HWY 1...cop drove by asks me not to be in the street. Looks like stores are pushing to be open by Noon...everything was boarded up though.

Impact minimal here in Palm Beach IMO.

Beach erosion didn't look bad.

Just watched a helicopter fly over assessing damage along coast while broadcasting on TV. They have found virtually zero damage to any of the buildings along the coast.

Palm Beach is looking good as is Martin and on up to Port St Lucie all looking like minimal to no damage.

the Palm Beach Gardens Mall is open at Noon today.
