Ebola (1 Viewer)

Despite all the panic, nothing focuses people who can make a difference like having a well defined mission.
:goodposting:

This kind of thing has played out time and time again. Takes some time to get past the inertia in the beginning, getting the right people out of comfortable routines and fully immersed in the mission. But once that inertia is overcome, people routinely whip huge challenges.

Just read an article that quoted Obama as saying he hugged and kissed the nurses that were working on the Ebola patient that was in Atlanta. WTF?!? This is like a joke.
Obama's quote:

“I shook hands with, hugged and kissed not the doctors, but a couple of the nurses at Emory, because of the valiant work they did in treating one of the patients. They followed the protocols, they knew what they were doing, and I felt perfectly safe doing so,” said the president.
Keep in mind that the nurses he hugged/kissed were from Emory, which truly does have their schmidt together on "Ebola safety". The experiences of the staff at Texas Health Presbyterian should not be taken to be the typical, expected outcome of dealing with Ebola patients. It's not like you can bank on 20%, say, of the treatment staff getting Ebola every time.

good, I'll move his grade from a D to a D+
I'm not an Obama hater. So I don't want to come off sounding like someone who is just nitpicking. But if he really did this, he's an idiot.
I would hug a nurse at Emory who worked with Ebola patients, they deserve a hug.

I heard a great story on Neil Tyson Degreases radio show. IIRC, he was interviewing Buzz Aldrin (is he still alive?). Anyway the discussion was about how focused and sharp as an organization NASA was when they had the man to the moon mission compared to later years when they didn't have well defined missions. I think that is very common way we as a culture works, both at macro and micro levels.

I remember when the Space Shuttle Columbia exploded in reentry, one of the things I heard on the news was speculating how could this be terrorism? I mean the space shuttle was like 40 miles up and people thought it was terrorism. Every time there is a major incident, everyone speculate could it be terrorism. Now we get some ominous official statement how this event was not terrorism, but the US will remain vigilant about terrorism.

Now every time someone barfs people ask if it is Ebola?

Pentagon Parking Lot Case Isn’t Ebola, Officials Say

There is no ebola! They just want you to be afraid! This country runs on fear! They control with fear! They keep you docile and consuming with fear! Next month it will be something new to be afraid!

It is all made up! There are no terrorists! There are no pandemics! There is nothing to fear but them and their ####### taxes!

that's why he cancelled his fundraising . He's in quarantine

How so? You're more likely to catch the flu than Ebola. There's been what, 3 or 4 confirmed cases of Ebola in the US.
This logic is so flawed I dont know how you get through life.

For one, we don't quarantine people with the flu. If we did, a hell of a lot less people would get the flu. A lot less people would die from the flu also. However, we would be in constant quarantine and the county could not remotely function. Not to mention, the % of people who get the flu that die is very very small.

Ebola on the other hand has far fewer deaths because people with ebola are quarantined, becuase it kills basically everyone who gets it who doesnt get good hospital care, and also kills a good percentage of people who get treatment.

Ebola is 100000x times worse than the flu in every possible way, which is why it is treated as such.

So saying you are more likely to catch the flu than ebola is, as stated, about as irrelevant as it gets. Which one would you rather have??

Any pics of that??? Cause there is no way they would allow him to do that.

If he did he is a dolt and so is his secreet service.

Ebola......Obama....sound simiiar, right? Coincidence?
Eboma

Ok, one thing driving me crazy..............have heard a few times now people in connection with so and so...and so and so.....have come down with "EBOLA-LIKE-SYMPTOMS".................yet do not have ebola.

Maybe, just maybe, say FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS and get it right. There is a difference. None of these people have ebola like symptoms, cause if they did, then so would 100 million other americans with the sniffles according to these people.

THOSE are the fearmongers doing dumb #### like that.

Duncan family quarantine is up in a couple of days. That's good news although I can't understand how the nurses got it and they didn't.

Maybe it's easier to catch it after the patient shows phase 2 symptoms.
or maybe it's just not that easy to catch, period.
We should settle this once and for all. Would you like to participate in a little experiment?
thx but no. And in any case it's already been settled . Given how long the disease has been around in West Africa, and that there are only 9,000 reported cases worldwide, that should tell you all you need to know. It's not easy to catch.

I think one challenge for Ron Klain is to deal with the social media, where everyone will immediately poopoo any spin he will try to put on the situation.

So far, we have people who have been in West Africa and 2 health workers. Let's start a count down for someone outside these two categories.

Out of how many people who have been to West Africa? And out of how many health workers? I'm betting the numbers are extremely miniscule.

That's why all this talk about travel bans is so unreasonable and over the top.
