I dont know much about LB Ed Hartwell other than he played for the falcons and has been in the league for a while. My question is how good is he and how well does he fit our defense? Also, what is the Odell Thurman situation looking like.

His agent says he's healthy. The healthy 2002-2004 version of Ed Hartwell was quick and physical and able to make plays from sideline-to-sideline. Since then, he's blown out an Achilles and had multiple procedures on both knees. Local observers are speculating that he'll be used on the weak side to protect him from blockers and allow him to avoid most of the in-the-box trash. There's been nothing confirmed by the coaching staff yet. If the Bengal DTs and Ahmad Brooks does his, Hartwell can be a solid OLB on rush downs. With his recent injury history, I can't imagine he's going to be a force in pursuit or coverage. If he's not fully healthy, I'm not convinced he'll be better than Landon Johnson, who is a heckuva linebacker despite his size.No one knows anything about Thurman. He's eligible to apply for re-instatement in mid-July. The most common rumor is that he's been in alcohol rehab most of the off-season. There's been no indication of whether he's been working out or in any kind of shape to play. He's been persona non grata in the locker room since his year suspension was handed down. Marvin has publicly bashed him like he has no other player. No matter what the situation is, he's got a long way to go before he can contribute on the field.
